Abstract

Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND), caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus, poses a major threat to the cultivation of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) due to its high mortality rate. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of bacteriophage therapy on the non-specific immune response of shrimp, assessed through Differential Hemocyte Count (DHC) analysis. The research was conducted over six months using a Completely Randomized Design with seven treatment groups, including positive control (KP), negative control (KN), antibiotic treatment (KA), and three bacteriophage dosages: 10⁷ PFU/mL (FB7), 10⁸ PFU/mL (FB8), and 10⁹ PFU/mL (FB9), all challenged with V. parahaemolyticus at 10⁵ CFU/mL. DHC observations were carried out on days 0, 1, 3, and 7 post-treatment. The results indicated that the bacteriophage-treated group, particularly FB9 (10⁹ PFU/mL), maintained a hyaline cell proportion of 50–57% through day 7, similar to the immune profile of the negative control. In contrast, the positive control exhibited a marked decrease in hyaline cells and an increase in granular cells, indicating an immune response to infection. Bacteriophage application, especially at high dosage (FB9), effectively stimulated the shrimp's immune response by preserving hyaline cell levels, making it a promising eco-friendly alternative for AHPND control.

Abstract

Given the complexity of the Banda Sea, which has rapidly changing environmental factors, studies are needed to determine the optimal location for important fishing, such as bigeye tuna (BET). To map optimal fishing locations, statistical and machine-learning methods are used through an understanding of the dynamics of chlorophyll-a (Chlo) concentrations and sea surface temperature (SST) and fish catch data as key factors. Using the fishing logbook and oceanographic data from 2014 to 2022, this study applies the methods of generalized Additive Model (GAM) and Empirical Cumulative Distribution Function (ECDF) to analyze the effect of Chlo and SSTs on Catch per Unit Efforts (CPUEs). Due to GAM's suboptimal performance, ECDF is chosen as the primary method. Determining the optimal value range using k-means and the elbow method showed an optimal Chlo range of 0.087–0.30 mg/m³ and SST of 29.46–30.45°C. The analysis showed the best catching conditions from January to March. These findings support sustainable fishing by providing a monthly map of optimal fishing zones, helping fishers adapt to dynamic conditions. Further research is suggested to integrate real-time data and advanced techniques to improve location accuracy.

Abstract

Udang vaname (Litopenaeus vannamei) merupakan salah satu komoditas unggulan di sektor perikanan budidaya Indonesia dengan potensi ekonomi yang besar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor teknis dan sosial ekonomi yang memengaruhi keberhasilan budidaya udang vaname di berbagai wilayah Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan multisitus, dimana data dikumpulkan dari 12 lokasi budidaya di Indonesia melalui laporan resmi produksi, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup (Survival Rate/SR). Selain itu, aspek sosial ekonomi seperti pelatihan teknis, akses modal, dan dukungan kelembagaan juga dianalisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya variasi signifikan antar lokasi dalam produksi, efisiensi pakan, dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup, yang dipengaruhi oleh praktik manajemen usaha serta faktor sosial ekonomi. Efisiensi pakan dan pengelolaan kualitas air terbukti sebagai faktor teknis utama yang mendukung keberhasilan budidaya, sementara pelatihan dan dukungan kelembagaan menjadi faktor sosial ekonomi yang memperkuat produktivitas dan keberlanjutan usaha. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya integrasi faktor teknis dan sosial ekonomi serta pendekatan manajemen yang adaptif untuk mendukung keberhasilan budidaya udang vaname di Indonesia.

Abstract

Rumput laut coklat dikenal sebagai sumber senyawa bioaktif yang memiliki potensi signifikan dalam aplikasi nutraseutika dan kosmeseutika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kandungan dan manfaat rumput laut coklat sebagai antioksidan melalui metode telaah literatur yang menggunakan database elektronik seperti Google Scholar, MDPI, Connected Papers, dan PubMed dengan kata kunci seperti Rumput laut coklat, antioksidan, kosmeseutikal, dan nutraseutikal. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi senyawa aktif utama, termasuk fucoidan, polifenol, dan phlorotannin, yang menunjukkan aktivitas protektif terhadap kerusakan oksidatif seluler. Selain itu, senyawa dalam rumput laut coklat memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang efektif dalam menangkal radikal bebas dan memberikan efek pelembab, sehingga menjadikannya bahan yang potensial dalam produk kosmetik dan pangan fungsional. Dengan sifat-sifat bioaktifnya, rumput laut coklat dapat dikembangkan menjadi alternatif yang berkelanjutan untuk industri nutraseutikal dan kosmeseutikal, menawarkan solusi yang inovatif bagi konsumen yang mencari produk dengan bahan alami dan ramah lingkungan. Potensi ini membuka peluang bagi pengembangan produk berbasis rumput laut yang dapat memenuhi permintaan pasar akan solusi perawatan kesehatan dan kecantikan yang lebih alami dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of substitution of C. racemosa fermented sea grape flour in the feed formulation on tilapia. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Fish Production and Reproduction, University of Mataram for 50 days from March-May 2022. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments tested were control (P1), 4% fermented sea grape flour (P2), 8% fermented sea grape flour (P3), and 12% fermented sea grape flour (P4). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 5% level with 95% confidence interval and continued with Duncan's test. The results showed that the average absolute weight of fish for 50 days of rearing mass with artificial feeding and at various concentrations of fermented C. racemosa sea grape flour ranged from 9.43-11.58 g, absolute length ranged from 2.24-2 .90 cm, and the specific growth rate ranged from 2.36 to 2.64%/day. Then for the efficiency of feed utilization (EPP ranges from 76.8-95.8%, feed conversion ratio (FCR) ranges from 1.05-1.31 and survival (SR) ranges from 90-97%. Conclusions from this study that the addition of the concentration of fermented C. racemosa sea grape flour can affect the absolute weight of tilapia, but does not affect the absolute length, specific growth rate, FCR value, feed efficiency, and survival rate. 4% (P2) gave the best result because it could increase the absolute weight of tilapia by 11.58 g

Abstract

Ikan kakap merah memiliki kandungan nutrisi tinggi, menjadi komoditas penting industri pengolahan. Pengendalian mutu dalam pengolahan hasil perikanan memegang peran penting untuk dapat menghasilkan produk olahan yang aman dan layak untuk dikonsumsi. Produk fillet kakap merah CO memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi yang telah menembus pasar luar negeri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengendalian mutu fillet kakap merah CO melalui penerapan alur proses, pengujian organoleptik dan mikrobiologi, penerapan rantai dingin, dan rendemen yang dihasilkan. Penelitian dilakukan selama Januari – Mei 2024 bertempat di salah satu UPI di Surabaya melalui pendekatan observasi dan studi literatur. Proses pengolahan telah sesuai SNI 2696:2013 tentang fillet ikan beku dengan 20 alur proses. Mutu produk secara organoleptik telah memenuhi syarat regulasi keamanan pangan yang berlaku, demikian juga hasil uji mikrobiologi pada produk, air dan peralatan yang digunakan.  Rantai dingin diterapkan dengan optimal dengan menjaga suhu pusat produk di bawah 5 oC. Rendemen yang dihasilkan selama proses dan akhir produksi telah memenuhi kriteria yakni berkisar antara 41-43% pada produk akhir.

Abstract

Research on the level of liking of fishcake from raw materials of different types of fish meat was conducted in May 2024. This study aims to determine the level of panelists' preference for the type of fish meat used to make otak-otak. Organoleptic data was processed using a non-parametric test in the form of the Friedman test and using the Bayes test for decision making. The organoleptic test on appearance resulted in an average score of 7.53 for snapper; 5.80 for tilapia; and 4.86 for skipjack. Organoleptic test on aroma resulted in an average score of 6.60 for snapper; 6.20 for tilapia; and 5.93 for skipjack. Organoleptic test on texture resulted in an average score of 6.73 for snapper; 5.26 for tilapia; and 4.60 for skipjack. The organoleptic test on flavor produced an average score of 7.13 for snapper; 6.73 for tilapia; and 5.26 for skipjack. The decision-making method using the Bayes test shows that taste is the most important criterion in this study with the highest criterion weight of 0.46 and snapper is the most preferred brain-brain with an alternative value of 7 and a priority value of 21.54.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the best formulation and the effect of adding Ulva lactuca seaweed pulp on the acceptability and nutritional value of chips. In this study, 4 treatments were carried out with different concentrations of algal slurry, with F0 as control (without addition of U. lactuca slurry), F1 with addition of 20% slurry, F2 up to 40%, and F3 up to 50%. The parameters tested were hedonic tests, water content, protein content, fat content, ash content, crude fiber, carbohydrates and dietary fiber. The Kruskal-Wallis test is used in hedonic test data analysis. The test results showed that the best formulation of F3 was achieved with the highest fiber content, namely 31.74%, protein 6.98%, ash 1.30%, fat 26.45%, carbohydrates 63.32%, and the panelists liked in all parameters. The conclusion of this research is that the addition of seaweed pulp leads to an increase in fiber value and not a decrease in consumer preferences for all parameters.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of enriching KW21 fertilizer with different doses on the density and growth of Chlorella sp. KW21 fertilizer is a liquid fertilizer containing high levels of the chemical nitrogen and is quite reliable for laboratory scale microalgae culture. Research method was carried out using 3 treatments with 6 repetitions. The treatments given were treatment P0 (control with a dose of 1 ml KW21 fertilizer), treatment P1 (addition of KW21 fertilizer with a dose of 2 ml), treatment P2 (addition of KW21 fertilizer with a dose of 3 ml). The parameters observed include daily density, daily growth rate and water quality. Next, the data was analyzed descriptively, qualitatively and quantitatively. The data test used is one way anova. The research results showed that differences in the use of fertilizer doses had an effect on the growth and density of Chlorella sp. On the third to fifth day, the cell density of Chlorella sp was in the exponential phase. The treatment of adding 3 ml dose of KW21 fertilizer on the 5th day showed the best results, namely with a cell density of 3.497.083 cells/ml/day, a daily growth rate of 0,71 ± 0,04 cells/ml per day, with average water quality during culture, the temperature is 21-240C , pH 6,1-7,5, DO 4,3-6,1mg/l.

Abstract

Hadirnya wahana Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) membuat survei kualitas air pada wilayah perairan yang luas menjadi lebih mudah dan cepat serta dapat meminimalkan risiko pada pengambilan data di wilayah yang berbahaya. Namun, dikarenakan USV sering mengalami kerusakan terutama pada bagian propulsinya dan sulit dalam melakukan perawatan sensor maka diperlukan instrumen pengukur kualitas air yang dapat dilepas pasang. Penelitian ini bertujuan prototipe instrumen pengukur kualitas air yang dapat dilepas pasang pada USV dan mengukur seberapa efektifnya kinerja sensor pada instrumen tersebut. Pengukuran suhu menggunakan sensor suhu DS18B20, pH Module 4502C, TDS Meter DFRobot, dan GPS Ublox Neo-8M. Sedangkan, sistem komunikasi datanya menggunakan modul Long Range (LoRA) Ebyte E32 433T20D sebagai sistem dengan frekuensi gelombang radio 433 MHz. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan tingkat akurasi sensor sudah sangat baik bahkan melebihi tingkat akurasi pada spesifikasi teknisnya namun untuk akurasi GPS masih rendah karena pengambilan data dilakukan pada kondisi cuaca berawan, Bagitu juga dengan kekuatan transmisi sinyal hanya optimal pada jarak <1.300 m. Di sisi lain, tingkat presisi sensor masih kurang baik sehingga pengukuran data menjadi tidak stabil dan berubah-ubah. Hasil olahan data kualitas air mampu divisualisasikan secara spasial karena terdapat data koordinat untuk setiap parameter kualitas air yang diukur.
