Abstract

The research uses natural palm frond fibre as a matrix in making bio composite and polyester resin as a filler. Making the bio composite is compressed using a hotpress machine at a temperature of 70°C for 20 minutes with a pressure of 30 kg/m2. Fiber lengths (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10) cm. Parameters include physical properties testing (density, porosity, and water absorption), mechanical properties testing (compressive, tensile, and impact strength), and SEM. The test results for the optimum physical properties are 75%:25% with a palm frond fibre length of 10 cm, a density of 0.793 gr/cm3, a porosity of 0.134%, a water absorption capacity of 0.169% and a compressive strength value of 19.234 MPa, tensile strength of 725.95 MPa, impact 1.1262 J/mm2. SEM results show that bio composite meets the "Medium Board" criteria based on JIS A 5905:2003 and can be used as an alternative material to replace wood.

Abstract

The strength of a sandwich composite structure is influenced by the mechanical properties of the skin and core, the thickness of the skin and core, and the strength of the bond between the skin and core. Balsa wood is a suitable core material for sandwich composite applications due to its high strength-to-weight ratio. Another advantage of balsa wood is that it is a widely available and relatively inexpensive material. In this study, sandwich composites with glass fiber skin and balsa wood core were made using the hand lay-up method, using epoxy resin. Variations in the direction of woven fibers (45o/45o) and straight (0o/90o) and variations in the weight of the weave 200 GSM, 400 GSM, and 600 GSM were tested to determine the mechanical bonding. Mechanical bonding testing was carried out using the three-point bending test method (three-point bending) and impact testing. The results showed that the orientation of the fibers affects the flexural stress and impact of the sandwich composite. Straight fiber orientation has higher stress and impact values than diagonal orientation. The highest stress value was at 400 GSM straight fiber orientation variation with a flexural stress value of 149.53MPa and had the highest impact value of 0.052 Joule/mm

Abstract

Efficient visitor management is a crucial aspect of clinic operations. However, most clinics still rely on manual methods for recording visitors, which are prone to errors and inefficiencies. This research was conducted at an ideal clinic, As'adiyah Clinic, located in the Situbondo regency, Banyuputih district. In this clinic, when visitors wish to visit a sick individual, they are required to manually input visitor data, presenting a problem especially when the clinic is overflowing with people, creating lines. To address this issue, we developed a prototype of an automatic visitor counter based on Arduino Uno and PIR sensor for As'adiyah Clinic in Situbondo. Developing a precise and effective monitoring system to count clinic visitors automatically is the goal of this research project.

Abstract

This research aims to design an automatic wireless charging station using the magnetic coupling resonance method. This method was chosen because of its ability to transfer energy efficiently over a certain distance without requiring a physical connection. This design involves main components such as transmitter and receiver coils, as well as supporting electronic circuits which function to regulate the resonant frequency for maximum energy transfer. This charging station prototype was tested to charge electronic devices such as smartphones. Test results show that this system is capable of transferring power with high efficiency over a distance of up to 20 cm, with a power transfer efficiency reaching 50%. System security is also considered by implementing protection against overheating and foreign object detection. Our results show that automated wireless charging stations can be a practical and efficient solution for everyday electronic device charging needs. Further development is recommended to increase the range and efficiency of power transfer as well as integration with various types of electronic devices

Abstract

The article explores the feasibility and economic viability of installing a solar power generation system at the rear parking area of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN). Utilizing PVSyst simulation, the study demonstrates that the proposed system can generate 224 MWh of electricity annually, meeting 20% of the energy needs for nearby buildings A and D. Despite requiring an initial investment of Rp. 781,883,953.26, the system proves financially sound with an NPV of Rp. 4,380,435,791 and an IRR of 34.28%. Moreover, the installation significantly reduces carbon emissions by 2775.513 tons. This research underscores the practicality and environmental benefits of adopting solar energy in university campuses.

Abstract

Plastic garbage is a pressing ecological concern, with worldwide production reaching millions of tons annually, causing detrimental effects on both land and water. Recycling plastic garbage is an optimal solution. The objective of this study is to develop a plastic and fabric chopping machine that operates like a shredder. Experimental techniques will be employed to alter the current shredding machine, making it more streamlined and tailored to the requirements of the Ringas Trengginas Waste House. The test materials consist of PET, HDPE, and fabric waste. Data was gathered via observation and literature review, and then analyzed using machine manufacturing planning and waste disposal outcomes. This machine has the ability to shred 100 grams of plastic that is 0.3 mm thick in just 27 seconds, resulting in a shredding rate of 13.3 kg per hour. Similarly, it can shred plastic that is 0.5 mm thick in 30 seconds, resulting in a shredding rate of 12 kilogram per hour. Additionally, it can shred fabric that is 0.2 mm thick in 45 seconds, resulting in a shredding rate of 8 kg per hour. The mean engine capacity is 10.13 kg/hour.

Abstract

Vinase merupakan limbah cair dari industri bioetanol. Vinase diketahui dapat menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan sekaligus berpotensi dijadikan sebagai material pemupukan dan irigasi, terutama di perkebunan tebu. Penelitian ini merupakan studi literatur yang bertujuan untuk membahas mengenai dampak aplikasi vinase terhadap lingkungan dan pertumbuhan tebu. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa vinase dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk karena mengandung berbagai unsur hara terutama kalium (K), bahkan dosis tertentu vinase dapat mensubstitusi pupuk anorganik pada budidaya tebu. Beberapa studi menunjukkan korelasi positif antara vinase dengan pertumbuhan dan hasil tebu. Namun, aplikasi vinase dalam bentuk vinase mentah (VM) dapat berdampak negatif jika dilakukan dalam jangka panjang, antara lain degradasi tanah, pencemaran badan air, hingga kematian tebu. Berbagai dampak negatif VM ini dapat diminimalkan melalui pengaturan jumlah dan konsentrasi VM atau pengolahan VM tersebut, baik secara anaerobik, aerobik, maupun biologis. Pengolahan VM dapat mengurangi BOD, COD, serta substansi kimia yang berbahaya sehingga tidak menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan yang serius.

Abstract

Perumda Giri Tirta is a BUMD company owned by the Gresik Regency Government which is engaged in drinking water management services. Perumda Giri Tirta requires alum material to produce with orders 15 times a year with a total usage of 1,588,215 kg at a cost incurred by the company of Rp. 22,182,299. When compared with 2 inventory control methods, namely Economic Order Quantity and Just In Time, a more efficient calculation will be produced. The results of calculations with the EOQ method the frequency of ordering is 7 times at a cost of Rp. 17,352,969 or 88% more efficient than the cost according to Perumda Giri Tirta's policy. Meanwhile, with the JIT method, orders were made 3 times at a cost of Rp. 6,573,094 or 95% less than the cost according to Perumda Giri Tirta's policy.

Abstract

As one of the operational units of PT PLN (Persero) operated in the distribution and customer service processes, the reliability of the distribution network is a critical concern for PT X. This study conducts a three-stage assessment of the risks associated with disturbances in the 20 kV medium voltage cable network at PT X. In the first stage, a bow-tie diagram comprising 10 threats, 4 consequences, and 18 risk control activities, is developed. In the second stage, the risk level is determined, beginning with assessing likelihood, impact level, and risk control effectiveness. By mapping these results on the risk matrix, it was concluded that the risk level was in the “High” category. In the final stage, the effectiveness of risk controls is ranked to determine the priority for improving risk control activities. 7 activities are identified as requiring immediate attention due to their current ineffective implementation.

Abstract

PLN Inc. implements a postpaid service that has resulted in many customer receivables issues. Customer receivables disrupt PLN Inc.'s cash flow, requiring the government to inject funds from the state budget. If the state budget experiences a deficit, it can increase the national debt. National debt impacts the achievement of SDG goals, namely sustainable economic growth (SDG 8), reducing inequalities (SDG 10), and financing infrastructure that supports development (SDG 9). The largest receivables occur on the island of Java, where many companies have high electricity consumption, while outside Java, electricity consumption is lower due to the scarcity of companies. This indicates a spatial influence on the size of PLN Inc.'s customer receivables, so this research was conducted using the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) method. The study found that the best weighting was fixed Gaussian with an R² value of 96.94%, which is better than the global regression value of 44.34%.
