Abstract

This study aims to reveal the human character in the anthology "Bulan Kebabian". This study uses the theory of genetic structuralism proposed by Goldmann in Faruk (2014) regarding humanitarian facts. The data source is the short story of anthology "Bulan Kebabian" (2015) published by BELISTRA, Serang, Banten. Data collection was carried out using qualitative descriptive methods and literature. Data analysis is carried out at the level of words and the interweaving of words. And than, the interpretation to obtain the understanding and description of the word and the composition of the sentence in the short story is preceded by the reading, understanding, and analysis of short stories. The conclusions from this study are:First the partiality of ‘Ayah's character in the material resulted he give up his daughter to become a migrant worker, even though in the end he was sorry; Second, rationality and realistic attitude of the character "She" is able to raise him from adversity and look back at the future with his husband and children; Third, love for fellow humans has tremendous significance for the characters "She" and "the river man" in the household.

Abstract

The understanding of native speakers’ culture is an important element that is related to manners and the use of words in the social interactions individually or collectively. Incomprehension and ignorance in using language will cause misunderstanding and may lead to physical or non-physical conflict. The aim of this research is to see the use of politeness principles in daily conversations on the case of English Debating Club in one stateuniversity in Banten. By using the theory of politeness principles of Paul Grice and Geoffrey Leech and collecting the data with the observation and in-depth interview toward the English as foreign language students in English Debating Club, this research shows that the words constructions from the utterances have obeyed the politeness principles maxims, such as tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim and consideration maxim.

Abstract

This research article contains a discussion of the existentialism of the main character in the short story Di Joyoboyo Penyair Berteman Sunyi. The theory used in this research is structural theory especially about the main character in fiction. While the main character's behavior is read from the point of view of Jean Paul Sartre's existentialist philosophy. The method used in this research is analytical descriptive method. The technique used in this research is literature review technique. The result of research is the existentialism of the main character can be felt on the main character anxiety. The anxiety felt by the main characters includes anxiety due to economic conditions, anxiety of desire, to anxiety in itself. Anxiety begins because the choice of poet to choose the poet's profession. Existentialism is also seen when the main character suffered philosophical suicide and physical death.

Abstract

Dalam sastra, sebuah novel adalah suatu ketegangan antara kenyataan dan rekaan. Begitu pula novel Titik Balik Kesunyian karya Ilham Zoebazary. Peristiwa nyata yang terjadi pascakemerdekaan, orde lama, dan orde baru, atau meliputi periode tahun 1948—1970-an ini membentang sepanjang cerita. Novel ini menarik dikaji karena novel ini mampu menukilkan refleksi sejarah di Indonesia pada tahunnya. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan sejarah di Indonesia yang terefleksikan dalam novel Titik Balik Kesunyian (TBK) berikut nilai-nilai sosial-politik yang terdapat di dalamnya. Nilai-nilai sosial yang terdapat dalam novel tersebut meliputi nilai keluarga, masyarakat, cinta kasih, dan sosial-politik Novel Titik Balik Kesunyian karya Ilham Zoebazary merupakan novel berlatar depan peristiwa G 30 September 1965. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskripsi kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra dan menggunakan teori mimetik.

Abstract

Ranu Grati is a lake in Pasuruan Regency, East Java. It has extraordinary beautiful nature. It has a story that is believed by society as a story that actually happened. This study is aimed to describe the structure of folktale “Asal Mula Ranu Grati” with Structuralism Lévi-Strauss approach. This study reveals how is story structure of “Asal Mula Ranu Grati”? The result of study shows there is a stucture configuration get repetition that is called tranformation in the series of story ceriteme and there is deep structure in the series that can be interpreted as cross cultural between Java ethnic and Madura ethnic in Pasuruan Regency.

Abstract

Poetry is arranged beautiful words and understood by the readers. Therefore, poetry is inseparable from the accuracy of the language which is arranged aesthetically and creatively so that the meaning of poetry can be conveyed properly. Interpretive descriptive of images is used as the technique of this research. Image, as a way of looking at the meaning, is identified through the human senses. The method used is interpretative qualitative research method. The formulation of the problem is how the image in the poetru collection of Abdul Salam HS entitled "Malaikat Waringin". The purpose of this research is to describe the image in Abdul Salam HS‟ Poetry Collection. The results from analyzing fifty poems contained in the poetry collection entitled "Malaikat Waringin", it showed that there are 17 visual image data, 9 auditory image data, 4 smell and taste image images, and 6 visualization image data.

Abstract

Kebudayaan merupakan konsep yang sangat luas dan kompleks yang dapat diinterpretasikan secara beragam. Selain kebudayaan universal dikenal pula kebuayaan lokal yangmenyimpan kearifan lokal. Sementara kearifan lokal yang kesemuanya merupakan sebuah kompleksitas kebudayaan. Salah satu budaya tradisi lisan seperti cerita rakyat juga mengandung kearifan lokal dalam isi ceritanya. Cerita rakyat sebagai bagian dari foklore dapat dikatakan menyimpan sejumlah informasi sistem budaya seperti filosofi, nilai, norma, perilaku masyarakat. Demikian pula halnya denan cerita rakyat yang berkembang di Bali. Apabila digali lebih jauh, ceritarakyat mempunyai kedudukan dan fungsi yang sangat penting dalam masyarakat pendukungnya. Dalam cerita rakyat mengandung nilai luhur bangsa terutama nilai-nilai budi pekerti maupun ajaran moral, seperti nilai moral individual, nilai moral sosial, dan nilai moral religi. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan niai-nilai moral yang terkandung dalam cerita rakyat Bali, dan akan didiskripsikan melalui proses kajian hermeneutik Ricoeur. Proses itu dapatmengupas secara saksama perihal nilai moral individu, nilai moral sosial dan nilai moral ketuhanan melalui tokoh-tokoh yang ada dalam cerita, khususnya cerita rakyat Bali.

Abstract

Research on the use of language, sentence, the content of pornography and connotations of pornography, and the content of character education in the campursari song text are aimed to describing at: (1) language, (2) sentence variations, (3)  pornographic content and pornographic connotations, and (4) content character education in the campursari song text. This study included qualitative descriptive research. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences. The data source for this study is ten songs downloaded from the internet. The results of the study: (1) ten songs analyzed by nine song texts used Javanese as the title and one song used the Javanese language and Indonesian language. Of the ten songs, all song texts use Javanese, there are mixed Indonesian language codes into Javanese, mixed Javanese language codes and English into Indonesian, Indonesian language code switching to Javanese, and there are letters written that violate General Guidelines Enhanced Javanese Spelling (PUEBJYD), (2) the use of sentences consists of: (a) declarative sentences, (b) interrogative sentences, and (c) imperative sentences, (3) there are six songs containing pornography and connotations of pornography, and (4) the value of prominent character education is creative, besides that it is a violation of polite and religious values.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan teknik penerjemahan subtitling yang digunakan oleh penerjemah dalam menerjemahkan film Lesson for an Assassin ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerjemah menggunakan delapan teknik penerjemahan, yaitu penambahan, parafrase, transfer, imitasi, pemampatan, penghapusan, penjinakan, dan angkat tangan. Jika diurutkan berdasarkan frekuensi penggunaannya teknik transfer paling banyak digunakan yaitu sebanyak 255 data (46.9%), teknikparafrase 176 data (32.4%), imitasi 65 data (11.9%), penambahan 40 data (7.4%), angkat tangan 28 data (5.2%), penghapusan 15 data (2.8%), pemampatan 13 data (2.4%), dan penjinakan 2 data (0.36%).
