Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership model of the Apostle Paul and its relevance for contemporary leadership amid accelerating transformations across social, political, economic, and technological domains. The current leadership crisis—characterized by moral decline, corruption, and the misuse of authority—underscores the urgent need for a renewed leadership paradigm grounded in spiritual and moral integrity. Within this context, Paul is widely regarded as an archetype of transformative leadership who integrates vision, spirituality, and adaptability in his cross-cultural missionary work. Employing a descriptive qualitative method through a library research approach, this study examines primary and secondary sources, including the Scriptures, theological literature, and scholarly works on Christian leadership. The analysis demonstrates that Paul’s leadership is characterized by five core principles: serving as a divine calling, involving co-workers, nurturing spiritual maturity, delegating ministry according to gifts, and releasing responsibility without abandoning guidance. These principles emphasize collaboration, character formation, and ongoing mentorship, indicating their applicability across contemporary ecclesial and secular leadership contexts. Consequently, Paul’s leadership exemplifies a transformative model rooted in love, integrity, and spiritual responsibility, offering contemporary leaders a paradigm of servant leadership grounded in humility, faithfulness, and moral conviction.

Abstract

This article aims to examine teacher professionalism as a key factor influencing the quality of learning in Indonesian schools through a targeted literature review spanning 2018 to 2025. The study synthesizes evidence from national and international publications to map trends in policy reforms, training initiatives, certification systems, and learning outcomes. The review highlights four important dimensions of professionalism: pedagogical competence, professional growth, social competence, and personal integrity. These dimensions shape teachers' teaching effectiveness and contribute to student engagement and academic achievement. Findings indicate that policy reforms serve as the most dominant driver for professional improvement, while digital literacy training and development programs strengthen teachers' capacity to respond to contemporary learning demands. Structural barriers such as unequal access to professional development opportunities and limited digital infrastructure remain persistent issues in some regions. This study proposes strategic directions for policies, including mentoring systems, professional learning communities, and technology-enabled development, to foster continuous professional growth and improve the quality of learning across educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Holy Spirit in the formation and guidance of the faith of young Catholics amidst the challenges and dynamics of the digital era. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library study method. The research data are secondary data sourced from the Holy Bible, official documents of the Catholic Church such as Lumen Gentium, Gaudium et Spes, Christus Vivit, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, as well as various books and scientific journal articles relevant to pneumatology, youth spirituality, and digital pastoral care. The data are analyzed using content analysis techniques combined with theological-pastoral reflection to interpret theological meaning and its implications in the context of the lives of today's youth. The results of the study indicate that the Holy Spirit has a central and transformative role in renewing ways of thinking, forming Christian character, and affirming the identity of young people as children of God amidst the pressures of digital culture. Through the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit, young people are empowered to exercise spiritual discernment, use digital media wisely, and actively engage as missionary subjects in the proclamation of the faith, so that the digital space can become a means of authentic and contextual faith growth.

Abstract

Pastoral ministry requires Catholic priests to be intensively involved in accompanying the faithful, making moral decisions, and managing various administrative responsibilities. These demands often increase the risk of emotional exhaustion, which is a core component of burnout and negatively affects both the quality of ministry and priests’ psychological well-being. This study aims to examine the relationship between resilience and emotional exhaustion among Catholic priests in the Archdiocese of Merauke. Employing a quantitative approach with a survey design, data were collected online using Google Forms. A convenience sampling technique was applied, resulting in the participation of 58 respondents. The data were processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27. The results indicate that resilience has a significant negative relationship with emotional exhaustion, meaning that higher levels of resilience are associated with lower levels of emotional exhaustion among priests. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening psychological resilience as a preventive strategy against burnout in pastoral ministry. Practical implications include the need for accompaniment programs, resilience training, and systemic support from the diocese to sustain priests’ ministry and enhance their holistic well-being.

Abstract

The This study aims to describe the discourse of integral ecology and the praxis of ecological conversion within families at Saint Joseph Parish, Lawe Desky, in light of the Encyclical Laudato Si’. Ecological crises in agrarian regions are often triggered by the tension between economic necessity and environmental preservation, requiring a theological-practical review at the grassroots level. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were gathered through observation and in-depth interviews with seven lay families, the Parish Pastoral Council (DPPH), and the Parish Priest. The results reveal a “cognitive anomaly”, where the faithful are unfamiliar with the technical terminology of Laudato Si’, yet substantially embody the values of stewardship through an existential awareness of human dependence on nature. The praxis of ecological conversion manifests in microscopic actions within the Ecclesia Domestica, such as disciplined waste management and intergenerational ecological education. Nevertheless, structural hurdles persist, particularly the economic dependence on the corn farming sector, which poses risks of forest degradation. This research concludes that sustainable ecological conversion in Lawe Desky requires an integration of spiritual faith and the transformation of agricultural techniques aligned with nature.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning achievement of students in Papua caused by the gap between the national education approach and the local socio-cultural context. Therefore, this study aims to: identify the implementation of transpositional mentoring in Catholic schools in Papua; analyze the factors that support and hinder its implementation; and test the effect of transpositional mentoring on improving student learning achievement. This study uses a mixed methods approach, with a descriptive qualitative and quasi-experimental quantitative design. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and focus group discussions in five Catholic schools in South Papua, Highland Papua, and Central Papua with a total of 85 informants. Quantitative data were obtained through a Nonequivalent Control Group design on 150 students at the Santo Mikhael Catholic Junior High School in Merauke who were divided into experimental and control groups. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model and descriptive and inferential statistical tests. The results of the study indicate that transpositional mentoring has been implemented practically through contextualization of teaching materials, the use of local language and culture, relational mentoring, experiential learning, critical reflection, and curriculum adaptation. Key supporting factors include teachers' pedagogical commitment, cultural proximity, relational culture, institutional support, and community involvement, while inhibiting factors include limited conceptual understanding, administrative pressure, limited resources, cultural distance, and low learning motivation. Quantitatively, transpositional mentoring has been shown to significantly improve learning achievement. Thus, transpositional mentoring is an effective, contextual, and transformative learning strategy for improving student achievement in Papua. This approach needs to be systematically integrated into education policies and teacher professional development.

Abstract

This study explores the Influence of Economic Conditions on the Participation of Catholic Youth (OMK) in Liturgical Pastoral Activities in the St. Cornelius Community of the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Parish, Merauke. This study departs from the phenomenon of Catholic Youth not being actively involved in liturgical pastoral activities in the community. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the involvement of OMK in liturgical pastoral activities such as being a psalmist, lector, altar server. The method used is descriptive quantitative with data collection through observation, distributing questionnaires, and documentation. Research information includes the head of the community and OMK children in the St. Cornelius community. The results of the study show that many OMK are actively involved in liturgical activities in the St. Cornelius community. One of the contributing factors is the family's economic condition that does not support OMK in liturgical activities, because there are OMK who help the family in meeting daily living needs.
