Abstract

Moringa leaves are a very promising local food ingredient to be processed into dishes for postpartum mothers. This is because moringa contains phytosterol compounds which are known to increase and facilitate breast milk production. A scoping review was conducted with the primary aim of investigating the extent to which moringa leaves influence the increase in breast milk production in mothers after childbirth. This study only included articles that presented quantitative evidence regarding the effect of moringa leaves on increasing breast milk. In its execution, this review utilized the scoping review method, a technique that functions to map all relevant literature in a research field. The results of the review revealed that regular consumption of moringa leaves, in any form, has significant potential to increase breast milk production in nursing mothers, thus ensuring an adequate breast milk supply. Keywords: Moringa Oleifera, Breast Milk production

Abstract

Anxiety is one of the psychological disorders that can occur among third-trimester pregnant. Progressive muscle relaxation therapy represents a potential intervention for alleviating anxiety. This research aimed to determine the impact of this therapy on anxiety levels in expectant mothersin the third trimester. This study is a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre and post- test design. Thesample used was 28 pregnant women in the third trimester chosen through a purposive sampling technique. The variables studied were anxiety level in facing childbirth and progressive muscle relaxation. The measuring instruments used were the SOP progressive muscle relaxation and the PerinatalAnxiety Screening Scale (PASS) questionnaire. The hypothesis test used was Wilcoxon in IBMSPSS Statistic 26.Prior to the intervention, the majority of respondents (71.4%, n=20) reported experiencing moderate anxiety. Following the intervention, a substantial shift was observed, with nearly all respondents (89.3%, n=25) exhibiting mild anxiety. There was a decrease in anxiety scores from 24.61 to 15.5. Based on the Wilcoxon analysis, therewas an effect of progressive muscle relaxation on anxiety in facing childbirth with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (<0.05).The efficacy of progressive muscle relaxation in alleviating childbirth-related anxiety among pregnant women has been conclusively demonstrated. Each progressive muscle relaxation movement provides a relaxing effect onevery muscle in the body. Pregnant women can apply this therapy independently to reduce anxiety.

Abstract

AbstractBreast milk is the primary source of nutrition for newborns and plays a crucial role in infants' growth and immune system. However, smooth breast milk production is often a challenge for some breastfeeding mothers. One non-pharmacological effort that can support smooth breast milk production is consuming Papaya. Papaya contains lactogagum, which can secrete oxytocin and prolactin, hormones that stimulate breast milk production. This study aimed to determine the effect of papaya consumption on smooth breast milk flow in breastfeeding mothers in the Songgon Community Health Center working area in 2025. This study implemented a quasi-experimental design through a pre-test and post-test approach. 30 respondents were obtained through accidental sampling, which was divided into 2 groups, 15 intervention group respondents and 15 control group respondents, thus meeting the minimum number of samples suitable for the study. The intervention group was given papaya fruit 3 times a day for 7 days with a dose of 250 grams at each meal. The control group was not given any treatment. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The instruments used were a questionnaire indicator of smooth breast milk flow and an observation sheet. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests using SPSS 25 for Windows. The study was conducted on January 31–February 25, 2025, with KEPK No. 071/01/KEPK-STIKESBWI/I/2024-2025. The results showed that the average smoothness of breast milk in the intervention group increased from 1.87 to 7.40, while the control group increased from 2.20 to 4.00. The average difference between the intervention group was 5.53, and the control group was 1.8. The p-value = 0.000 indicates an effect. Papaya can be recommended as a natural alternative to increase breast milk flow. Keywords: Breastfeeding Mothers, Breast Milk, Papaya, Smoothness of Breast Milk

Abstract

Low birth weight (LBW) infants are one of the main factors contributing to morbidity and mortality in the neonatal period. Gestational hypertension and hemoglobin levels during pregnancy are two maternal factors that can affect fetal growth and increase the risk of low birth weight babies. Analyzing the relationship between gestational hypertension and hemoglobin levels in pregnant women and its impact on the incidence of low birth weight babies at Blambangan Banyuwangi Regional General Hospital. This study implemented an observational analytical design using a cross-sectional approach. The study involved 41 mothers who had just given birth, selected using total sampling. The variables analyzed included gestational hypertension, hemoglobin levels, and the incidence of low birth weight. Data collection was conducted using observation sheets, and analysis was performed by applying the chi-square test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results of the study on gestational hypertension show that the majority, namely 27 individuals, or 65.9% of the total sample, experienced hypertension. Hemoglobin level analysis indicates that the majority, namely 23 individuals, were within the normal range, covering 56.1% of the entire sample. Analysis of LBW cases indicated that the majority of babies had normal weight, with a total of 32 babies identified, covering 78% of the entire sample. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between gestational hypertension and hemoglobin levels on LBW cases (p < 0.05). There exists a correlation between gestational hypertension and hemoglobin levels and the incidence of low birth weight infants. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and hemoglobin levels in pregnant women, as well as intensive education, are necessary to prevent the risk of low birth weight (LBW) babies.

Abstract

Menstruation is an important indicator of women’s reproductive health and is frequently disrupted during adolescence due to physiological adaptation and multiple external factors. This study aims to identify and synthesize the determinants influencing menstrual cycle regularity among adolescent girls based on recent research evidence. A Scoping Review was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, using articles published between 2021–2025 from PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, and Wiley databases. Eight eligible studies were analyzed narratively under three main categories: psychological, physiological, and lifestyle factors. Findings indicate that stress is the most dominant factor associated with menstrual cycle disturbances through hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian (HPO) axis dysfunction. Physiological factors such as high body mass index (BMI), obesity, and hormonal imbalance were significantly correlated with irregular cycles and increased risk of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, including sleep duration of <6 hours, high-fat intake, and excessive physical activity, further contributed to irregularities. Poor sleep quality and unbalanced diet disrupted the circadian rhythm and hormonal regulation of the reproductive system. Overall, menstrual irregularities result from an interaction of biological, psychological, and behavioral factors, most of which are modifiable. Comprehensive reproductive health education and healthy lifestyle interventions are crucial to prevent and manage menstrual disorders. Further longitudinal studies are recommended to strengthen causal evidence among variables

Abstract

Almost the entire world has serious problems with chronic diseases, where in addition to physical illness, patients also experience anxiety, so it is necessary to provide appropriate nursing care. The purpose of this case study is to provide nursing care by applying thought-stopping therapy to reduce anxiety in patients with chronic diseases. The study used a descriptive approach with 8 respondents. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and measurement tools, which included signs and symptoms as well as anxiety levels. Thought-stopping therapy was conducted during the treatment process with 3 sessions and a schedule of 2 exercises per day in the morning and afternoon. The results showed a decrease in anxiety signs and symptoms with an average pre-treatment score of 50.38% and a post-treatment score of 4.92%, as well as an increase in patient ability from an average pre-treatment score of 12.12% to 46.97%. In conclusion, thought-stopping therapy can be used to reduce anxiety and improve the ability of patients with chronic diseases who experience anxiety. This therapy is recommended for use in nursing care for patients in hospitals. For other researchers, it is suggested to examine how long the effects of this therapy last and the need for trained caregivers to assist clients in performing this therapy at home.
