Abstract

Mobile learning (m-learning) offers new possibilities for enhancing motivation and well-being in social studies education. This literature review synthesizes current research on using mobile technologies in K-12 and higher education social studies contexts. Systematic searches yielded 37 empirical studies that were analyzed. Findings indicate emerging interest in m-learning for active learning opportunities leveraging mobile affordances. Student motivation may be increased through engagement, personalization, and bridging formal/informal learning. Well-being can potentially improve via reduced anxiety, social connections, and flow states. However, equitable access, teacher training, privacy, assessment, and curriculum integration require consideration. Gradual implementation, aligning activities to objectives, and promoting digital citizenship are advised. More rigorous research is needed to establish impacts on higher-order thinking and competencies. Harnessed effectively, mobile devices may reinvigorate social studies by connecting school to students’ lives.

Abstract

The circular economy emerged as a response to the aspiration to realize sustainable development in anticipation of production and consumption pressures on natural resources and the environment. In this economic system concept, waste management is carried out optimally, where the result of recycling waste will be a value-added product while reducing waste residue. The objectives of the community service program are to provide solutions to waste management problems in Lebak Regency, provide alternative business development using appropriate technology so that there is an increase in the economy of the community in Lebak Regency, and at the same time, build disciplined behavior in maintaining the environment. This service method uses Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involves community members as co-researchers in identifying educational needs, developing strategies, and implementing solutions. Furthermore, the method used was through the delivery of socialization to participants in a hybrid manner. The socialization material includes (i) the importance of waste processing, (ii) how to sort waste, and (iii) economic added value from waste processing. The results of community service are in the form of solving problems the community faces by utilizing the expertise of relevant academicians related to waste management in Lebak Regency, West Java. Furthermore, the implication of this community service is to increase literacy and awareness among government officials about adequate waste management so that they can manage waste in their areas to reduce the negative impact of landfills.

Abstract

The remains of NTT woven fabrics are generally thrown away and not utilized by the community in Kupang Regency. Reusing these remains into various accessories has many uses, which shows that the remains can play a good role if managed in products with a selling value. The purpose of this community service is to improve the skills of pastors in utilizing waste cloth into accessories that have high selling value so that they can pass on this knowledge to the congregation, hoping to improve the economy of the community in Kupang Regency. This service method uses community-based research (CBR) by the service team and partners. The team carried out PKM activities according to the predetermined schedule: August 31 - September 1, 2023. The results of community service activities obtained through activity utilization sheets by distributing questionnaires containing 14 statements to 15 participants showed that 13 participants stated that they were very satisfied with this activity, 86.7%, and two other participants chose the satisfied category with a percentage of 13.3%. This activity is considered very beneficial for pastors in the East Kupang Classis. It is hoped that there will be more in-depth training related to making earrings with the latest models and characteristics so that they can be registered with HKI and need to be continued with business management training.

Abstract

The Indonesian capital market has experienced significant growth supported by advances in information technology, particularly the implementation of Management Information Systems (MIS) in investment decision-making. This study aims to analyze the role of MIS in enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of stock investment decisions in the Indonesian capital market. A qualitative research method using in-depth interviews with individual investors was employed to explore their experiences and perceptions in using MIS. The results indicate that MIS facilitates real-time data access, improves the quality of fundamental and technical analysis, and assists in investment risk management. However, challenges such as data quality, interface complexity, and low financial literacy hinder the optimal use of MIS. This study recommends improving data quality, developing more user-friendly features, and providing continuous financial literacy education programs to maximize MIS utilization. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for MIS developers and capital market regulators in strengthening an inclusive and sustainable investment ecosystem.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are required to be agents of development, playing an active role in contributing to and transforming the field of economic empowerment and the quality of their resources. Many Islamic boarding schools have adapted and transformed into institutions that participate in economic empowerment efforts, but the programme only involves motivators and target groups without the involvement of the students, both cognitively and in terms of action. Thus, students must be empowered. Among the skills that students should be prepared with are those that will enable them to support the pesantren's economy and also add value for them when they return to society. The objective of this assistance is to enhance the understanding and awareness of students and pesantren on the significance of the creative industry for the advancement of pesantren and as a precursor for students after graduating from these educational institutions. Therefore, the research team/servant and the pesantren together explore the potential or assets that they have, develop appropriate programmes, and also evaluate the implemented programmes. The ABCD approach is a service methodology employed in this mentoring programme. This service technique is broadly divided into five stages: (1) Identification of community strengths; (2) Asset mapping of the community, (3) Planning the form of the mentoring programme; (4) programme implementation; (5) monitoring and evaluation (M&E) is conducted using the Most Significant Change (MSC) technique.

Abstract

This community service programme was conducted in Kedungsugo Village, Prambon District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. The programme identified several crucial problems: 1) Low parental awareness of children's growth and potential; 2) About 47% of the community is on the poverty line; 3) High school dropout rate at productive age; 4) Children working not in accordance with their expertise; 5) High divorce rate due to early marriage; 6) High risk of juvenile delinquency such as crime, alcohol, and drugs. The Doktor Mengabdi (KDM) group of Unisma Malang implemented this workshop programme using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, supported by data from the social services and village government. The aim is to overcome these crucial problems through increasing parents' awareness as the main driver of mindset change, optimising the role of parents, and increasing awareness of the importance of education for children and families. This effort aims to gradually reduce and eliminate problems such as school dropouts, early marriage, and juvenile delinquency. The benefits of this community service are in accordance with the needs of Kedungsugo Village and Unisma's vision and mission for global economic peace and equality, as well as supporting the government's SDGs programme which focuses on quality and equitable education and socio-economic development. The success of this community service can be seen from the enthusiasm of the community in participating in the programme and the positive response during the discussion, which is an indication of improving the quality of human resources as the main capital for change in the village.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is driven by high revenues. The background of this study is based on the declining revenue among salted fish entrepreneurs due to fluctuations in raw material costs, unstable raw material availability, and intense competition in the local market. This study aims to analyze the effect of raw material costs, raw material inventory, and the level of competition on the income of salted fish entrepreneurs in Bagan Arya Village. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through interviews involving 30 salted fish entrepreneurs as a sample. Panel data is used because it is able to capture changes and relationships between variables more accurately over a five-year observation period. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the SmartPLS 4.0 application. The research findings revealed that raw material costs and raw material inventory have a positive and significant effect, while competition has a negative and significant effect on revenue. The R-squared value of 0.745 indicates that raw material costs, raw material inventory, and competition simultaneously explain 74.5% of revenue. These results highlight the importance of cost and inventory management strategies, as well as innovation in the face of competition, to increase the income of local entrepreneurs in the salted fish processing sector.
