Abstract

As time goes by, many innovative approaches, strategies, methods, and learning techniques have been created to make students more interested in learning mathematics. However, in reality, not all teachers can apply various innovative student-centered learning approaches in mathematics learning. This research took place at a high school in the city of Bandung to describe how mathematics learning using the expository method is implemented in that school. This research is case study research, with data collected using observation and interview techniques with both teachers and students. Based on the results of observations, it is known that learning is carried out in three stages, namely preliminary, core, and closing activities. In the core learning activities, the teacher chooses to use the expository method which collaborates with cooperative learning and constructivist learning, although in this case, expository learning is more dominant. Learning mathematics using the expository method is seen as more effective for use in learning because it suits the character of the students and the material being taught. Abstract

Problem-solving skills are related to other abilities, such as conceptual understanding, application of concepts, representation, and communication of ideas. When solving problems, we must understand the problem and can do this by providing an appropriate representation of the problem. Accurate representation offers a greater opportunity to achieve the desired solution. Therefore, research on students' representations in problem-solving is essential to provide an overview of how students form representations when solving geometric problems. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects are three students from the mathematics education program at Unipdu with high, medium, and low abilities. The results show that the low-ability subject uses pictorial representation and cannot solve the problem. The medium-ability subject uses schematic and symbolic representations but with less perfection in usage, so even though the solution found is correct, it is presented in a less structured manner. Meanwhile, the high-ability subject uses schematic and symbolic representations and finds solutions in a more structured way. Keywords: Representation, Problem-Solving, Geometry

Abstract

Interest is a feeling of liking something without intervention, while motivation is the drive to achieve success in something you like. In learning, to motivate students to achieve success, their interests need to be directed first. Where success in learning is measured based on the acquisition of learning outcomes. The strengths and weaknesses of student interest and motivation will influence learning outcomes. Based on this statement, it appears that there is a relationship between interest, motivation, and learning outcomes in teaching and learning activities. In this way, it was inspired to carry out research that aims to find out the correlation between interest, motivation, and learning outcomes which are seen based on differentiated learning with the research subject is students of X class in SMA Darussalam Blokagung Karangdoro Tegalsari Banyuwangi who were randomly selected. The kind of research correlation with the data collection method used was questionnaires and documentation and the data analysis method, namely SEM PLS. Based on the research results, it appears that there is a correlation between interest, motivation, and learning outcomes through differentiated learning. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a Students' Working Sheet (LKPD) based on mathematical reasoning for 7th-grade students of UPTD SPF Junior High School 3 Bondowoso. In this study, Thiagarajan's development model (1974) is used, which consists of four stages: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. However, the development of mind mapping-based LKPD is only limited to 3D. The initial observation shows that students have different levels of mathematical reasoning ability. The result of the study includes the validity, practicality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the LKPD. After being validated by two validators, the validity of LKPD is assessed, with 3,25 as the average score which indicates a good level of validity. The practicality of the LKPD was assessed by the teacher's questionnaire, which received 81,25% as the average score, which shows that the LKPD can be considered practical. The efficiency of the LKPD was assessed by the student’s questionnaire, which received 86,27%, which shows that the LKPD can be considered as efficient. Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of ethnomathematics-based learning on the game Gobak Sodor to improve students' mathematical understanding. Gobak Sodor is a traditional game that is a cultural heritage from our ancestors and needs to be preserved. Gobak Sodor is a very popular traditional Indonesian game that requires good strategy, dexterity, and cooperation in a rectangular arena lined with chalk lines. This game combines elements of dexterity, strategy, and teamwork. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a quantitative approach. Class VII-A is an experimental class that uses an ethnomathematics-based learning model with the gobak sodor game, and class VII-B is a control class that uses a direct learning model. Research data was obtained through a test in the form of five questions describing mathematical understanding. Based on the results of research using an independent sample test, a significance value of 0.001 was obtained, which is smaller than 0.05. Based on this decision, H0 was rejected, which shows that there is a difference in students' mathematical understanding between the experimental class, which applies ethnomathematics-based learning with the gobak sodor game, and the control class, which uses conventional learning. These results indicate that there is a positive influence of ethnomathematics-based learning with the gobak sodor game on improving students' mathematical understanding. Abstract

This research aims to describe students' conceptual understanding when they solve problems using the Lingpusta board teaching aid. Understanding mathematical concepts is the main key in mastering mathematics. Understanding concepts is very important for students after going through the learning process. The ability to understand concepts also requires students to recall concepts that have been studied previously. Understanding concepts means students are able to explain the relationships between concepts and apply concepts flexibly, accurately, efficiently, and precisely to a problem. The Lingpusta board is used to illustrate the concept of sets and their relationships with elements in the universe or universal sets. This research used a qualitative approach with subjects consisting of 2 low-ability students and 2 high-ability students in class VII at Darur-Rahmah Middle School. The research instruments consist of problem-solving questions, students' conceptual understanding tests, and interview guidelines. The results of this research show that students who have high ability to understand the concept can solve the questions well and fulfill the six indicators that have been determined, while students who have low understanding have difficulty in solving the questions given and fulfill the five indicators that have been determined.
