The phenomenon of the rise of far-right populism and the strengthening of identity politics in some Europe countries has received considerable academic and practical attention in the last decade. The rise of far-right populists in the electoral political process and the increasing public support in Hungary and Poland marked a new chapter of political contestation in the region. This article aims to examine how economic and cultural factors influence the rise of far-right populism in those countries. This study employs a qualitative approach with literary analysis and web-based research to obtain complex interplay between political-economy, cultural, and populist-far-right identity politics. This paper argues that the complex interplay between economic inequality and the superiority of traditional culture of “the self” are the triggers for the rise of far-right populist identity politics in Hungary and Poland.

In 2016, kidnappings at sea globally experienced an increase in cases compared to the previous 10 years. One of them occurred in the Sulu Sea which is between eastern Malaysia and the Philippines. A series of kidnappings for ransom have been reported since March 2016. As of 2016, there have been 17 kidnapping cases at sea and 6 failed abduction attempts at sea, of which some of the victims came from Indonesia. The kidnappings are related to attacks carried out by a terrorist group operating in the Southern Philippines, namely the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group. This study aims to analyze the role of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) as a non-state actor in negotiating with the Abu Sayyaf group to free 10 Indonesian citizens (WNI) who were taken as hostages on March 26 2016. The author uses a sociological liberalism theory approach, the concept of track two diplomacy and negotiation according to Guy Olivier Faure which consists of three stages of negotiation, namely (1) the pre-negotiation stage, (2) the formula formation stage, and (3) the adjustment stage to analyze PMI's role. The results of this study indicate that PMI's role in the effort to free the 10 Indonesian citizens highlighted its role as a non-state actor who prioritized humanitarian assistance through the negotiation process so as to facilitate the release of the hostages which in the end the 10 Indonesian citizens were released on May 1, 2016.

The United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS Agenda) adopted in 2000 is a global milestone that centers women's issues in peace and security efforts. It recognizes the terrible impacts of conflict on women. The WPS Agenda has prompted a call for all UN member states to enhance the participation of women in conflict prevention and resolution as an effort to realize sustainable peace, including by increasing the number of female peacekeepers in the UN Peacekeeping Operations (UN PKO). This research uses a qualitative method by employing a library research approach. It examines relevant foreign policy documents of both countries pertaining to the WPS Agenda and engaging with existing scholarships on the WPS Agenda. Informed by constructivist international relations theory focusing on state norms and identities, this research argues that the Pakistani government's commitment to incorporate a gender perspective in UN peace and security efforts is shaped by the political will of the military government. It has resulted in the recognition of Pakistan in international forums. The increased female peacekeepers in UN operations become an effective tool for peacekeeping diplomacy of both countries so that they could influence the UN global decision-making process.

Sanctions or restrictive measures have become a useful tool of the European Union's Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) in responding to Russia’s violation of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. While there are shortcomings in existing literature on how the EU as a supranational organization imposes sanctions, this article provides accounts of going beyond the rigid behavioral change approach. Drawing from the multi-purpose approach, highlighting three functions of sanctions, namely coercing, constraining, and signaling/stigmatizing, we argue that these three functions of sanctions can better explain the imposition and extension of EU sanctions on Russia during the period from 2014-2016. If coercive sanctions seem to be less likely to work in changing Russia’s behavior in a given context, constraining sanctions and signaling/stigmatizing sanctions can take a greater role in suppressing Russia both to a domestic audience and the international community, stigmatizing or isolating Russia for violating international norms and law.

The United States is a country that implements a free and most open immigration foreign policy in the world as evidenced by the acceptance of hundreds of thousands of regional and international immigrants each year. The government that is given the responsibility to lead the country will give priority to immigration issues to be formulated in foreign policy. In the era of President Donald Trump, the issue of immigrants was focused on solving the problem of illegal immigrants at the Southern border with an America First approach and securitization measures. This research will focus on the factors that became the basis for President Donald Trump's consideration of securitization in order to change United States immigration policies, using the framework of The Politics of Foreign Policy Change, namely the identification of global and domestic conditions with political and economic elements as factors that underlying changes in a country's foreign policy. This study argues that President Trump's securitization actions in the context of changing US immigration policy are based on global political conditions, namely the presence of transnational crimes such as identity fraud, drug smuggling, and criminal acts. Global economic conditions, related to immigrants with low wages undermine the standard minimum wage for American workers. Political domestic factors are related to the fulfillment of President Trump's campaign promise to protect the homeland and people of the United States from the threat of illegal immigrants on the southern border. Domestic economic factors are related to American jobs which are occupied by illegal immigrants by falsifying their identities at companies and impacting the loss of the right to social security for United States citizens. Keywords: Foreign Policy Changes, Immigration Policy, Securitization.

The COVID-19 pandemic has left so much impact all over the world. The social impact caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus is also very significant in Asia. It is women who are disproportionately affected. For example, in several countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, girls are less fortunate because they are seen as an economic burden. Likewise in Indonesia as one of the countries in Southeast Asia, where many cases of gender inequality occur. The method used in writing this research is descriptive qualitative analysis with data collection through documentation, observation and interviews. This research will focus on the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on the fulfillment of women's human rights in Indonesia during 2020-2021 as a case study of the phenomenon and spread of the COVID 19 pandemic and the gender gap in SoSutheast Asia. The research will produce data on gender relations in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in Southeast Asia and Indonesia as one of the countries with the highest population and influence in Southeast Asia.

This research was conducted to explain how the cooperation between South Sulawesi Province and Japan's Ehime Prefecture is a form of sister province cooperation where this inter-regional cooperation aims to provide options for regional development. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach that is built on the theory of Paradiplomacy and the concept of Sister Province based on the analyst's explanation given by Takdir Ali Mukti who assumes that Paradiplomacy refers to the behavior and capacity of conducting foreign relations with foreign parties carried out by sub-state entities, in the context of their specific interests. The concept of sister province cooperation is the solution taken by the South Sulawesi Provincial Government in cooperation with Japan's Ehime Prefecture. In this collaboration, the Provincial Government of South Sulawesi cooperates in the development of several fields where one of the most interested in Japan is cooperation in the field of marine product cultivation in which the type of commodity is tuna. The solution taken by the South Sulawesi government by using the sister province cooperation channel found variables that encourage South Sulawesi to find strategies used in developing tuna fish production.

Waqf, as a form of sharia in Islam, teaches Muslims about the importance of sustainable economic development sources to ensure society's life and welfare. Until now, many Middle Eastern countries have implemented waqf as a form of economic improvement, one of which is Jordan. This research uses a systematic descriptive model with qualitative methods through data collection techniques from journals, books, and online websites that can strengthen the researchers' arguments. Jordan, as one of the countries that adhere to the waqf system, began implementing this system in 1947 and is listed in the laws governing waqf under the auspices of the Ministry of Waqf. Implementing the waqf system has had a very significant impact on the development of public facility development and economic growth in Jordan. Waqf is a form of investment capital that can be invested, the results of which can be enjoyed by many people, so that it becomes an inclusive and sustainable development solution.
