Abstract

Coal is a sedimentary rock whose main ingredient consists of carbon resulting from the formation of plant remains that have experienced heat and geological pressure for millions of years. Coal mining activities cause air pollution and are a negative externality that has an impact on health problems in the community. This research was conducted at PT. Pacific Coal Mining uses a qualitative descriptive method, data collection is carried out by direct observation of the impacts arising from coal mining activities. The results of this research arebased on people's habits in terms of washing, bathing and drinking, the majority use river water. Nutritional adequacy and food adequacy are considered sufficient. Furthermore, regarding the type of disease, the majority of respondents (83.33%) admitted that their family members had suffered from illness. The illnesses suffered include 40.00% upper respiratory tract infections/ARI (flu, coughs and colds), 26.67% suffering from malaria/chilling fever, 3.33% suffering from digestive tract diseases (diarrhea, dysentery and vomiting), and 13.33% suffered from other diseases, such as rheumatism, swollen legs and high blood pressure. As for health services, the health service facilities available at the study object are still very limited.

Abstract

Premenstrual syndrome is one of the menstrual disorders that appear 7-10 days before menstruation comes and can disappear during menstruation, but can also continue afterwards. Indonesian women who experience premenstrual syndrome (PMS) are 80-90%. Adolescents aged 18-21 years (44.5%) and 22-25 years (22.5%) experience moderate to severe PMS. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between overweight and stress on the incidence of premenstrual syndrome in undergraduate midwifery education students at Airlangga University. This research used observational analytic study method with cross sectional approach. The population was 283 people with a sample size of 138 people conducted by purposive sampling. The independent variables in this study were overweight and stress, while the dependent variable was the incidence of premenstrual syndrome. The instruments in this study used the SPAF questionnaire, DASS-42, and BMI calculation using body weight and height. The data were analyzed using Spearman correlation with α = 0.05. The results of this study found that 32.6% of female students had overweight and obese BMI, 74% of female students experienced high to moderate stress, and 63% of female students experienced mild premenstrual syndrome. In the Spearman correlation test results, it was found that overweight and the incidence of premenstrual syndrome had a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and the level of stress and the incidence of premenstrual syndrome with a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). There is an association between overweight and stress with the incidence of premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a prevalent degenerative disease in today's society. Indonesia, as one of the countries with the largest population, has experienced a significant increase in the global prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Approximately 20% of the Indonesian population uses insulin with or without oral antidiabetic drugs. It has been found that patient compliance in Indonesia does not meet the recommended glycemic targets. This non-compliance is attributed to patients' lack of knowledge and understanding about insulin and its use in therapy. This study aims to explore the relationship between knowledge and adherence to insulin therapy among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in the outpatient clinic of Budi Kemuliaan Hospital, Batam City. A descriptive correlation method was employed, utilizing a prospective cross-sectional research design. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in a total of 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected through two questionnaires: a knowledge questionnaire and the Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS). Statistical analysis included frequency distribution tests and chi-square tests. The research findings revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and adherence to insulin therapy, with a Chi-Square test yielding a P-Value of 0.029, where P-Value α < 0.05. In conclusion, this study demonstrates a significant correlation between knowledge and adherence to insulin therapy among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. It is recommended that healthcare providers at Budi Kemuliaan Hospital deliver accurate information to patients to enhance their knowledge and understanding of insulin use, as well as the potential complications associated with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Atherosclerosis is closely related to the metabolic syndrome like what occurs to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The recent increase in prevalence due to high calories diet and high carbohydrate, infrequent exercise, and the escalating obesity trend increased insulin resistance. PCOS is linked to many long term health problems, such as cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, and diabetes. How is the potential of atherosclerosis for PCOS model mice induced with testosterone propionate and high fat diet and high fructose? This research is important to conduct in order to determine the potential of atherosclerosis for PCOS through the observation on mice model of PCOS. This research employed Postest Only Control Group Design method. Twenty female Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar mice weighing between 100 and 130 grams, aged 3 months, served as the samples. After observing estrous cycle, 15 mice were randomly chosen to be made PCOS model induced with testosterone propionate 1mg/100 g BW/day intramuscularly combined with high fat diet and high fructose. The treatment was given on day 18, 21, and 24. Afterwards, the mice were sacrificed on day 19, 22, and 25. After 12 hours of fasting the mice, the mice were sacrificed and the coronary arteries attached to the heart were taken to be made histological preparations. Then, the degree of atherosclerosis potential was observed. Statistical analysis used One Way Anova test with significance level of α=0,05. Data analysis was performed using Statistical Product and Servive Solutions (SPSS) program version 24.0 for Windows.

Abstract

Background: Primary amenorrhea is the absence of menarche. After gon-adal dysgenesis, the Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syn-drome is the second most common cause of primary amenorrhea. Herein, we de-scribe how to diagnose and the treatment of MRKH. Case presentation: A 21-year-old lady with complaints of abdominal pain in the lower portion of the navel for the past 4 months that has worsened in the previous week, accompanied by complaints of urinat-ing slowly and feeling agony. The patient claimed to be single, to have never had coitus, and to have never menstruated previously. Physical examination revealed tanned 5 breasts, axillary hair (+), and an ab-dominal lump palpable on the 2nd finger region below the navel with pain. There were 5 tanner pubic hairs, labia major +/+, labia minor +/+, and a hymen bulging (-) in the vagi-nal area. A cystic mass pressing on the anterior region of the rectum, hy-men (+) impression of the vaginal septum, and vaginal introitus (-) are all felt when examined in the anus. Uterine dimensions 10x5x4 cm, hypoechoic mass in the uterine cavity, free fluid (-), cervical canal not evident, vaginal introitus (-), hematocol-pos (-), and abdominal ultrasonography results re-vealed no abnormali-ties. Other tests were not carried out. A laparotomy was conducted to remove the hematometra based on the results of clinical and support-ive investigations. Conclusion: This is a rare occurrence of cervical agenesis, occurring in 1 in 80,000 women. Additional tests are required in this case to con-firm the diagnosis of MRKH. The treatment in this scenario seeks to reduce pain and evacuate blood, so that subsequent treatment to re-store the cervical canal at a more comprehensive health service cen-ter is required.
