Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the slalom dribble training method on improving the dribbling ability of U-12 SSB Sendang FC players.  The method used for this research is an experiment with a one group pretest-posttest design. The population involved in this study amounted to 55 people, and the sample used was 20 people, using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a soccer skill test (dribbling test). The pretest results showed an average dribbling time of 22.23 seconds, while the posttest results increased with an average time of 20.50 seconds. As shown by the normality and homogeneity tests, the data is normally distributed and homogeneous. Therefore, hypothesis testing can be carried out. The t-test results for paired samples showed a Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that slalom dribble training has a significant effect on the players' dribbling ability. This increase reflects the effectiveness of the method in training players' speed, agility, and coordination. So it is concluded that slalom dribble training can be recommended as a technical coaching method in the development of early childhood soccer dribbling skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of traditional games and motor skills on long jump skills of elementary school students in Metro, Lampung. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a 2×2 factorial experimental design. The study population amounted to 103 students, with a sample of 24 male students selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through motor tests that included agility, coordination, explosive power, and speed. Data analysis was carried out using normality, homogeneity, ANOVA, and hypothesis testing with the help of the SPSS for Windows version 20.0 application. The results showed that: (1) there are differences in long jump skills between students who take part in cricket games and those who take part in jump rope games; (2) there is an interaction between the type of traditional games and motor abilities on long jump skills; (3) there are differences in long jump skills between students with high motor abilities who take part in cricket games and jump rope; and (4) there are differences in long jump skills between students with low motor abilities who take part in cricket games and jump rope. It is concluded that traditional games have a significant influence on the long jump skills of elementary school students in Metro, Lampung.

Abstract

A sedentary lifestyle is a known risk factor for increased anxiety among university students, yet the role of physical activity knowledge in mitigating anxiety remains underexplored. This study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge of physical activity and anxiety levels in students with sedentary lifestyles. Using a quantitative correlational approach with a cross-sectional design, the study involved 80 students aged 19–25 years selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a sedentary behavior questionnaire, a validated and reliable physical activity knowledge questionnaire, and the DASS-21 scale to assess anxiety levels. Statistical analysis employed the Chi-Square test. The results revealed that although most students had moderate to high knowledge, over half still experienced moderate to extremely severe anxiety. A significant association was found between physical activity knowledge and anxiety levels (p = 0.000). These findings suggest that knowledge alone is insufficient to reduce anxiety without corresponding behavioral change. Therefore, integrated educational and physical activity programs are essential to promote mental well-being among university students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of aerobic range of motion exercises on cognitive function of elderly people with dementia-alzeimer. The method in this study is experimental with a pretest and posttest control group design, the researcher involved 28 elderly respondents who were in the senjarawi social home, the respondents in this study consisted of 19 female respondents and 9 male respondents. Measurements were taken using the mini mental state examination (MMSE). The results of this study showed a significant increase between pretest and posttest (p < 0.000), in this study showed that there was a significant difference, this change indicated an improvement in cognitive function in some respondents, characterized by an increase in the number of individuals in the mild category and a decrease in the moderate category after the intervention, this finding can be an early indication that the intervention provided has the potential to have a positive impact on the cognitive function of respondents. Conclusion exercise training (ROM) contributes significantly in improving the cognitive function of elderly with mild to moderate dementia, this affects time recall, short-term memory, comprehension and execution of verbal commands.

Abstract

This study was conducted against the backdrop of increasing sedentary behavior, which is negatively associated with mental health outcomes such as stress and anxiety, particularly among young adults facing academic pressures and psychological stressors. This research aimed to evaluate the effect of Tai Chi exercise on stress, anxiety, and depression levels among nursing students with a sedentary lifestyle. The study employed an experimental design with pretest-posttest assessments, involving 60 students randomly divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group performed Tai Chi exercises for 40 minutes, three times a week, over 21 days, while the control group did not receive any intervention. Data were analyzed using independent t-tests. The results showed a significant decrease in anxiety and stress scores (p=0.001) following the intervention, whereas the effect on depression was not statistically significant (p=0.071). Overall, Tai Chi was effective in reducing anxiety and stress, although it did not significantly impact depression levels. In conclusion, Tai Chi can be used as a non-pharmacological method to improve mental health and reduce stress among students with a sedentary lifestyle.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between grit and mental toughness in pencak silat athletes. This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 60 pencak silat athletes who were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through the grit questionnaire and sport mental toughness questionnaire (SMTQ). The results showed that the level of grit of athletes was in the moderate category as many as 17 athletes (28.3%) and high as many as 43 athletes (71.7%). The distribution of the level of grit, it is known that out of a total of 60 martial arts athletes who were the subject of the study, none of the athletes were in the low grit category (0%). A total of 17 athletes (28.3%) were in the medium grit category, while the majority of athletes, namely 43 people (71.7%), showed a high level of grit. The bivariate test results using the Chi-Square correlation test showed a relationship between grit and mental toughness (p=0.000). The conclusion of this study states that there is a significant relationship between grit and mental toughness in pencak silat athletes.

Abstract

The relationship between physical activity intensity, cardiorespiratory fitness and sleep duration has become a vital health issue among students. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between physical activity intensity, cardiorespiratory fitness and sleep time in sports students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. Using a cross-sectional design, this research was conducted on a sample of 102 students (68 men, 34 women) aged 18 to 25 years, who were selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) to assess the intensity of physical activity, the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) to assess cardiorespiratory fitness, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to assess sleep duration. Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression were used in data analysis. The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between physical activity intensity and cardiorespiratory fitness (r = 0.642, p < 0.001), a moderate positive correlation between physical activity intensity and sleep duration (r = 0.468, p < 0.001), and a significant correlation between cardiorespiratory fitness and sleep duration (r = 0.537, p < 0.001). This study confirms that maintaining adequate physical activity levels plays an important role in improving cardiorespiratory fitness and increasing optimal sleep duration in college students.

Abstract

This study aims to identify factors that influence the motivation of physical education, sport and health teachers in carrying out learning in Kalikotes Sub-district, Klaten District. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, this study involved 12 PJOK teachers as respondents. Data were obtained through questionnaires that included intrinsic factors, such as enjoyment of teaching, as well as extrinsic factors, such as rewards, work environment, school support, students, and peers. Data collection was carried out using an instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The results showed that the level of motivation of PJOK teachers was classified as very high, with an achievement of 88.26%. Analysis of pleasure 88.75%, analysis of reward aspects 87.92%, analysis of environmental aspects 85%, analysis of school aspects 87.50%, analysis of student aspects 91.25%, analysis of friend aspects 88.26%. This motivation is formed through a combination of internal drive and external support. A sense of enthusiasm in teaching is the main factor from within the teacher, while a supportive work atmosphere, appreciation, and positive social relationships are external reinforcers. In conclusion, the high motivation of PJOK teachers is the result of the cooperation of various factors that support each other.

Abstract

Self-efficacy significantly influences the adoption and maintenance of health behaviors; yet, researchers have not adequately examined its effects on physical fitness and quality of life among physical education students. This correlational study examined the relationship between exercise self-efficacy, cardiorespiratory endurance, and life satisfaction among young physical education students (N=86, ages 18-25) at Muhammadiyah University of East Kalimantan. Participants completed the WHOQOL-BREF quality of life questionnaire, the Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Multistage Fitness Test for vo2max evaluation. Self-efficacy exhibited significant positive correlations with cardiorespiratory fitness (r=0.612, p<0.001). The quality of existence had a significant link with self-efficacy (r=0.578, p<0.001). Regression analysis revealed that self-efficacy accounted for 37.5% of the variance in cardiorespiratory fitness and 33.4% of quality of life ratings. Self-efficacy exhibited a stronger correlation with the physical and psychological dimensions of quality of life (r=0.593 and r=0.602). It exhibited a tenuous affiliation within environmental and social dimensions. These findings underscore the importance of self-efficacy enhancement measures in physical education curriculum to enhance physical fitness and quality of life among university students, particularly as they acquire lifelong health practices during this crucial developmental phase.

Abstract

Technological advances such as wearables, biomechanical analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) offer promising solutions in sports injury prevention. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of these technologies in reducing injury risk and improving athlete health. This study aims to assess the role of wearables, biomechanical analysis and AI in sports injury prevention, focusing on injury risk prediction, real-time monitoring and rehabilitation. The method used was a systematic literature review by analyzing data from peer-reviewed scientific articles, conference papers, and reports published in the last decade. The focus of this review was wearable technology, biomechanical systems, and AI applications. Data searches were conducted using related keywords, and data analysis was performed qualitatively by categorizing studies based on technology type and injury prevention goals. The results showed that wearable devices such as accelerometers and heart rate monitors can reduce micro-injuries by providing real-time physiological and biomechanical data. AI systems integrated with wearables improve the accuracy of injury risk prediction. However, the effectiveness of this technology is still limited in preventing severe injuries such as ligament tears and fractures.
