Abstract

This article is motivated by the phenomenon of inequality in the role of women in the public aspect. Seeing da'wah as an essential aspect in influencing the community, the researchers were inspired to understand more deeply the representation of the content of the sermon on the role of women. For academic reasons, the researcher chooses videos from a national women preacher, Oki Setiyana Dewi (OSD), on YouTube. This article uses a qualitative Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) from Norman Fairclough and social-conflict theory. The results of this research indicate that women in her content sermon consider that women have a significant role in the domestic aspect, including taking care of children and serving their husbands. This is considered a provision from God. Meanwhile, women are allowed to work or play a role in the public sphere but should comply with some provisions. Judging from the theory used, the text of this sermon contains a conflict which is an inequality that limits the role of women. OSD produced the text of this sermon because she understands that women are “aurat” which, if seen by others, will harm them. Besides that, the condition of a patriarchal society also encourages this opinion.

Abstract

This research aims to show Islamic views through the Qur'an and Hadith regarding inter-religious harmony and then create a framework for the formation of communication ethics which can possibly be formed through reformulation of contextual interpretive meaning through Islamic views, historical descriptions and assessments regarding the ethics of inter-religious communication according to the textual Islamic view as a formula framework for an ethical approach to inter-religious communication, which not only can be seen for its validity philosophically, logically, and can be tested analytically, but can also be used as a practical reference in universal inter-religious communication practices considering the current conditions of inter-religious harmony. Paul Receur's Hermeneutic Phenomenology Approach is a form of approach that will be used to examine several frameworks of Al-Qur'an and Hadith texts relating to inter-religious harmony in this research. Research results show that the ethical approach in interreligious communication according to the textual Islamic perspective, is an approach or method by which people of different religions should communicate with each other in all matters, anywhere and in any relationship, optimally making ethicality a perspective and basis for consideration. Islam textually considers it important and has regulated broadly and in detail the approach by which people of different religions should communicate with each other in all matters, wherever and in any relationship, optimally making ethicality a point of view and basic considerations.

Abstract

The mass media has specific objectives in every statement, namely to convince readers to be interested and engage in the discourse provided. The purpose of this research is to describe Robert Entman's framing scheme in the online media Detik.com and Kompas.com in reporting on the investigation process to the announcement of the final results of the case of the family's death in Kalideres. This study focuses on two Detik.com news articles titled "Police Find Clues Regarding the Deaths of a Family in Kalideres" and "Next Week, Police Will Conclude the Mystery of the Deaths of a Family in Kalideres," published on November 15, 2022, and December 4, 2022, as well as two Kompas.com news articles titled "When Police Struggle to Unravel the Mystery of the Deaths of a Family in Kalideres" and "Experts Urge the Police to Immediately Disclose the Deaths of a Family in Kalideres, Even Though Unsolved," published on November 17, 2022, and December 1, 2022. The research method used to analyze the news text is descriptive through Robert Entman's framing analysis. The results of the analysis based on Robert Entman's framing indicate that the online media Detik.com informs that the police can easily find the cause of the family's death in Kalideres. Meanwhile, Kompas.com suggests that the police are having difficulty in solving the case of the family's death in Kalideres. Furthermore, Detik.com also portrays the police as optimistic, responsive, and prompt because they firmly commit to announcing the case of the family's death in Kalideres promptly. In contrast, Kompas.com implicitly states that the police are not acting swiftly in handling the case of the family's death in Kalideres and therefore need to be pressured by psychologists to promptly disclose the investigation results of the case.
