Ushuluna: Jurnal Ilmu Ushuluddin is a journal published by the Faculty of Ushuluddin Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta. The journal is published twice annually (June and December) and consists of articles on Qur’anic studies and interpretation, hadith and Prophetic tradition, religious studies, and mysticism.

<![CDATA[Artikel ini hendak mempertegas tentang posisi perempuan yang termuat dalam ajaran suatu agama, terutama Islam, yang sampai saat ini perannya sering disubordinasikan oleh kelompok-kelompok yang berdalih bahwa perempuan memang ditakdirkan tersubordinasi. Untuk mempertegas hal itu, pembacaan “hermeneutika negosiatif” seperti yang ditawarkan Khaled Abou El Fadl dijadikan sebagai landasan utamanya. Pendekatan historis dan teologis berguna untuk memperjelas, menilai, dan menganalisis faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan posisi perempuan seringkali dinomorduakan dibanding laki-laki. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ketidakadilan terhadap perempuan, utamanya disebabkan oleh dalih bahwa terdapat konten hadis yang memuat ajaran-ajaran bahwa perempuan tidak lebih hanya sebatas makhluk yang bertugas melayani laki-laki, tidak layak menjadi pemimpin, dan cukup di rumah saja.]]>

<![CDATA[This article aims to put Harald Motzki's isnad-cum-matn analysis theory to the test by looking at a hadith about loving Arabs amid some Muslim Arab cults. The theory used in this hadith study is based on the historical-critical approach (HCA), frequently used by Western scholars to investigate the authenticity of hadith. Harald Motzki's dating method involves simultaneously analyzing the transmission of hadith using the isnād and matan analysis methods. The primary guideline in tracing the hadith's origin is to analyze the transmission lines (isnad) by compiling and comparing variations of the hadith text with each other, determining the common link (cl) and partial common link (pcl) in the various transmission lines, and comparing the variants of the hadith text to determine whether the common link can be called the hadith's first transmitter. In the theoretical reflection on the hadith about loving Arabs, the author discovers that a second-century person named Abu Musallam is the common link and the author of the hadith with five people as partial common links, namely Al-Uqaili, Ali b. Hamsyaz, At-Tabrani, Habib b. Hasan, Faruq Al-Khatabi, and Hasan b. Yahya.]]>

<![CDATA[The Philosophy of Empiricism is a branch of Epistemology whose existence is increasingly being ignored. Even though empiricism has had strong roots since its emergence. Empiricism is also closely related to the culture of inductive thinking in Islam. Empiricism with the theory of Tabula rasa also makes an important contribution to the world of education. Empiricism also has a powerful effect on the development of science, technology and the industrial revolution. Although empiricism as a method of philosophy is not absolutely true, at a certain level, empiricism has significance. This article uses the library research method by operationalizing Kuntowijoyo's theory of the history of thought to capture the development of thought more comprehensively. This study concludes that empiricism is closely related to Islam and modern reasoning, which is all based on empirical things. This standard of empiricism then greatly influences the values used in modern reasoning.]]>

<![CDATA[The author’s main concern in this study is to try to “dissect interpretations” with a scientific approach in Al-Qur’an dan Tafsirnya (Edisi Yang Disempurnakan Tahun 2011) compiled by a team appointed by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. To dissect these scientific approach, the author uses the conceptions of interpretation scholars regarding the interpretation of scientific approach. The interpretation of the scientific approach is a focuses on discussing the verses of the al-Qur’an which contain scientific cues so that the meaning and purpose expressed in them can be understood in detail. This study uses a data source in the form of library data. The type of research viewed from the perspective of implementation in this research is descriptive research. Researchers attempt to describe the object of study studied in depth. The main question to be answered in this study is: how many verses are interpreted in a scientific approach in the Al-Qur’an dan Tafsirnya (Edisi Yang Disempurnakan Tahun 2011) from juz 6 to juz 10?, and what is the background for the drafting team to pay more attention to interpretation scientific in it? The findings of this study indicate that in juz 6 to 10, there are 9 verses that are interpreted using a scientific approach. Interpretation with a scientific approach was carried out by a drafting team appointed by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia because they considered that society needed a new perspective in interpretation, a scientific approach. It is also based on the rapid development of science.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to reveal portray Quranic verses interpreted using the scientific style of interpretation by M. Quraish Shihab in his Tafsir al-Misbah. Its existence has been revealed by Moh. Anwar Syarifuddin and Jauhar Azizy in their 2014 report on "Islamic Relations and Science and Technology in the Indonesian Tafsir Literature", but using only the Madaniyya verses of the five first chapters of the Qur’an. The present writer examined there surahs: al-Nahl (the Bees), al-Naml (the Ants) and al-Ankabut (the Spider), all of which are animal names but categorized as Makkiyah instead. Research question of this piece is what is proven to be the scientific style of interpretation within the interpretation of those three surahs in Tafsir al-Misbāḥ? This is qualitative research along with the descriptive analytical method. The findings strengthen the previous findings which also show a very high level of appreciation indicated by the writer of al-Misbah in interpreting 33 Quranic verses within their scientific color of interpretation, in which it is a lot higher than the previous findings on the Madaniyya verses.]]>

Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah hasil wawancara dengan informan dan literatur-literatur yang relevan dengan penelitian, baik buku, artikel dan lain sebagainya. Adapun objek penelitian ini adalah santriwati Ponpes Assalafiyyah II Sukabumi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konstruksi kesalehan sosial komunitas santri di Ponpes Assalafiyyah II Sukabumi merupakan praktik dan perilaku keberagamaan yang muncul secara rasional dan terstruktur.]]>

<![CDATA[This article aims to reflect on the crisis of spirituality in the recovery period after the Covid-19 pandemic through the philosophical views of George Berkeley. The crisis was getting worse because of Russia's war with Ukraine so that it pushed most people to focus on materialistic dimensions solely for the sake of economic recovery. The problem is, during the recovery period, many people separate material things from spiritual things, so they tend to pursue one or the other. In fact, both material and spiritual are the same thing, namely the quality of spirit. The implication is that the material dimension tends to push a person towards materialism in a recovery situation and ignores the spiritual dimension. This study uses a critical reflection method that aims to contemplate the reality of the recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic and assess it epistemically. The findings from this study are that material aspects or qualities are part of spiritual qualities. In other words, following Berkeley, spiritual quality is the scope of the process when a person perceives both the external world (objective reality) and subjective reality simultaneously. This means that Berkeley's theory of philosophy of perception as a philosophical viewpoint is still relevant for understanding reality in the midst of a spiritual crisis after the global recovery of the Covid-19 pandemic. ]]>

<![CDATA[Establishing from the increasingly major phenomenon of ruqyah therapeutic development. The research described here tries to gain an understanding of Holy Quranic verses in the practice of ruqyah syar'iyyah, as well as how these verses connect to current medical and psychological concepts. Researchers used a thematic interpretation (maudhu'i) approach and library research techniques to analyze the findings in order to get some insight to this issue at hand. This approach was chosen to comprehend the context and significance of Quranic verses used for the practice of ruqyah syar'iyyah. The Holy Quran, Hadith, books, manuscripts, writings, and works from multiple genres of literature that are related to the issue at hand were used as research data sources. The findings of this research indicate that there's a significant connection between each verse of the Al-Qur'an and the medical approach of ruqyah syar'iyyah. It is expected the following research conducted will help the scholars who have an interest in this issue face a more thorough understanding of how the verses of the Quran are applied in the practice of ruqyah syar'iyyah.]]>

<![CDATA[ Penelitian ini membahas tentang istathā’a atau mampu QS. Ali Imran: 97 menurut Wahbah al-Zuhaili yang merupakan salah satu syarat untuk bisa menunaikan haji.Lebih jauh lagi ada dua aspek yang mendasari kata istathā’a dalm konteks haji,yaitu: aspek sosial dan aspek ekonomi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan. yang mengungkap makna istathā’a QS. Ali Imran: 97 dalam pandangan Wahbah al-Zuhaili menurut analisis kajian tafsir tematik. Selain itu, juga menjawab semua keresahaan terkait representasi makna istathā’a yang sesungguhnya dalam al-Qur’an. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini mengatakan akanistathā’a yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan fisik, yaitu: sehat secara jasmani dan ruhani, biaya yang cukup selama perjalanan menuju tanah suci sampai dia kembali, keluarga yang ditinggalkan selama melakansanakan rangkaian haji, kendaraan yang digunakan selama perjalanan dan rasa aman dari segala mara bahaya serta adanya mahram bagi perempuan. Istaṭhā’a diukur dari keimanannya, jika seseorang yang meyakini akan kewajiban ibadah haji bagi yang mampu maka ia tidak dihukumi kafir, namun bagi ia yang mengingkarinya maka ia dikatakan kafir. Dan siapa yang melaksanakannya maka ia merupakan hamba muthi’ atau ta’at namun jika tidak melaksanakannya maka ia adalah hamba yang telah melakukan kema’siatan kepada Allah Swt.]]>

<![CDATA[Among the factors of increasing depression rates in Indonesia is motivated by a sense of hopelessness or loss of hope in someone. This is one of the reasons for raising the theme in this thematic study. Research that aims to reveal more deeply the meaning of al-raja' in the Qur'an so that it is expected to be applied in everyday life, and make the concept of al-raja' as a motivation in facing every phase of life that will be lived. This study uses thematic method of interpretation (mauḍū’i) by collecting verses about al-raja' in the Qur'an along with data related to the study of the meaning of al-raja'. There are 7 concepts of al-raja' in the Qur'an that are more applicable in contrast to previous studies that tend to be overshadowed by Sufism studies, namely: hope for Allah Swt., prayer, tawakkal, hope for forgiveness, hope for just retribution, hope for obedience, and hope for guidance. This concept is expected to be applied easily in every situation, so that it becomes a source of strength, peace, and comfort for individuals in facing life's challenges and tests.]]>
