Abstract

This research is motivated by an ecological crisis that cannot be separated from the spiritual crisis of mankind. This research is constructive and offers a way of loving nature based on the perspective of Augustine from Hippo. The method used is content analysis, which requires the author to analyze primary and secondary writings related to the topic and then draw important points, process and present them in the form of descriptions. This research shows that Augustine's perspective on loving nature is significant for the current ecological crisis because Augustine does not agree with the utilitarian point of view in looking at nature and even suggests throwing it away because it is very detrimental to nature. In addition, renewal of the senses, mind, and heart, and contemplating God in nature and nature in God becomes a necessary thing and a way that can be used in an effort to love nature. These three things can be a positive contribution to efforts to find ways to love nature which are currently critical.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the paradigm of many people's lives, namely the emergence of human attitudes that are aware of their limitations and begin to build a spiritually disciplined life. Humans are starting to enter a new normal era, in this era, it is easier for humans to get various information related to spiritual disciplines from various religious concepts. The thoughts of John Wesly about spiritual discipline can be a model to help the lives of Christians in carrying out spiritual discipline. This study applies a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach in the background specifically to analyze reality and conduct a literature study approach for the theoretical basis. The results of this study show that the principles of John Wesly's spiritual discipline are discipline in prayer, digging the Bible, following the sacraments, and fasting as well as showing discipline in social life. Thus, the novelty of this research is the actualization of the implementation of spiritual discipline in the context of the new normal era.

Abstract

Theological discussions related to the post-pandemic condition of the church have attracted significant attention. Generally speaking, those discussions focus on the mode of worship in the future: whether to remain online, back offline or adopt the hybrid mode of worship. In this article, the authors argue that the mode of worship in the post-pandemic condition should not be seen as operative per se, but it should be based on a deep reflection of the church on what is the essence of worship and how could the church reflect it to the congregations in the church and the world outside the church. To reflect the Gospel appropriately, the church should seek to revitalize worship in the post-pandemic condition. This article suggests that such a revitalization could be achieved through constructing a thanksgiving liturgy. The post-pandemic condition could be seen as a suitable opportunity for the church to reflect its joy and gratitude for the grace of God that renews and heals the creation.

Generation Z has a low spiritual index of 3.50 compared to the national index of 3.79. It emphasizes the church doing faith deepening and mentoring because they feel alien to spirituality and begin leaving the church. The cause of the low index lies in private practice, namely personal and private loyalty. The index of devotional time and Bible meditation is only 3.0, and compassion-based discipleship evangelism for the lost is very low at 2.63. Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in the presence of various theological reflections. One of the topics discussed was about God's providence. This paper will present a theological reflection based on the book of Esther on God's providence. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive exegesis approach by focusing on the structure of the book of Esther. This study found that although there is no name "God" in the book of Esther, God still shows His providence. The absence of the name Allah shows that human actions are not in a different domain. God chose Esther, a woman who came from an “ordinary” background. So that during the pandemic, we are required to actively participate in caring for others as a form of God's care.

Abstract

Transformational leadership is a theory of leadership that has gained profound interest among scholars for decades. Compared to transactional leadership that emphasizes reward and punishment, transformational leadership style has focused more on the inner development of the followers. A leader with transformational leadership style would seek to stimulate his or her followers intellectually, so the transformation of the organization would start with the change of perception of the people. This article argues further that a Christian perspective could enrich the prominent theory of transformational leadership by placing Christ as the center of inspiration and God’s transformative power as the primary motivation to contribute toward the broader society. A Christian transformational leadership emphasizes God as the source of transformation and perceive the ability of the Christian leader to transforms the people as a horizontal expression of God’s transformative power experienced by the Christian leader. In other words, inner transformation leads toward the transformation of the world outside.

Abstract

Education is a legacy of parents that needs to be accepted by everyone since childhood to live a successful and successful life in the future. The parties who play an important role as teachers or educators first and foremost for children are parents, especially mothers. However, the problem is that some mothers do not carry out these responsibilities so that their children become victims. This is what underlies the purpose of this study to explain one of the parenting styles of a mother named Jochebed who succeeded in becoming a teacher for Harun, Miriam, and Musa so that today's mothers can imitate him. The method used in this research is qualitatively based on a literature study. The results showed that Jochebed instilled faith and wisdom in them from an early age. This faith and wisdom were obtained by Jochebed from God because of his God-fearing attitude so that all his children, especially Moses, could become individuals of faith and wisdom in leading their people for the exodus from Egypt

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the assimilation of Jesus Christ according to Philippians 2: 6-8. The research method used is content analysis. The results showed that the assimilation of Jesus Christ showed that Jesus did not exercise His rights as God to defend His humanity. Based on content analysis research, it was found that the assimilation of Jesus Christ was different from humans (prisoner assimilation). Human rights are strongly fought for by the state or government, there is even a law that regulates to protect human rights while the rights of Jesus Christ as a human being are not protected by the state or government. In researching content analysis on the text of Philippians 2: 6-8, Biblical Theology views the assimilation of Jesus Christ divided into 5 components, namely: a) Jesus did not hold fast to His rights as God (2:6), b) Jesus put aside the glory of God. Him (2:7a), c) Jesus took on the nature of a human servant (2:7b), d) Jesus humbled Himself (2:8a), e) Jesus became obedient and died on the cross (2:8b).

Abstract

The small group method is very effective as a means of growing faith that leads to maturity of believers in Christ to become more like Christ. Many parachurch ministries and major churches have done it and have proven to be very effective. However, recently, many churches in urban areas have not given sufficient attention and have not considered small group discipleship as an effective strategy in cultivating church members. Even though Jesus has passed down discipleship through small groups which is very effective for Christianity to this day so that the church has a coaching pattern for every believer to grow his faith towards maturity, namely towards becoming more like Christ. For this reason, this research was carried out using library research methods from various book texts and research journals on small group discipleship. The results of this study indicate that believers and churches must make small group discipleship a strategy in faith education because it has been proven effective since the time of Jesus.
