Abstract

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) variety Yuvita is one of the eggplant cultivars grown in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The cultivation of eggplant in peatland areas of West Kalimantan faces several constraints, particularly the low availability of macro and micronutrients in the soil. Improvement of eggplant production can be achieved through the application of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of liquid organic fertilizer derived from sugarcane bagasse decomposed using Trichoderma harzianum (R3) on the growth of eggplant. The experiment was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments, namely control (P0), 25 mL/L (P1), 50 mL/L (P2), and 75 mL/L (P3). The results showed that the application of sugarcane bagasse-based LOF significantly affected fresh weight, dry weight, and total chlorophyll content of eggplant plants. However, it did not significantly influence plant height and number of leaves. The best concentration was 50 mL/L, which produced a fresh weight of 8.80 g, a dry weight of 0.594 g, and a total chlorophyll content of 131.38 mg/L.

Abstract

This study examines production and price risks in seaweed farming in Polewali District, Polewali Mandar Regency, which influence farmers' income uncertainty. The study aimed to identify and quantify the level of production and price risks. The method used was a quantitative approach with primary and secondary data, as well as descriptive statistical analysis through the mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation (CV). The sample was determined by simple random sampling of 32 farmers. The results showed that production risk was high (CV = 0.80) due to environmental factors and disease attacks, while price risk was low (CV = 0.09) due to relatively stable prices. These findings contribute to the development of basic education, particularly in contextual learning based on real-world problems in the agribusiness sector.

Abstract

This study sought to assess the impact of different hydroponic nutrient concentrations on the development and production of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.) farmed via the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) system, and to identify the best concentration level. The experiment was executed in a greenhouse situated in Seniung Jaya Village, Pasir Belengkong District, Paser Regency, throughout November to December 2025. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor was utilized, including four nutrient concentration treatments, each duplicated three times. The measured characteristics were plant height, leaf count, and fresh weight. Data were evaluated utilizing analysis of variance (ANOVA), succeeded by a Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at the 5% significance level upon detection of significant differences. The findings demonstrated that nutrition content significantly influenced all measured parameters. Six weeks post-transplantation, the treatment with the lowest concentration yielded the greatest measurements for plant height, leaf count, and fresh weight. Conversely, elevated nutrient concentrations often decreased plant growth and production. The data indicate that an ideal nutrient level exists for enhancing plant performance, whereas high nutrient concentrations may adversely impact growth. Nutrient balance is more crucial than excessive nutrient input in hydroponic growth systems.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine and evaluate the reproductive performance of Madura cattle reared at the Superior Livestock Breeding Center – Forage Feed Center (BPTU-HPT) Pelaihari, South Kalimantan. The research employed a survey method using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, including mean values and standard deviations. The observed parameters comprised Service per Conception (S/C), Conception Rate (CR), Calving Interval (CI), and Days Open (DO). The results indicated that the reproductive performance of Madura cattle at BPTU-HPT Pelaihari was categorized as good to moderately efficient. This suggests that the implementation of a standardized management system can enhance reproductive performance more effectively compared to conventional smallholder farming systems.

Abstract

Chili is a commodity or horticultural crop with significant economic value in Indonesia. Price issues for chili commodities continue to occur. There are indications that chili prices fluctuate in Indonesia over a certain period. This study aims to determine chili price fluctuations and trends, chili price risks, and compare the level of chili price risk in traditional and modern markets in South Sulawesi Province. This type of research is quantitative. The type of data in this study is secondary data (time series). The data sources are the Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Makassar City, South Sulawesi. The data collected are chili commodity prices in modern and traditional markets from January to December 2024. Data analysis techniques include multiple linear regression analysis (trend analysis) to determine chili price trends, calculation of the coefficient of variation to analyze price risk, and partial testing using the t-test to compare price risk levels. The results show that the price trend of large red chilies, curly red chilies, and red cayenne peppers in traditional and modern markets has experienced a downward trend with a relatively low level of price fluctuation. The price risk of large red chilies, curly red chilies, and red cayenne peppers, based on the coefficient of variation analysis, shows a coefficient of variation (CV) value > 0.5, indicating that these three chili commodities do not have a high price risk. A comparison of the price risk level of large red chilies in modern markets shows a calculated t value of -6.418 > t table 1.984, curly red chilies have a calculated t value of -9.008 > t table 1.984, and red cayenne peppers show a calculated t value of -6.249 > t table 1.984. This means that there is a significant difference in the price risk of red cayenne peppers between traditional and modern markets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the financial feasibility, sensitivity levels, and feasibility thresholds of the garlic powder (Allium sativum L.) business at PT Ginteanc Sari Roso in response to changes in production volume and sales volume. As this business is relatively new, the analysis was conducted using a five-year cash flow projection based on the assumption of gradual production growth of 25–30%. The methods used include financial feasibility analysis using the Net Present Value (NPV), Gross B/C, Net B/C, Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Profitability Index (PI) indicators, as well as sensitivity analysis and switching value analysis. The research results indicate that the business is financially viable with an NPV of Rp16,815,876.22; Gross B/C of 1.44; Net B/C of 6.27; IRR of 122.16%; and PI of 3.79. The sensitivity analysis results show that sales volume is more sensitive to the business’s financial viability than production volume. The switching value analysis indicates a tolerance limit for a decrease in production volume of 78.27%, while the tolerance limit for sales volume is 31.46%. These findings indicate that the financial feasibility of the business is more sensitive to changes in sales volume than to changes in production volume. The tolerance limit information obtained through the switching value analysis can be used as a basis for risk control and business decision-making.

Abstract

Oil palm plantations are the main source of income for farmers in Bengkulu Province, where women also play roles in decision-making and the implementation of plantation management decisions, although their roles are not yet fully recognized. This study aimed to analyze women’s roles in decision-making and decision execution in oil palm plantation management and to identify the factors influencing those roles. The research was conducted on 240 oil palm farming households in Mukomuko and Seluma Regencies using a survey method. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis to describe patterns of women’s roles, while multinomial logistic regression analysis was employed to identify the factors affecting women’s roles in decision-making and decision execution. The results showed that the dominant pattern of decision-making was joint husband–wife decision-making at 37.19%, indicating that women’s roles in decision-making were at a moderate level. Meanwhile, in decision execution, the dominant pattern was husband-dominant at 38.54%, indicating that women’s roles in implementing decisions were still relatively low. Simultaneously, age, education level, farming experience, husband’s support, and gender norms significantly influenced women’s roles in decision-making and decision execution in oil palm plantation management.
