Abstract

The recovery of the tourism sector in Indonesia, especially Labuan Bajo, can be overcome by utilizing technological developments and social media such as TikTok. Tassy is one of the traveling content creators who often shares traveling content on TikTok. This study aims to determine how much influence electronic word of mouth (variable X1 ) Labuan Bajo content and celebrity endorsers (variable X2 ) on the TikTok @tassy.sy account on visiting interest (variable Y) Generation Z. The theory used in this research is Source Credibility Theory. The research method used is explanatory quantitative. The sample technique uses Purposive Sampling by distributing questionnaires through TikTok. The research population is followers of the TikTok account @tassy.sy and obtained a sample size of 100 results from the Taro Yamane formula. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show that E-WOM and celebrity endorsers each have a positive and significant effect on visiting interest, with the magnitude of the influence of celebrity endorsers (0.827) greater than E-WOM (0.729). Meanwhile, the interaction between E-WOM and celebrity endorsers has a negative effect on interest in visiting, meaning that the knowledge gained through celebrity endorser accounts on TikTok elaborated with E-WOM related to Labuan Bajo does not increase interest in visiting. The coefficient of determination shows that the contribution of E-WOM on Labuan Bajo content and celebrity endorsers on the @tassy.sy TikTok account to visiting interest is 92.3%.

Abstract

Some research indicates that sexuality and disability are two taboo concepts that are rarely combined. Individuals with disabilities are often portrayed as asexual or hypersexual. The film Why Do You Love Me (2023) attempts to break these stereotypes and depicts sexuality as a symbol of empowerment through the story of three friends with disabilities embarking on a journey to lose their virginity. This study aims to analyze how the film portrays sexuality and virginity of individuals with disabilities. Using a qualitative approach, the research uses critical disability theory and multimodal discourse analysis with critical standpoint to identify dialogues and scenes in the film related to dominant ideologies and accuracy in disability representation. Despite raising a unique theme and diversifying the representation of individuals with disabilities in mainstream media, the results reveal that the practice of “cripping up” perpetuates dominant perspectives and diction in the film’s lexical and visual elements. It uses sexuality and virginity as selling points to determine the social status of men with disabilities amidst societal norms of masculinity. Humor and cinematographic techniques still employ ableist discourses, suggesting the need of men with disabilities for accommodation from the dominant group. Insights for altering cinematic representations of disabilities are explored.

Abstract

This research examines Taylor Swift’s concert documentary movie called The Eras Tour (2023) that created a shift in audience’s cinema experience by not customarily watching a movie but emerge themselves which resulting in a ‘concert-feel- like’ activity. This study shows an alternative and complement live performance and streaming technology that previously researched by Scherzinger (2019) as music distribution method. Using Hjarvard’s concept of mediatization and Harvey’s theory of the production of space, I analyze how this movie concert influences audience interactions which create a new social space within cinema. Data were collected through interviews and social media documentation to examine the watching experience of The Eras Tour (2023) movie. This research finds that this mediatized concert acts as an incomplete substitution for live performances, positioning cinema as a concert space due to the implications of mediatization. Additionally, the research reveals that audience interactions beyond merely watching the movie demonstrate an amalgamation process that fosters solidarity within the fandom. Interestingly, this phenomenon generally ‘breaks the rules’ of traditional cinema logic due to the amalgamations that occur. Thus, this research shows that the mediatized concert acts as an incomplete substitution of live performance, which contribute to modern practice of mediatization in media and music industry.

Abstract

This study explores how Gen Y and Gen Z parents engage with children’s health information on Instagram, a popular topic on the platform. Using qualitative methods, researchers conducted in-depth interviews with parents who actively follow health- focused accounts. Findings show that parents’ content perception begins at the selection stage, with most preferring content created by doctors. They favor science-based, easily understood information and are drawn to doctors and influencers who communicate with empathy and clarity. Gen Z parents, typically with younger children, prioritize physical health, while Gen Y parents, often with older children, focus on psychological development. Gen Y is more open to longer text- based content, whereas Gen Z prefers audiovisual formats and still often refers to mom-influencers for children’s health information aside from doctors. The study suggests that health institutions should equip doctors with content creation skills, policymakers should encourage reliance on scientifically backed information, and health educators should personalize messages to connect effectively with each generation. Further studies should explore how fathers perceive health-related information from social media since the parents represented in this article are all mothers.

Abstract

Marine climate change has resulted in a decline in the economic level of fishermen, especially small-scale fishermen who depend on marine resources to meet their daily needs. In addition, the poverty experienced by fishermen reflects economic vulnerability due to low and unstable incomes, which are caused by fluctuating market prices, a lack of alternative livelihoods, insufficient cooperation and support networks, and the prevalence of illegal fishing practices. By carrying out dialogue in the public sphere effectively, a supportive environment can be created for small-scale fishermen to optimize the potential of the public sphere in improving the family economy through increasing human resource skills. In this framework, coastal women play a vital role in the economic activities of small-scale fishermen's households through alternative economies. This research aims to investigate the role of dialogue in the public sphere to improve the economy of small-scale fishermen in coastal areas and explore the role of women in efforts to improve the family economy. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The research results show that dialogue in the public sphere has been recognized as a means of building better understanding between various parties in society, as well as the importance of involving women in family economic decision-making. This research provides implications from the concept of dialogue theory in the public sphere, reflecting the concept of community participation and creating mutual agreement through open communication and the exchange of ideas in formulating solutions to improve the family economy.

Abstract

As a contributor to the country's foreign exchange and job openings for the Indonesian people, it is appropriate for MSMEs to be one of the priorities in government programs. The government has made many efforts to empower MSMEs, including through Government Regulation (PP) Number 7 of 2021 concerning the Facilitation, Protection, and Empowerment of MSME Cooperatives. Previous research explains that higher education empowers MSMEs by conducting several community service programs for MSME actors. This research aims to dig deeper into the digital literacy owned by the Teras Ciapus MSME Community members in Bogor Regency and their challenges in improving digital literacy. Focus Group Discussions and in- depth interviews use qualitative methods in this study. The FGD was conducted for 63 active members of the Ciapus Terrace community. S The measurement standard used in this FGD activity is to identify the experience of members of the Ciapus Core Community in using digital marketing. An in-depth interview was conducted with the chairman and four Teras Ciapus MSME Community members. The results of the study found that there is still a low level of digital literacy owned by members of the Ciapus Teras community. All community members have digital devices, such as smartphones, but have not used them optimally. Several challenges they face include social and cultural barriers, lack of awareness of ICT use, and unequal opportunities for members to participate in digital training activities. The results of this research hope to provide strategic input for the government, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders in supporting the development of MSMEs through strengthening digital literacy.

Abstract

Communication in the health industry can influence patient satisfaction. Patient satisfaction is an essential factor that can stimulate changes in healthcare quality through temporary patient-centred policies that communicate patient engagement in treatment decisions. However, patient satisfaction is challenging to define broadly, and satisfaction surveys do not often represent patient expectations. Numerous hospital customer satisfaction studies do not guarantee the outcomes of customer satisfaction questionnaires that deeply examine patients' perspectives on their intended goals or objectives. This study will examine how patient communication experiences, particularly for inpatients and hospital services, might shape expectations through data gathering via interviews and focus group discussions. This research utilizes communication experiences as the object of this research and the perspective of hospitalized patients or their families as the subject. Data was collected through interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) to acquire information directly from the experiences of patients or patient families in four public hospitals in West Java Province with levels B and A. This study employs a qualitative analysis method that integrates a phenomenological approach and theories, using the Press Geney Experiment Patient Experience Survey as an analysis tool. The study's findings demonstrate that providing patients with relevant information at the right moment can make them feel more at ease and optimistic about their treatment and build trust in healthcare facilities.
