Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in shaping students' mutual cooperation (gotong royong) character at MTsN 3 Langkat. The character of mutual cooperation is an essential component in developing students' social attitudes, which can be manifested through learning and habituation within the school environment. This study employs a phenomenological approach, which investigates knowledge derived from consciousness or understands an object or event through conscious experience. Data were gathered through interviews with Islamic Education teachers, supplemented by field observations and documentation. Data analysis involved data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Data source credibility was ensured through triangulation. To guarantee data validity, the study utilized prolonged engagement, persistent observation, negative case analysis, as well as source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that Islamic Education teachers serve as role models, facilitators, and motivators in instilling the values of mutual cooperation. These values are integrated through learning materials, group discussion methods, classroom cleaning activities, and student collaboration in religious assignments. The active role of Islamic Education teachers is highly decisive in shaping students' mutual cooperation character, although synergy among the school, parents, and the social environment remains necessary for optimal character development.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of limited varied learning media in the institution and the less than optimal fine motor skills of children in a group A. This can be seen from writing activities that still require teacher assistance, coloring outside the lines, and cutting not according to the pattern. The purpose of this study is to develop and test the effectiveness or level of feasibility of Busy Board media in improving children’s fine motor skills. The research method uses the ADDIE model approach which consists of five stages including Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects were 14 children in group A with data collection techniques through pre-test (before) and post-test (after) while data analysis used quantitative descriptive research techniques. Based on the trials that have been conducted, Busy Board media is effective in improving aspects of child development, especially in fine motor aspects. This can be seen in the post-test results showing high scores after the pre-test on the five Busy Board activities. Busy Board media not only improves fine motor skills but also multi-aspects. Matching geometric shapes and counting buttons on the train improved children’s cognitive abilities with a score of 3,8. The highest score was achieved in singing with a microphone with a score of 3,9, which improved language and art skills. Researchers encountered obstacles in the field. Such as tying shoelaces due to daily habits. Another obstacle was the name of the activity, which was lost due to the use of glue that did not stick well, so researchers began to revise the shortcomings of the media. Busy Board successfully overcomes the limitations of educational play tools and can improve children’s fine motor skills.

Abstract

Pura Desa Bengkala is one of the significant cultural heritage sites in Bali that embodies the historical continuity of Balinese Hindu civilization and local traditions. This study aims to examine the historical development of Pura Desa Bengkala, analyze its architectural structure and socio-religious functions, and evaluate its potential as a local history learning resource for senior high school students. The research employed a qualitative historical approach involving observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data were collected from local community leaders, temple administrators, historical records, and relevant literature. The findings reveal that Pura Desa Bengkala has evolved through a long historical process influenced by the interaction between indigenous Balinese beliefs and Hindu cultural traditions. Architecturally, the temple reflects the Tri Mandala spatial concept and contains various sacred structures that symbolize the cosmological values of Balinese Hinduism. Beyond its religious function, Pura Desa Bengkala serves as a center for social integration, cultural preservation, and the transmission of local wisdom within the community. The study further demonstrates that the temple possesses substantial educational value as a local history learning resource. Its historical background, cultural significance, architectural characteristics, and embedded values can enrich history learning by providing contextual and experiential educational opportunities. Integrating local historical heritage into classroom instruction can strengthen students’ historical awareness, cultural identity, and appreciation of regional heritage. Therefore, Pura Desa Bengkala represents an important educational resource that supports the implementation of local history-based learning in senior high schools and contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage through education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the doomscrolling profiles of junior high school students and to formulate implications for guidance and counseling services in schools. The study employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive survey method involving 462 students at SMPN 1 Malang. Data were collected using the Indonesian version of the doomscrolling scale, consisting of 15 items with a seven-point Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive statistics, score categorization, item analysis, and reliability testing. The results indicate that students’ doomscrolling tendencies generally fall into the low category, suggesting that the behavior of repeatedly seeking out negative information has not yet become a dominant digital habit among the majority of students. Nevertheless, there are still some students with moderate to very high tendencies who require attention within guidance and counseling services. Key findings relate to the habit of checking the news feed to confirm the occurrence of bad events, a fear of social media content but difficulty looking away, and the use of social media late into the night to search for negative news. This study provides an initial mapping of doomscrolling behavior among junior high school students in Indonesia as an empirical basis for the development of guidance and counseling services based on digital literacy, self-regulation, and digital well-being. Service implications can be addressed through classroom-based guidance focused on news literacy, group guidance using self-management techniques, group counseling using the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) approach, and individual counseling using the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach.

Abstract

The phenomenon of character crisis in the form of bullying at the elementary school level reflects a decline in moral values and a dulling of empathy and solidarity among students. This study aims to develop, test the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of digital comic media based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) assisted by Canva to internalize the value of solidarity in fifth-grade students of SD IT Al-Minah. This type of research is research and development (Research and Development) using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects involved 21 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation questionnaires, education practitioners, student responses, and test instruments (pre-test and post-test). Data analysis techniques were carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study show that PBL-based digital comic media meets the following criteria: (1) Very Feasible based on the validation test of material experts by 92% (Very Valid), media experts by 93% (Very Valid), and language experts by 96% (Very Valid); (2) Very Practical based on 93% of teacher responses, 82% of individual student responses (Very Practical), and 87% of large group trials (Very Practical); and (3) Effective based on significant improvements in cognitive and affective learning outcomes. The success of internalizing the value of solidarity was analyzed using Max Scheler's hierarchy of values, which showed a shift in students' behavioral motives from mere sensory pleasure to ethical-spiritual awareness, reflected through indicators of inclusive collaboration, active concern, and sharing. The developed PBL-based digital comic media proved valid, practical, and effective as an innovative instrument to suppress bullying behavior and internalize the value of solidarity at the elementary education level

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is a public service intervention in education and nutrition that requires sound governance to ensure accurate targeting and long-term sustainability. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Good Governance principles and identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the execution of the MBG Program at SMA Negeri 1 Pemali, Pemali Subdistrict, Bangka Regency. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with school administrators, the SPPG kitchen team, students, parents, and policy stakeholders, as well as document analysis. The findings reveal that the principles of transparency, accountability, participation, responsiveness, rule of law, effectiveness, and efficiency have been implemented throughout the program, from food preparation to meal distribution and consumption. Nevertheless, administrative standardization remains limited. Supporting factors include clear procedures, effective coordination, prompt responses to technical issues, and cross-sectoral policy support. Inhibiting factors involve inconsistent beneficiary data, weak documentation, limited logistical facilities, unstructured parental participation, and varying student consumption behavior. Strengthening documentation systems, data integration, and structured participation mechanisms is essential to improve governance quality in the MBG Program.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools often encounters low student comprehension due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods and the abstract nature of the concepts. This study aims to determine the effect of utilizing animated video media on science learning outcomes, specifically on the Solar System topic, for grade V students at SD Negeri 1 Gegesik Kulon. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design was employed. The sample consisted of grade V students, divided into an experimental group of 30 students and a control group of 30 students, selected via saturated sampling. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests, and subsequently analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test. The results demonstrated a significant increase in the experimental group, with the mean score rising from 31.33 on the pre-test to 91.67 on the post-test. In contrast, the control group's mean score decreased from 28.67 on the pre-test to 17.17 on the post-test. Statistical analysis yielded a t-count of 4.267, which is greater than the t-table of 2.001, and a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings indicate that the utilization of animated video media has a highly significant and positive effect on improving students' science learning outcomes. The media effectively visualizes abstract concepts, accommodating both visual and auditory learning needs, thereby increasing student engagement and understanding in science education.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the strategic role of participatory communication in strengthening community-based food security programs through a systematic literature review. Adopting the PRISMA 2020 protocol, a search was conducted in the Scopus database for the period 2015-2026 using keyword strings related to participatory communication, stakeholders, and food security. Of the 179 documents initially identified, 114 selected journal articles were analyzed in depth using content analysis techniques. This study finds that, unlike prior reviews that examine participatory communication and collaborative governance as separate strands, this synthesis integrates both perspectives and identifies elite dominance and power asymmetry as the dominant communicative barrier across the reviewed studies. The governance paradigm in the grain production sector has shifted from a one-way technocratic model to a collaborative governance model, positioning farmers and indigenous communities as equal partners. Optimal communication mechanisms such as interpersonal dialogue and public deliberation build a sense of community belonging, while social capital and institutional support catalyze this transition. The study's conclusions emphasize that sustainable food sovereignty can only be achieved through the redistribution of power and the integration of local knowledge into formal policies through emancipatory communication spaces. Policymakers are advised to institutionalize binding co-decision mechanisms in local food governance, rather than relying on consultative-only participatory forums that risk legitimizing predetermined decisions.

Abstract

This study evaluates the integration of Christian character values within the Christian Religious Education (PAK) curriculum at the Institut Teknologi Perkebunan Pelalawan Indonesia (ITP2I). The urgency of this research stems from the academic and moral decline among students, such as low discipline and a lack of structured learning modules, which hinders spiritual transformation. The research problems focus on how the character values are integrated across the context, input, process, and product dimensions, and how a structured module can be designed as a solution. Consequently, the study aims to analyze these four evaluation dimensions and formulate a structured PAK teaching module to optimize character development. Theoretically, this research benefits the enrichment of curriculum evaluation models in vocational technical institutions, while practically providing a standardized framework for lecturers to foster students' integrity. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach utilizing Daniel L. Stufflebeam’s CIPP evaluation model. Data were gathered through documentation, observations, and semi-structured interviews with the Vice Rector, PAK lecturers, and students. The results indicate that character integration in the context dimension appears only symbolically. Input and process dimensions reveal that PAK instruction remains ad hoc and lacks standard modules, leading to fragmented character internalization. Furthermore, product evaluation lacks measured criteria. To overcome these deficits, this study designs a structured PAK module consisting of 16 comprehensive learning sessions covering biblical foundations, personal character development, and professional ethics tailored for the plantation sector. In conclusion, a structured learning tool is crucial to scaffolding moral development and achieving holistic student transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of General Bureaucratic Reform in the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government using William N. Dunn’s evaluation framework. Bureaucratic reform is a national strategic agenda within the 2010–2025 Grand Design to build a clean, accountable, capable and service-oriented bureaucracy. Data were collected through interviews, observations and a review of official documents from the Ministry of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPANRB), and were subsequently analysed using a descriptive qualitative approach based on Dunn’s six evaluation criteria: effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, fairness, responsiveness and accuracy. The main novelty of this evaluation of the General Bureaucratic Reform (RB) policy in the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government (Kukar Regency Government) lies in the shift in focus from upstream administrative assessment towards agile, high-integrity performance-based governance (SAKIP) to support the ‘Golden Indonesia 2045’ vision. The research findings indicate positive achievements in the simplification of organisational structure (score of 100.45 per cent), yet weaknesses remain, such as in the development of the Integrity Zone (0.5), SPI (67.14 per cent) and SAKIP (65.93 per cent). Effectiveness remains partial, efficiency is low due to weak digital integration, adequacy and equity are insufficient, bureaucratic responsiveness is limited, and the relevance of policies does not yet fully align with local needs. This study offers practical contributions in the form of strategic recommendations for improvement, whilst also expanding the application of the Dunn framework at the regional level.
