Abstract

The Seren Taun tradition, organised by the Sunda Wiwitan indigenous community in Cigugur Village, is one of the traditions that has managed to survive amidst social change. Since the advent of digital technology, the way in which the younger generation perceives tradition has shifted, from passive recipients to active agents in interpreting and representing cultural values. The aim of this study is to examine how the younger generation interprets the values of the Seren Taun tradition and how digital technology influences this process of meaning-making. The approach used is qualitative, employing a scoping review method to map and synthesise relevant research findings. Findings were obtained from the Scopus and Publish or Perish databases, comprising a total of 25 national and international articles analysed using thematic analysis techniques. The research results reveal that the younger generation actively interprets and represents traditional values through digital media, which simultaneously opens up space for the expansion of meaning and the risk of simplifying sacred values. The sustainability of traditions no longer depends solely on the preservation of cultural practices, but on the ability of the younger generation to negotiate and adapt cultural meanings amidst digital dynamics; thus, the integration of cultural practices, education, and digital media becomes a crucial strategy in maintaining the relevance of traditions amidst ever-evolving social change.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the digital ecosystem has introduced new complexities in civil law relationships in Indonesia, particularly regarding liability for damages caused by algorithm-based systems. This study aims to analyze the normative weaknesses of civil liability regulations in Indonesian positive law and to formulate a liability model that is adaptive to the characteristics of AI. This research employs a normative legal method with statutory, conceptual, and comparative approaches. The findings reveal that the fault liability principle under Article 1365 of the Indonesian Civil Code is no longer adequate due to the difficulty of proving fault in autonomous and black box AI systems. The disharmony between the Civil Code, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, and the Personal Data Protection Law further highlights the existence of a legal vacuum. Empirical data indicates a significant increase in data breaches and cybercrime cases over the past 3–5 years, affecting civil rights. This study proposes the “Hybrid Liability AI” model, integrating fault liability and strict liability based on a risk-based approach. The model enables proportional allocation of liability among developers, operators, and users. The application of strict liability to high-risk AI systems ensures effective victim protection, while fault liability maintains fairness within the legal system. This research contributes theoretically to the development of civil liability doctrine and provides practical recommendations for AI regulatory frameworks in Indonesia. Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the nature of crime from individual-based actions into complex and multi-actor systems, posing significant challenges to Indonesian criminal law. This study aims to analyze the normative gap in criminal liability for AI-based crimes, reinterpret the concept of mens rea , and formulate an adaptive liability model through the Hybrid Criminal Liability approach. This research employs normative legal methods with statutory, conceptual, and comparative approaches. The findings reveal that existing legal frameworks, including the Criminal Code, Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to the ITE Law, and Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection, are insufficient to address the autonomous and distributed nature of AI-based crimes. This normative gap leads to legal uncertainty, potential impunity, and inadequate victim protection. This study proposes a Hybrid Criminal Liability model that integrates the responsibilities of developers, operators, and users proportionally based on their roles, while also reinterpreting men's reasons through an expanded notion of fault encompassing both intent and systemic negligence. Comparative analysis with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act indicates a global shift toward risk-based, multi-actor liability frameworks. The contribution of this research lies in offering an adaptive, progressive, and substantively just criminal liability doctrine to address AI-driven crimes in Indonesia. Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe social studies learning strategies based on Project-Based Learning utilizing the school’s surrounding environment to foster students social awareness. This study employed a qualitative case study design at SMPN 1 Wajak, involving the vice principal for curriculum, social studies teachers, the eight grade students from Class VIII G as informants. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The results indicate that the utilization of physical and social environments such as rice fields, markets, and tourist attractions effectively support contextual learning through the preparation, implementation, and follow-up activities. These activities encourage active student engagement and foster a socially responsible character, demonstrated through empathy, cooperation, and concern for the surrounding environment. However, the implementation of this learning still faces challenges, including time constraints, varying levels of student participation, and limited supporting resources. Therefore, social studies instruction based on Project-Based Learning utilizing the surrounding environment of the school can serve as an effective strategy for fostering students’ socially responsible character.

Abstract

The objective of this inquiry is to ascertain how employing comic strips affects eighth-grade students at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu's ability to comprehend recount texts. Although interpretation of written discourse is essential and forms the basis for helping students succeed academically, students frequently encounter impediments in apprehending English discourses, particularly recount texts. The learning process, which is still dominated by conventional methods, is one of the reasons students have difficulty understanding texts. A quasi-experimental framework employing a non-equivalent control group was implemented in this inquiry. The sample was delineated through purposive selection predicated upon predetermined criteria aligned with the investigational requisites, encompassing 68 participants apportioned into two groups: an experimental and a control class. Data acquisition was derived from pre-assessment and post-assessment outcomes in both groups. Utilizing SPSS 27, an independent t-test was administered for analytical purposes. The empirical findings reveal that the significant coefficient (Sig., two-tailed) is 0.009, which is inferior to the threshold of 0.05 (0.009 < 0.05). This substantiates the repudiation of the null hypothesis (H0) and the corroboration of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Consequently, it can be posited that the deployment of comic strips exerts a statistically significant enhancement on the eighth-grade learners at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu in their comprehension of recount texts. The incorporation of comic strips within reading pedagogy functions as an innovative and interactive instructional medium to augment students’ interpretation of written discourse proficiency.
