Abstract

This research aims to examine the concept of child-friendly schools in Indonesia resulting from previous research. We also offer a child-friendly school idea with an Indonesian perspective. The study uses a systematic literature review approach. There are several categories of articles that we review, including discussing child-friendly schools, multicultural learning, and Indonesian insights. We searched using the publish or perish application and determined articles published in the last five years. We found that the concept of child-friendly schools has yet to be able to fulfil children's rights, such as security and protection, which can have an impact on children's learning motivation. This is based on KPAI data, which shows that there are still many cases of bullying reported in schools. We propose the concept of a child-friendly school with an Indonesian perspective so that children grow and develop into true entities of Indonesian society, namely polite and tolerant. Child-friendly schools with an Indonesian viewpoint can be used as an alternative solution to create children's potential in a better direction. However, this concept needs to be tested more intensively so that an implementation and evaluation scheme can be drawn.

Abstract

This study investigated the perception of teachers on the need for effective integration of Africa indigenous knowledge into Nigeria’s primary school education. The sample consisted of 400 teachers, 200 each from private primary schools and 200 from public primary schools, randomly selected from public and private primary schools in Lagos state. The instrument was a questionnaire validated by test retest method. The research design was the descriptive survey. Results showed that pupils are mostly introduced to folktales and English language used more than the native language (Ibo or Yoruba) in passing on information. Simple percentage and Chi-square were used to analyse perception of private primary school teachers and public primary school teachers on the need for effective integration of African Indigenous Knowledge (AIK) into primary school education. It was found that there was no significant difference in the perception of private primary school teachers and public primary school teachers on the need for effective integration of African Indigenous Knowledge into primary school formal education in Nigeria on the basis of school status. The results showed that respondents were unanimous in indicating that African Indigenous Knowledge be effectively integrated into formal primary school education system. The findings showed that most respondents agree to the statement that effective integration of African Indigenous Knowledge will promote our cultural heritage and National development in Nigeria. Major barriers or obstacles to effective integration were identified and suggestions on how to facilitate the effective integration of African Indigenous Knowledge into primary school education system were given.

Abstract

This paper recognises that recent advances in digital technologies have provided unprecedented opportunities for effective teaching and research in various fields of human endeavour. While majority of scholars in different tertiary institutions, most especially in the developed countries have turned increasingly to using and exploring information technologies as scholarly tools for teaching and research, they are yet to be fully employed by many Nigerian academics. Adequate knowledge of some fundamental skills provided by digital technology such as the development of tools for critical analysis and the ability to synthesise materials and bring together different methodologies to solve complex problems are significant in competing favourably in the 21st century world of scholarship. It is on this premise that this paper argues that rather than seeing digital technologies as representation for an abandonment of what the discipline of history is meant to stand for as posited by the traditionalists, it is a justification for saving the discipline from the insularities of its traditionalism. In other words, the adoption of digital technology in history teaching and research is not a replacement or rejection of traditional historical inquiry, but an extension of the traditional scope of history. Thus, the main thrust of this paper is the re-conceptualisation of historical scholarship in the age of information technology. The paper identifies inadequate infrastructure, limited internet access, unreliable power supply, high cost of digital devices and software among others as major challenges militating against the effective integration of digital technology into teaching and research in most Nigerian tertiary institutions. It concludes that the exploration of the spaces of engagement through interdisciplinary, collaborative and technological research helps to invigorate and accelerate the transformation of historical scholarship and the production of knowledge in history in the 21st century. The methodology adopted in this paper is historical, thematic and analytical, utilising materials from primary and secondary sources.

This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of Pancasila Education for grade IV students of SD Negeri Ngadirejo after the implementation of the Discovery Learning Model Assisted by Animation Videos is significantly complete. The background of this research is based on the low learning outcomes of students due to the lack of active involvement of students in learning and learning methods that are still monotonous and teacher-centered. The research method used is quantitative with One Group Pre-test and Post-test design. Samples were taken from one class, namely in grade IV with a total of 23 students. The research instrument is in the form of a multiple-choice test that has been tested for validity and reliability. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it was obtained that the average pre-test score was 49.4 and there were 19 students who did not achieve the KKTP score or < 70 so that it was declared incomplete and only 4 students completed. Meanwhile, after receiving treatment, the results of the posttest were obtained with an average score of 84.9, there were 20 students who achieved completeness and reached a score of 70 and 3 students did not complete. Thus, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning Model Assisted by animated videos is effective in improving the learning outcomes of Pancasila Education for grade IV students. Abstract

Education and science play a fundamental role in the development of societies. Education enables individuals to acquire knowledge and skills, thereby supporting social progress and cultural development. Throughout history, the concept of education has changed according to the needs of societies and has been implemented in different forms in every period. In Azerbaijan, the tradition of education dates back to ancient times, where writing, mathematics, and religious education developed in states such as Manna, Atropatena, and Caucasian Albania. During the Middle Ages, under the influence of Islamic culture, madrasas became widespread, scientists were trained, and educational institutions were established in many cities. In the IX century, during the Russian Empire period, the education system changed and Russian-language schools became widespread. During the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918–1920), national education policies were developed and the Azerbaijani language was declared the official state language. In the Soviet period, education became ideologically oriented, literacy rates increased, and higher education institutions expanded. After independence, the education system was modernized, preserving national values while aligning with European standards. Today, Azerbaijan’s education system is democratic, secular, and multicultural. Digitalization, technology, and human capital have become key elements shaping modern education and its development.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines post-foundational shifts in curriculum theory through 13 studies appraised using PRISMA and MMAT 2018. The findings identify four themes: the crisis of foundational curriculum theory; the rise of plural epistemologies; the mediation of knowledge construction through language, power, culture, and digitality; and a synthesised model of curriculum transformation. The study’s novelty lies in integrating decolonial, relational, linguistic, and adaptive debates into one post-foundational framework and proposing a four-movement model that offers a concise conceptual vocabulary for interpreting contemporary curriculum transformation across diverse educational contexts.
