Abstract

The 2024 General Election will be held on February 14th, 2024. As this nation's most significant political agenda, all groups are involved in the 2014 General Election. Because of this, there is expected to be a discourse battle in every election involving political actors, the mass media, and the public. Not only do information and news form positive discourse, but negative discourse also spreads. The public, candidates, and state actors color the public media space with clear information and good news and salt it with dirty information. Hoax on social media in media and fake news among the masses in the 2024 general election threaten social cohesion and national integration, as happened in the 2014 and 2019 general elections. There must be efforts to stem the spread of hoax and fake news. One of them is digital literacy, including digital media literacy. This research aims to analyze the construction of digital literacy, including digital media, in the 2024 general election to stem hoax and fake news in the 2024 general election. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and library data. The research results show that, firstly, the election moment is a time that is prone to the circulation of hoax and fake news. This is where digital literacy skills, including digital media literacy, emerge. Second, at a macro level, the state is responsible for digital literacy programs, including digital media literacy. Third, public communication between the Ministry of Communication and Information and the community is a vital bridge that must continue to be maintained and improve its effectiveness and efficiency so that the state's role in building digital literacy, including digital media literacy, is realized as quickly as possible.

Abstract

Brand positioning is an effort to position the perception of a brand for consumers. The strength of brand positioning has the power to drive consumers to provide more value than competitors, which can be supported by the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) model. This research is based on efforts to improve and strengthen the brand positioning held by Polytechnic Caltex Riau. This is supported by the achievement of student admissions to Polytechnic Caltex Riau, which has shown a positive trend over the past five years amidst intense competition among vocational higher education institutions. This study explores how the IMC implemented by Polytechnic Caltex Riau can help strengthen brand positioning. The research method used in this study is qualitative, with data collection conducted directly and indirectly, and the sample selection technique is purposive sampling. The results of the research analysis found that the Integrated Marketing Communication of Polytechnic Caltex Riau is divided into two categories: the high category (Sales Promotion, Advertising, Sponsorship, Exhibitions, Merchandising, Social media, and Website) and the low category (Direct Marketing, Public Relations, Packaging, and Selling and Sales Management). The implementation process of marketing communication activities at Polytechnic Caltex Riau has seven layers of marketing tools, which the researcher refers to as the wafer layer marketing communication model. It is hoped that the IMC model used by Polytechnic Caltex Riau, which has seven stages in marketing communication activities including the Report, student admission announcement, Socialization, Follow Up, Engagement Program, Workshop, and Goes to School Program, can be used by other campuses to strengthen the brand positioning of vocational higher education institutions.

Abstract

Dapur Sehat Atasi Stunting (Healthy Kitchen Overcomes Stunting) or DAHSAT is one intervention step that was launched by BKKBN to tackle the problem of stunting. This study aimed to elucidate the communication strategy of BKKBN Jawa Tengah when implementing DAHSAT in Semarang. The Communication Strategy will be further examined in the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. This research was conducted using the case study method through in-depth interview techniques. BKKBN has not been optimal in developing the communication strategy of the DAHSAT Program, especially at the stage of mapping the sociodemographic aspects of the target audience. The research result indicates that BKKBN Jawa Tengah had not fully implemented a structured communication strategy. Even though it is not optimal, the health communication process that occurs in the implementation of DAHSAT has helped some communities understand what stunting is and how to prevent it.

Abstract

Cinderella’s character and feminist ideology are contradictory. The phrase “Cinderella Complex Syndrome,” which refers to women’s dread of independence, supports this idea. Fairy tales are full of beautiful, passive, submissive princesses, as well as bold, independent female constrained by archaic gender stereotypes. They uphold conventional norms about gender roles and value. Fairy tale adaptation is not a new phenomenon; for centuries, people have used it to further their objectives, uphold their cultural standards, and further their ideologies. The construction of feminism in Cinderella rhyme via podcast is the main focus of this study. This rendition carries the feminist ideals while representing an unexpected tale. This study uses discourse analysis methodology, relying on the ideas of liberal feminism and Linda Hutcheon’s theory of adaptation. According to this theory, adaptation encompasses both the process and the final output. It is evident from Cinderella’s podcast that retelling of the narrative is dependent on the story teller’s perception and incorporates a new ideology – liberal feminism, which is associated with the second wave of feminism. This study shows how the liberal feminism ideology in Cinderella’s rhyme is constructed through modifications in the storyline and characterization. This Cinderella portrayal gives more depth that doesn’t match the image of a traditional princess and shows that she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to. This Cinderella adaptation tale shows Cinderella active role that frees herself from her oppressor as the development of liberal feminism in her character. Cinderella’s assertive voice in voicing her demands and desires also supports the liberal feminism idea.

Abstract

The vaccination program is an important effort to combat the pandemic, starting from the initial doses of vaccines to booster shots. However, the program has not yet achieved its intended target. In August, the booster vaccination coverage in Semarang City was only 53%, falling short of the desired 80% (KompasTV, 2022). Therefore, there is a pressing need for persuasive measures to enhance knowledge, awareness, and decision- making regarding vaccination. This study aims to identify an effective model of vaccine persuasion for public communication in Semarang City. It is an exploratory study that applies the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) theory and the diffusion of innovations, involving a sample of 100 respondents. The collected data was analyzed using PLS 3.0. The results reveal that persuasion using different lines of thought (central route and peripheral route) leads to distinct stages of innovation diffusion. Both new media and traditional media are considered suitable platforms for vaccine persuasion, provided they incorporate key elements such as high-quality information, credible sources, accessibility, well-structured messages, and interactivity.

The predominant sentiments expressed are anger and disappointment, with negative responses prompting demands for government transparency regarding the potential link between flexing and corruption allegations.
