Abstract

The graph used in this paper is a simple and connected graph consisting of a set of vertices  and a set of edge . A function  is called vertex irregulaarity labelling and . If for every ,  where  and  then, f is called local irregularity vertex coloring. The chromatic number of the local irregular vertex coloring of graph  is denoted by , which is the minimum cardinality of the largest label of all local irregular vertex coloring. In this article we will learn about coloring points of local irregularities in pencil graphs and finding the exact value of the chromatic number. Keywords: local irregularity; vertex coloring; pencil graphs

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze students' errors in solving junior high school algebra problems and the causes of these errors using Newman's theory. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The research subjects were 31 class VII students. The instrument of this research is written formative test questions on algebra topics which are analyzed using Newman error analysis. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that students made (1) mistakes in reading the questions; (2) mistakes in understanding the questions; (3) process skills errors, and (4) errors in writing final answers. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that based on Newman's theory, there are four mistakes made by junior high school students in solving algebra problems Keywords: student errors, Newman Theory, algebra

Abstract

This research aims to describe the collaborative skills of prospective elementary school teachers in developing mathematical literacy questions through lesson study activities. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research, namely describing collaboration skills based on data obtained through the stages of lesson study (plan, do, see). The research instrument used to answer the research objectives was a collaboration skills observation sheet. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that students' overall collaboration skills have improved and are in the excellent category. A significant increase occurred in time management indicators due to students being able to complete assignments at the end of the final cycle. Keywords: collaboration skills, lesson study, mathematical literacy

Abstract

This research aimed to describe students' critical thinking processes based on gender in solving group problems. The subjects were a boy and a girl with equal abilities. The instrument was a critical thinking test. Data were analyzed based on FRISCO indicators. The results are on the indicator of: (1) focus, the boy has difficulty in solving problems of power set context while the girl succeeds in any context; (2) reason, both subjects provide relevant reasons; (3) inference, the boy has difficulty in forming conclusions of power set context while the girl succeeds in all conclusions; (4) situation, the boy does not use mathematical concepts that are relevant to the problem of power set context while the girl does of any contexts; (5) clarity, the boy explains the conclusion of integers set context while the girl does in all contexts; (6) overview, the two subjects do not recheck. Abstract

This research aims to describe the undergraduate students’ ability to construct mathematical proofs with high, medium, and low mathematical abilities in solving Transformation Geometry proof problems. This research is descriptive qualitative research with three undergraduate students of the Mathematics Education department as research subjects: one high-ability undergraduate student, one medium-ability undergraduate student, and one low-ability undergraduate student. The research results show that high-ability undergraduate students can fulfill all the indicators of construct mathematical proofs ability, medium-ability undergraduate students are unable to show warrant as a link to the premises and conclusions of statements so they cannot continue the proof correctly and fulfill the indicators of construct mathematical proofs ability, while low-ability undergraduate students are unable to state the relation between premises and the relation between premises and conclusions of statements so they cannot continue the proof correctly and fulfill the indicators of construct mathematical proofs ability Keywords: construct mathematical proofs, transformation geometry

Abstract

This research aims to implement a context-based problem-solving learning model with Islamic context assisted by GeoGebra to enhance the numeracy literacy skills of students in the topic of matrix in Grade XI MIPA at MAN Barito Timur. The study employs a classroom action research approach with two cycles. Data is collected through pretests, post-tests, observations of learning implementation, and student worksheets. The results indicate that applying the learning model successfully improves students' numeracy literacy skills. In cycle 1, there was an increase from 5 students reaching the minimum passing grade (KKM) in the pretest to 9 students or 56% in the post-test. In cycle 2, 7 students achieved KKM in the pretest, which increased to 12 students in the post-test, reaching 75%. Student engagement also improved positively, reflecting the effectiveness of the learning model. The use of GeoGebra as a tool for visualization and exploration had a positive impact on deeper understanding. In conclusion, the Islamic context-based problem-solving learning model assisted by GeoGebra effectively enhances students' numeracy literacy. Abstract

Ethnomathematics is a study that links culture with mathematics. Ethnomathematics can bridge students' learning difficulties in understanding mathematics. Ethnomathematics objects can be found around the environment, for example, pottery. This research aims to find mathematical elements in the typical Kulon Progo pottery culture so that it can be used to facilitate understanding of the concept of integral calculus, precisely the volume of a solid of revolution. This research is qualitative descriptive research with an ethnographic approach. The subjects of this research are pottery craftsmen in Bumirejo village, Lendah, Kulon Progo. Data collection was carried out by observation and interviews. Next, literature studies and data analysis were carried out to conclude. The research results found that pottery crafts in the form of mortars, jars, cauldrons, and flowerpots can be linked to learning the volume of rotating objects through rotating curves that resemble the shape of the pottery crafts. Hopefully, this research can help educators find fun learning alternatives and increase students' understanding of integral material. Keywords: ethnomathematics, pottery crafts, integral

Abstract

One of the essences developed in independent learning is differentiated learning. Through differentiated learning, the various needs of students can be facilitated so that results can be achieved according to needs at the end of the learning process. This research aims to explore and describe differentiated learning. This research is a type of descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects are articles selected using purposive techniques. The data collection method used is documentation with instruments in the form of articles from scientific journals. The data analysis method consists of three stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this research are that differentiated learning is learning that facilitates freedom which facilitates different needs with different processes and also for different achievements. With the suggestions that can be conveyed, it is hoped that teachers can fully and comprehensively understand the essence of differentiated learning so that they can apply it optimally in the learning process when teachers teach in the class. Abstract

This study employs a qualitative approach to describe junior high school students' interpretative abilities in solving mathematical literacy problems. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling. Credibility testing is conducted through source triangulation, which is used to test the credibility of data by cross-checking data obtained from several sources. The results of this study indicate that both subjects, S1 and S2, utilize real-world contexts to check the reasonableness of their answers, provide arguments, and set solution boundaries. However, the use of real-world contexts in interpreting mathematical literacy problems is insufficient to produce correct answers. Misinterpretation of the real-world context by both subjects leads to an inability to appropriately link mathematical concepts with their real-world applications. This study highlights that, in addition to using real-world contexts, a good understanding of mathematical concepts is essential for correctly solving mathematical literacy problems. Keywords: misinterpretation, real-world context, mathematical literacy problems
