Abstract

Indonesia is facing an aging society since the proportion of the elderly was almost 10% of the total population. This situation is reflected by the increasing total number of elderlies, dependency ratio, and life expectancy. Aim: This study aimed to describe the distribution of total score of mental health and activity daily life (ADL) among middle age and elderly in Indonesia. This study used pooled data from Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) wave 4 and wave 5. It was conducted in 2007 and 2014. The sample size of this study consisted of middle age (40 to 59 years old) and elderly (60 years old and up). Results: The findings of this study revealed that from 2007 to 2014, the total score of mental health problems was increasing, and also the total score of activity daily life (ADL). Middle age and elderly in Indonesia had an increased number of depressions, but the total majority of them had a higher ability to do daily activity life (ADL). According to an aging population that faced the Indonesian population, this study can describe the increasing number of depressed but increasing their ability of them to do daily activity life (ADL).

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a reproductive health problem that occurs in adolescents. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea in Indonesia reaches 64.25% in women aged 13-25 years. This condition not only causes physical discomfort, but can also have a significant impact on the quality of life and productivity of sufferers which can affect their quality of life and academic performance. Relaxation therapy of dhikr prayer is a potential non-pharmacological approach in pain management, but its effectiveness in dysmenorrhea still needs further research. This study aims to evaluate the effect of relaxation therapy of dhikr prayer on the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain in D3 Midwifery students in Garut Regency. Pre-experimental design with One Groups Pretest-Posttest Design approach. The sample consisted of 36 selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. One group was measured for dysmenorrhea pain assessment before and after being given dhikr prayer therapy. Measurement of pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and questionnaires before and after the intervention. Results: Data analysis showed a significant decrease in pain intensity before and after zikir prayer relaxation therapy with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Zikir prayer relaxation therapy was proven effective in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain in D3 Midwifery students. These findings indicate the potential for integrating a spiritual approach in dysmenorrhea pain management and open up opportunities for further research on the effectiveness of spiritual-based interventions in midwifery practice.

Abstract

Postoperative pain is a common complication after hemorrhoidectomy, and cold compresses have been used as a non-pharmacological intervention to manage this pain. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effect of cold compress application on pain reduction in post-hemorrhoidectomy patients. The review was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, with searches performed in electronic databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar for articles published in the past ten years. Inclusion criteria encompassed studies comparing cold compresses with other methods or control groups, with pain measurements primarily using the visual analog scale (VAS). Out of 150 initially identified articles, 10 met the inclusion criteria. The findings indicate that cold compress application significantly reduces postoperative pain compared to control groups. Cold compresses are thus a viable intervention for pain management following hemorrhoidectomy, though further research with stronger designs and larger sample sizes is recommended to confirm these results.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding, which means the baby is only given breast milk without any other food or drink for the first six months, contains all the nutrients the baby needs and immune substances that help boost their immune system. This study examines mothers' plans for exclusive breastfeeding and the factors that influence them. This study uses a retrospective cohort design. The research instrument used secondary data. Analysis use Chi Square test. It is known that primigravida and multigravida mothers tend to have plans for exclusive breastfeeding after being provided with 7 days of support. From the statistical test results, a p-value of 0.157 was obtained, concluding that gravida does not have an influence on the mother's plan for exclusive breastfeeding. Mothers without experience and those with experience in exclusive breastfeeding tend to have plans for exclusive breastfeeding after 7 days of support. From the statistical test results, a p-value of 0.570 was obtained, concluding that maternal experience does not influence the mother's plan for exclusive breastfeeding. Mothers with both negative and positive attitudes tend to have plans for exclusive breastfeeding. From the statistical test results, a p-value of 0.031 was obtained, concluding that the mother's attitude has an influence on the mother's plan for exclusive breastfeeding with an RR of 6.333. It is concluded that gravida, maternal experience does not have an influence on the mother's plan for exclusive breastfeeding, whereas the mother's attitude does have an influence on the mother's plan for exclusive breastfeeding.

From planning to the outcomes, the phases of the research process are executed in compliance with the established research flow diagram. There are thirty pregnant women at the Deby Midwifery Clinic that make up the study's sample. A pre-post experimental design was used for the study, with 15 participants receiving juice and another 15 serving as the control group. Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, indicating an acceleration, according to the statistical analysis of the paired t test data in the above table, which shows a significance value (ρ) of 0.000 < (0.05). lessen anemia following beetroot juice use.

Abstract

One of the most important markers of child health and growth is nutritional condition. Malnutrition raises the risk of illness and can disrupt mental and physical development. Due to its high vitamin content, pumpkin is one way to enhance children' nutritional status. Nutritional intervention is crucial. Through a review of the literature, this study seeks to determine how well pumpkin can improve toddlers' nutritional status. This study assessed the impact of pumpkin on toddlers' nutritional status using a literature review and the PRISMA methodology. Google Scholar and ProQuest were searched, yielding 1,699 and 3 articles, respectively. Eight pertinent articles were chosen after selection based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings demonstrated that processed pumpkin products, such pudding and biscuits, improved the weight and nutritional condition of malnourished children. After consuming pumpkin seed pudding, there was a noticeable increase in weight, and pumpkin cookies also had a role. Pumpkin helps malnourished children gain weight and improve their nutritional condition.

Abstract

Premature rupture of membranes (PROM) is an obstetric condition that occurs when the amniotic sac ruptures before 37 weeks of gestation, which can increase maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, thus requiring special attention in postpartum management. This study aims to explore appropriate postpartum care for patients experiencing PROM, with a focus on pain management, monitoring vital signs, and educating about postnatal warning signs. Using an evidence-based literature review method, 25 articles published between 2018 and 2024 were analyzed. The findings indicate that nursing interventions based on the Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) and Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) can improve functional patterns in patients, although there is still a risk of complications such as uterine atony and postpartum hemorrhage. Emotional and psychological support were also identified as essential elements in postpartum care. This study emphasizes the need for a holistic approach in postpartum care to ensure optimal recovery and minimize long-term complications for both mother and baby.
