Abstract

Cerpen Kartini merupakan salah satu cerpen yang terdapat pada kumpulan cerpen Klop karya Putu Wijaya. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah fenomena budaya patriarki yang mendominasi budaya di masyarakat telah membuat budaya kesetaraan gender tersingkir. Dalam cerpen ini, terdapat pandangan awal bahwa budaya patriarki merupakan budaya yang wajar terjadi di masyarakat. Dalam cerpen ini, budaya patriarki didekonstruksi oleh pandangan tokoh wanita yang membongkar makna melalui tokoh yang dihadirkan. Kartini dianggap sebagai tokoh pejuang wanita yang memperjuangkan kesetaraan gender. Perjuangan Kartini sebagai sosok wanita yang menginspirasi wanita masa kini bukanlah sebuah konsep. Wanita mewarisi kemerdekaan dan kebebasan untukberaktualisasi diri. Pandangan ini belum banyak dipahami oleh sebagian besar masyarakat yang belum mampu memaknai perjuangan Kartini. Teori yang dipakai adalah Dekonstruksi Jacques Derrida. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dekonstruksi budaya terdapat dalam cerpen Kartini dilakukan melalui pembalikan oposisi biner melalui titik aporia yang terdapat dalam dialog dan ulasan tentang tokoh-tokoh dalam cerpen Kartini.

Abstract

The research aims to investigate the use of non-verbal communication in academic presentation and to describe the reasons of the use of non-verbal communication by students of the in academic presentation at English department, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Qualitative method was employed in this research particularly case study design. The participants were three students of fourth semester of English department who were taking public speaking subject. To collect the data, three techniques were employed; observation, questionnaire, and interview. The researcher used observation to find out the types of non-verbal communication in academic presentation. The questionnaire and interview were used to answer the reasons toward the use of non-verbal communication in academic presentation. Afterwards, the data were further analyzed by using qualitative data analysis method of Miles, Huberman, Saldana theory. The data analysis showed that: gesture was non-verbal communication which the most frequently used by the students. Moreover, students preferred to use gesture and eye contact: The former was used to help conveying the communicative more easily, the later was used to make the presentation more interesting. It can be stated that non-verbal communication is helpful for the students in making presentation performance.

Abstract

This study discussed about types and functions of interpersonal metadiscourse markers in newspaper article opinion. Interpersonal metadiscourse holds significant role in writing, especially in opinion article, since it reflects writer’s position towards both the content of text and reader. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, and the data are taken from opinion articles in The Jakarta Post online, an Indonesian English newspaper. The results of the study suggest that the types of interpersonal metadiscourse markers, such as hedges, certainty markers, attributors, attitude markers, and commentaries are used in the opinion articles. . The results also reveal that the types of markers hold some specific functions in the texts. Hedges help the writers withhold their opinion, while certainty markers function to emphasize it. Attributors function to support the writers’ arguments and attitude markers express their attitudes towards the text and readers. Finally, commentaries help them to build relationship with their readers.

Abstract

This research aims to find the type, function, and meaning of any language style contained in the song lyrics of Iwan Fals album 50:50 2007. This study examines each song lyrics contained therein, and grouping them according to the type of language style, as well as studying its function, then knowing the meaning to be conveyed through the lyrics of the song. This study uses a qualitative approach using content analysis methods. The researcher first collected data in the form of song lyrics, then conducted an analysis of the linguistic style of song lyrics by Iwan Fals in the 50:50 2007 album to find the function of the type of language style found, as well as what meaning was contained in it. The research results found by researchers namely in the 50:50 2007 album found 3 types of language style groups, namely: (1) comparative language styles, (2) conflicting language styles, (3) affirmative language styles. Of all the existing language styles, the author is more dominant to use a metaphorical language style in conveying the message to be conveyed through the lyrics of the song. By finding the style of language in the lyrics of the song, the reader can understand the message conveyed. The results found by researchers, the 50:50 album by Iwan Fals is more dominant using the style of the metaphorical language. The use of metaphorical style of language is considered to represent the feelings of the writer to be conveyed to the listener or reader.

Abstract

According to Law No. 40 of 1999 concerning mass media, press has the function to educate. Moreover, according to Alwi (2011: viii) the language used by the press has more influence than the language used by teachers in school. Based on that, the mass media has an obligation to promote Indonesian language properly and correctly. Proper Indonesian is to use the language in accordance with the communication situation, while using Indonesian correctly is using language in accordance with the rules. The suitability of the rules based on the guidelines recognized and published by the Ministry of Education and Culture’s National Agency for Language Development and Books, namely the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling and Indonesian Language, Foreign Language Guidelines and the Large Indonesian Dictionary. This research sought to examine the use of foreign terms in four printed newspaper in Banten Province, namely Radar Banten, Banten News, Banten Post, and Banten Raya which were published in July 2018 with 23 headline news articles. This research employed descriptive qualitative method with data analysis steps, namely (1) listening; (2) identification and classification of data based on the use of foreign terms found; (3) data interpretation; and (4) making conclusions. Based on the results of data analysis, it is found that there are twenty-five (25) data of foreign terms that have been absorped or translated but are not written in the equivalent form or translation. There are also fifteen (15) data that indicate errors in writing based on the standard form of foreign terms that have Indonesian word equivalents and four (4) data that do not have word equivalents but their writing are not in accordance with the guidelines, which must be underlined or italized

Abstract

Data showed that the decrease of ational Final Examination (UA) scores on Indonesiansubjects had not been investigating in-depth, but it must be responded by finding out the main problemand the solution. It was expected that there were many factors involved in the decrease of (UA)scores on Indonesian subjects in 2010. One of them is the unreadable questions of UA especially onIndonesian subjects. This research was done to find out one of alternative solution which is relatedwith analyzing the cognitive level in every item of the Indonesian subjects questions of UA. Thesamples of this research are 100 junior high school students in Surabaya, which are divided in to twoschool that are SMP 13 (50 students) and SMP Dharma Wanita (50 students). The result that wasachieved in this research was to know the type of both, the easy questions and the difficult one. Bydoing that, teacher know the question criteria which are easy or difficult for their students inpreparing the U especially Indonesian subjects.

Abstract

Seiring arus globalisasi pemudaran identitas bangsa kerap terjadi. Identitas bangsa terbaca dan terwujud dalam produk kultural. Tradisi lisan sebagai produk kultural menyimpan kearifan lokal, kebijakan, filosofi, dan identitas karena di sanalah terletak akar budaya sebagai kultur Indonesia. Isu penting yang menghadang Indonesia saat ini, kemiskinan, ketimpangan sosial, identitas, dan nasionalisme. Pembangunan yang hanya berorientasi pada pertumbuhan ekonomi memudarkan identitas dan nasionalisme. Upaya penguatan identitas dan nasionalosme adalah memberikan perhatian pada pembangunan dan pengembangan budaya. Masalah penelitian adalah bagaimanakomunitas adat Sinarresmi mampu memenuhi kebutuhan hidup sehari-hari dan bagaimana mereka memanfaatkan akar tradisi ke dalam industri kreatif. Tujuannya mendeskripsikan komunitas adat Sinarresmi yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan hidup dan memanfaatkan akar tradisi ke dalam industi kreatif. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan modern. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mereka bisa mengelola alam tanpa merusak alam, secara ekonomi bisa menafkahi diri dari alam dengan pranata sosial yang berjalan harmonis.

Abstract

Literary works as a reflection of society in their era. As a reflection of society, literary works raise the culture of society by the time or before the literary work was written. Leila S. Chudori's novel entitled Pulang can be said to be a historical work by bringing up major historical events namely the bloody tragedy of 30 September 1965, the French revolution in 1968 and also the events of 1998 in Indonesia. According to Lukacs, historical novels and social novels are the same because a social event in the past will be history for the present generation. Based on this, this study uses Georg Lukacs's theory of socialism realism. The theory states that the pure fact of nature arises when a real world phenomenon is placed (in the mind or in reality) into an environment where its laws can be monitored without the need for internal intervention. In doing so, we will be arrived at an understanding of the external forms of phenomena and think of them as forms, in which the deepest core can certainly emerge. With simple language the knowledge of the totality of facts from events must be understood the real existence and the deepest core of the facts. In Pulang's novel by Leila S. Chudori, there is a social reality that has never been learned at school. Facts such as the existence of political exiles that are adrift in Europe, torture and slaughter of victims of wrongful arrests, and so on. That explains how the history we learn today is only history made by irresponsible people. Therefore, the social reality in the novel Le Pulang S. Chudori's Pulang is a forgotten Indonesian community life.

Abstract

Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana nilai moral diungkapkan dalam cerpen “Guru” dan“Pengadilan Rakyat” karya Putu Wijaya. Selain itu, juga untuk mengetahui nilai moral apa saja yang diungkapkan dalam cerpen tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, yang memaparkan tulisan berdasarkan isi karya sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam cerpen “Guru” dan “Peradilan Rakyat”, terdapat nilai-nilai moral yang diungkapkan melalui sikap, watak, dan perbuatan para tokoh. Melalui cerpen “Guru”, Putu Wijaya menggambarkan bagaimana kegigihan dan keteguhan tokoh Taksu untuk menjadi guru. Meskipun cita-citanya menjadi guru ditentangoleh ayah dan ibunya, Taksu tetap gigih dan konsekuen. Cerpen “Peradilan Rakyat” juga menggambarkan kegigihan dan konsekuennya tokoh pengacara muda denganprofesionalisme sebagai pengacara.

Abstract

Pembelajaran drama dapat membangun karakter siswa dan menguatkan keberadaan komunitas kebajikan di sekolah. Pembelajaran drama memungkinkan siswa meningkatkan kemampuan berkomunikasi secara langsung melalui praktik, tidak hanya sekadar teori. Karakter siswa pun dapat lebih dipertahankan. Karakter yang dapat dikembangkan dan dipertahankan melalui pembelajaran drama antara lain percaya diri, berani, jujur, disiplin,tenggang rasa/ solidaritas tinggi, komitmen, konsisten, kreatif, dan visioner. Penggunaan quantum learning dan quantum teaching sebagai alternatif metode pembelajaran di kelas dapat meningkatkan minat dan mengembangkan kemampuan dasar siswa.
