Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of consumer protection law enforcement against unsafe products circulating in Indonesia. The issue is important because unsafe products—including food, cosmetics, electronics, toys, and goods sold through digital marketplaces—continue to threaten consumer health, safety, and legal certainty despite the existence of consumer protection regulations. The research aims to analyze the legal framework, supervision and enforcement mechanisms, and the main barriers affecting the practical effectiveness of consumer protection law. This study employed a qualitative literature review approach using secondary data derived from legislation, books, journal articles, government reports, and institutional publications. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and analytically by identifying major themes related to product safety, law enforcement, market surveillance, and implementation challenges. The findings show that Indonesia already has a relatively comprehensive legal and institutional framework; however, its enforcement remains only partially effective. Persistent problems include fragmented regulations, limited institutional capacity, weak inter-agency coordination, low business compliance, and consumers’ weak bargaining position, especially in digital markets. Therefore, law enforcement remains more reactive than preventive in protecting consumers from unsafe products.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate agrarian reform policy as an instrument for resolving land tenure conflicts on the former Right to Cultivate (HGU) land of PT Guci Sari in Tegal Regency. This research employs an empirical legal method with a qualitative approach. Research data sources were obtained through primary data in the form of interviews and observations, while secondary data were gathered from other legal sources. The results indicate that Agrarian Reform has served as tangible evidence of an effective conflict resolution instrument through a coordinative mediation mechanism. Based on Law Number 30 of 1999 concerning Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR Law), the two-phase conflict resolution on the former HGU land of PT Guci Sari was carried out through non-litigation channels emphasizing the principle of deliberation (musyawarah). The first phase involved mediation by the National Land Agency (BPN) to unravel the company's historical claims, whose rights had expired since 2016. The second phase was resolved through mediation by the Agrarian Reform Task Force (GTRA) along with cross-sectoral agencies, including the Forest Management Unit (KPH), the Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (Perkim), and the Pemalang Regency Government, to mediate land disputes between tenant farmers from Tegal and Pemalang Regencies. This implementation aligns with the problem-solving strategy theory to achieve a fair agreement. Ultimately, this policy produced concrete results in the form of determining the subjects and objects of asset redistribution, providing legal certainty through the issuance of Land Ownership Certificates (Sertifikat Hak Milik) for the tenant farmers.

Abstract

This article is not explaining how scientifically shamans are able to smooth the way for candidates in winning electoral politics, but rather this article aims to explain how the formation of discourse is built to support the rationality of political shamans so that there are still many who trust and use their services. Using the object of study at the moment of the election of the village head (pilkades) in Pangro Village in Central Java, the Foucauldian analysis attempts to examine the foundation of knowledge why shamans can have the role of "political consultants" in the midst of the current of modernity that relies on logical reasoning in the work of electoral political victory. The results of the study show, based on the genealogy of knowledge tracking, the rapid flow of modernity does not necessarily eliminate shamanism, but this rationality is transformed so that mystical reasoning can still exist following modern reasoning today. Likewise, the archaeological search of knowledge, which shows that traces of knowledge supporting the existence of shamans are still scattered quite dominant in the culture of the community so that their existence does not disappear, but rather has a strong place in people's beliefs, especially for the village community and candidates in the elections. This study concludes that mystical rationality is supported by citizen knowledge, which is maintained continuously in the local culture.

Abstract

This research aims to analyses the visual meanings in the film poster Women from Rote Island by Jeremias Nyangoen using Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis. As a medium of visual communication, the film poster is understood not only as a promotional tool but also as a representation of the social experiences of women survivors of violence. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with the official theatrical poster of Women from Rote Island as the main object of analysis. The analysis is conducted at three levels of meaning namely denotation, connotation and myth focusing on visual and verbal elements such as the chained woman lying on the floor, the dominance of dark colours, the typography, the row of festival awards and the screening information. The findings show that the poster constructs a powerful image of women’s bodies as bound by violence, trauma and unequal power relations, while simultaneously offering a critique of patriarchal culture and the normalization of sexual violence. The poster also positions the voices of women from peripheral regions as legitimate and important narratives within the public sphere through the medium of film, thereby contributing to the enrichment of studies on visual meaning in film posters, particularly in the context of the representation of women and gender-based violence in Indonesia. Keywords: semiotics, roland barthes, film poster, visual meaning, women from rote island.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between father involvement, self-efficacy, and academic motivation among university students, particularly among students experiencing fatherlessness. An explanatory sequential mixed-methods design was employed involving 91 students from the Social Studies Education Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Quantitative data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and PROCESS Macro Model 4 mediation analysis, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews and open-ended questionnaire responses. The findings showed that father involvement had a significant positive effect on academic motivation, while self-efficacy also positively predicted academic motivation. However, self-efficacy did not significantly mediate the relationship between father involvement and academic motivation. Qualitative findings revealed that fatherless students tended to experience emotional vulnerability, loneliness, and insecurity, but many developed resilience, forced independence, and survival-oriented motivation. In contrast, students with higher father involvement demonstrated greater emotional security, confidence, and academic persistence due to paternal emotional support and role modeling. Open-ended responses further indicated that emotional presence, communication, encouragement, and paternal example were perceived as more meaningful than financial support alone. Overall, the study suggests that father involvement serves as an important psychological and motivational resource in students’ academic lives, while academic motivation among fatherless students may emerge from resilience, family responsibility, and self-proof rather than self-efficacy alone.
