Abstract

Merjosari Village in Malang, which used to be still an agricultural area, has gradually narrowed due to the large number of housing developments by developers. This has an impact on reduced agricultural output, especially chili and tomatoes. Farmers and laborers are unemployed because of the decreasing number of their agricultural lands. The program aims to provide training on the use of mushroom waste in the form of grajen into worm breeding media, program implementation methods by providing outreach programs, training, and providing worm culture facilities and infrastructure for farmers. The results of the program show that farmers and laborers in Merjosari Village can carry out their own cultivation of the lumbricus rubellus worm by utilizing mushroom baglog waste (grajen). The results of the worm cultivation can be sold in the form of worms that can be used as animal feed, birds / poultry, fish, shrimp and so on, the basic ingredients of cosmetics and medicines, and worm feces (vermicompost) used for high-quality organic fertilizers, especially for plants such as flowers and fruit. For farmers and other communities, this program can create self-employment opportunities (entrepreneurship), improve the economy and family welfare, participate in maintaining the balance of ecosystems and the environment.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v5i2.4407

Abstract

Batik is one of the original handicrafts of the Indonesian which is very well known for its beautiful motifs and is also full of various philosophical values. Efforts to preserve local culture, especially written batik, must be made in order to strengthen the Indonesian identity. One form of effort made is through education which aims to provide insight into the knowledge of batik. The participation of academics through their obligations to carry out community service becomes a bridge in these conservation. For this reason, the activities are carried out through an educational program on the introduction of batik, especially written batik typical of Malang to the empowerment of family welfare or PKK in Banjararum Village, Singosari, Malang Regency. The activity agreed upon between the service team and the PKK Banjararum was to provide insight into knowledge in the form of socialization to PKK about batik. The result of this activity is the increased awareness of the community about the importance of preserving the Indonesian nation's culture, especially batik which in turn creates awareness to use Indonesian original batik, creating ideas for a productive economic sector for the community by utilizing existing potential and human resources, and the sustainability of efforts to preserve the environment through culture.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v5i3.5037

Abstract

Tegalrandu Village is one of the tourism villages in Klakah sub-district, Lumajang Regency which is famous for its Ranu Klakah lake. The life of the residents of Tegalrandu village, Klakah sub-district, Lumajang district, is quite advanced where almost every villager can access the internet, but this is not in line with village government services that are still provided offline or manually. This is quite risky to do during the COVID-19 pandemic because it has the potential to cause gathering activities. To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, a new computerized system is needed so that it can be accessed online so as to speed up the administrative process and service of letter requests for villagers. This system is called SIPERDIT and is part of the OPENSID application with the addition of several new features. The program method in this activity consists of 2 stages, namely planning and implementing training. The results achieved were website-based applications and mobile Android which were easy to operate because of their user-friendly appearance. After this application was completed, the service team conducted training for users in Tegalrandu village to improve the services for community members.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v6i1.4801

Abstract

The workshop delivered to the anti-waste activists in Kelurahan Rampal Celaket, Kecamatan Klojen, Malang, is a community service program initiated by the Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering University of Merdeka Malang in collaboration with the Research and Community Service of IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. Plastic products caused environmental issues due to its slow decomposition rate by microorganisms, especially after being disregarded or buried in the ground. Even though the movement to reduce the use of plastic has been widely promoted, Indonesians in general do not have enough understanding of the environmental problems caused by plastic waste. In addition, the public also lacks the understanding of several other matters, including a) the properties of thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers, b) the alternative ways to reuse plastic waste as handicrafts or plastic pellets as secondary materials for plastic products. The results of preliminary observation indicated that the community need a workshop program on plastic waste management, types of recyclable plastic, and the impact of reusing plastic waste through lecture and discussion methods. This counseling reveals that a workshop program with lecture and discussion methods could increase public knowledge and awareness on plastic waste processing.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v6i2.5136

Abstract

Marketing of Micro, Medium and Small Enterprise (MSME) products through exhibitions is an effective means of selling MSME products. However, the COVID-19 outbreak that broke out in early 2020 has a significant impact on the lives of people around the world. Several online marketing alternatives can be done, including: e-Commerce, e-Marketplace, and Virtual Exhibition. Virtual exhibitions can be a solution amid the ban on crowding during large-scale social restrictions. Virtual exhibitions are events that can be watched on computers and cell phones using the internet directly (live streaming) or via Youtube channels from anywhere and anytime. The virtual exhibition and knitting craft workshop entitled "Virtual Expo and Workshop for MSME Malang City was successfully held at Merdeka University Malang on September 12, 2020. Virtual Expo involved 6 MSMEs communities in Malang Raya, each MSME community arranging products at booths along with booth keepers. The knitting workshop was attended by 12 participants on a portable stage. Taking pictures and videos of products and interviewing exhibitors and knitting workshops broadcast live (live streaming). The event applies the results of Higher Education Leading Research in the form of a portable stage and an inflatable stage roof with independent photovoltaic energy.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v5i3.4811

Abstract

This service activity is the application of an innovative submersible solar pump in a hydro-organic greenhouse environment in Grangsil Jambangan, Malang Regency. This is motivated by the need for water that can only be obtained through deep wells with submersible pumps in hydro-organic greenhouses that already use solar power plants but have insufficient power. The purpose of this service is to provide theoretical and practical understanding for Tour conscious group (POKDARWIS) Jambangan members as managers of the hydro-organic greenhouse. The methods used include focus group discussions (FGD) and joint practice in developing solar power plants for submersible pumps. After the implementation of this program, there was an increase in the capacity of the solar power plants, which has been able to turn on submersible pumps, hydroganic circulation pumps, and other needs. In one day, the submersible pump only needs to be turned on for 2 hours and produces 4,572 liters of water, sufficient for greenhouse hydroganic needs and other needs. Another positive impact is that POKDARWIS Jambangan members have been able to manage and maintain PLTS for a hydro-organic greenhouse. The submersible water pump prototype for hydroganic agriculture at the greenhouse using independent energy is very practical and efficient so it is expected to become a prototype for modern agricultural facilities in the context of a national-scale food security improvement program.

Abstract

Land use of Waluran Mandiri Village, which consists of agricultural land and rice fields, has the potential to increase the economy of the people in the area. However, this was not matched by the custom of local people who preferred to be gold miners, known as “Gurandil”. Some of the commodities that can be developed in this area are Hanjeli beans. The purpose of this activity is to involve the community in developing the potential of hanjeli beans which are packaged in the Hanjeli edutourism village. The stages carried out in this activity were the initial workshop, community counseling, the formation of a group discussion forum, the revitalization of agricultural land, the making of a blueprint for the eduwisata Hanjeli edutourism village, and the final workshop. The final result of this activity is a blueprint of Hanjeli edutourism village which consists of budget design, educational spots, educational layouts (layout and spatial layout), the various arts involved and consolidation of the residents' land used.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v5i3.4382Â
