Abstract

Health cadres play a vital role as community educators and frontline workers in the stunting handling program. Maternal knowledge regarding adequate nutrition for toddlers from pregnancy to birth is a crucial factor in preventing stunting, as it influences the mother's choices in terms of food ingredients and diversity. Pandeglang Regency is among the 100 priority cities/regencies in stunting reduction efforts. This activity aims to provide training to enhance the knowledge and capacity of Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) cadres in stunting, anthropometry, and nutrition. The trained cadres will be able to actively contribute to stunting prevention programs in the targeted stunting locus area of the Pandeglang Regency. The training methods include classroom training, Posyandu simulations, advocacy, and licensing. The exercise focuses on three stunting locus villages: Kedeumaneh, Kadeubelang, and Medong. Knowledge improvement was evaluated through pre-test and post-test assessments, followed by simulations conducted at each Posyandu location. The results indicated that 30 cadre respondents demonstrated increased knowledge after the training (p-value = 0.044). Furthermore, the simulation results revealed that the cadres were able to accurately perform anthropometric measurements.

Abstract

Massage therapy has been shown to be highly effective in preventing premature birth, encouraging infant growth, increasing attention, reducing depression and aggression, treating motor problems, and reducing discomfort. Daycare is a partner institution for parents in childcare that synergizes in observing the growth and development of children's mental health. This community service program aims to increase knowledge about children's mental health, and training and mentoring regarding relaxing massage for children. This service activity plan consists of the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The methods to be carried out vary from giving interactive materials, demonstrations, discussions, and practice. This activity was attended by 24 caregivers, 2 presenters, and 6 community service teams. This program was attended by caregivers aged between 22-50 years, with most of them being married, the highest education level being high school (75%), and the most work experience under 3 years (67%). Based on the results of the evaluation, all participants benefited from the knowledge training on child mental development and the application of baby massage in carrying out their daily duties as caregivers at daycare centers. Training childcare practitioners' metallization and helping them achieve attitude-based metallization is effective in helping them better understand child development.

Abstract

Preschool-age children show rapid development in various aspects of their development, including numeracy and language development. Various and appropriate stimulations are expected to optimize their development. Parents as the closest support system for preschool children have a very significant role, especially in helping children optimize their numeracy and language skills. Parents can play an optimal role if they understand children's numeracy and language development. In this community service program, parents are given training on "Optimizing the Learning Environment for Numeracy and Language in Preschool Children" which aims to increase parents' understanding of children's numeracy and language development and efforts to optimize it. The participants were 31 parents and Posyandu cadres in Jatimukti, Sumedang, West Java. Parents' understanding was measured through a pre-test questionnaire administered at the beginning of the training and a post-test questionnaire at the end of the training. The results showed a positive effect of the training on parents' understanding of children's numeracy and language development. Therefore, the results of this training recommend further trainings aimed at improving parents' understanding of language and numeracy development in preschool childrens.

Abstract

The implementation of community service activities exemplifies the essence of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This initiative is based at Wisata Bamboe Wanadesa on Jl. Giri Rejo KM 15, Karang Joang Village, North Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City, leveraging its bamboo forest resources for tourism. However, a deficiency in human resources is apparent in managing social media, graphic design, branding, and promotion for this attraction. The absence of knowledge among residents and tourists about the bamboo varieties also persists. To address these gaps, we conducted community service through diverse approaches. Workshops were conducted to train content creators using CapCut and Canva applications, enhancing social media visibility. Google Site was employed to bolster tourism branding, serving as an information hub. Furthermore, information boards strategically placed within Bamboe Wanadesa Tourism, interconnected with Google Site, were introduced. The outcomes encompass collaborative Instagram content, the Bamboe Wanadesa website, and informative plant labels, significantly contributing to improved engagement and knowledge dissemination.

Abstract

Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases are rising due to community efforts to eliminate mosquito nests. This impacts how people act. Community educators known as "Jumantik cadres" are using the YARSI University DHF Counseling Mobile Application. This app was created by YARSI University researchers in 2019-2020 and was introduced in Ciseeng village on July 29, 2021. Fifteen cadres learned to use it both online and offline. They were tested with surveys about DHF knowledge. Results showed limited understanding after using the app (e.g. only 13.3% understood headaches, 40% knew about nausea). Interviews also helped understand app use. Interestingly, 40% knew about the Aedes aegypti mosquito's life cycle. Some wrong ideas persisted (26.7% thought birds' drinking spots couldn't breed mosquitoes, and 53.3% understood mosquito bites). The YARSI app was liked for being easy to use. It helps Jumantik cadres educate and increase awareness about DHF. By using this app, they can share knowledge and fight against DHF more effectively.

Abstract

English language learning is an integral part of basic education in Indonesia today. However, not all students have equal opportunities to learn English. Elementary school children in Kucur village, in particular, are among those who lack sufficient access to learning English outside the classroom due to their family circumstances. Fortunately, there is a Learning Center called Cakrawangsa managed by the local youth organization (Karang Taruna) in Krajan hamlet, Kucur village. This center provides educational assistance to students. However, the center lacks permanent human resources to support students in learning English. In 2021, the community engagement team from Ma Chung University conducted once-a-week fun English learning sessions. Based on the evaluation results of the program, the participants greatly enjoyed the fun learning approach delivered by the Ma Chung University community engagement team. However, some students still struggled to memorize English vocabulary and pronounce it accurately. Therefore, the proposing team suggests a supplementary English learning program using an enjoyable method that has the potential to enhance vocabulary mastery. Based on conducted studies, the proposing team has developed a relevant board game tailored to the students' environment as an engaging and effective tool to support English language teaching.

Abstract

The problem that occurred at SMA Muhammadiyah X Surakarta City based on guidance and counseling (BK) data, namely poor emotional management. Supportive observations and interviews, including mentioning nicknames of friends you don't like; mocking each other; not accepting criticism or suggestions from others; as well as unstable mood. Poor emotional management is caused by students not knowing how to manage emotions. The purpose of this psychoeducation is to provide an understanding of the importance of emotional management and training in skills to manage emotions well. The interventions used in psychoeducation are butterfly hug practices and positive affirmations, as well as breathing relaxation practices. To determine the progress of students' understanding of emotional management material, a scale of emotional management knowledge before and after psychoeducation is given. As a result, students' understanding of emotional management has improved. Students come to know there are 2 kinds of emotions (positive and negative), and relaxation is one way to manage emotions. Based on the results of psychoeducation and findings in the field, providing psychoeducation with butterfly hug practices and positive affirmations, as well as breathing relaxation practices can help improve students' knowledge and ability to manage their emotions.
