Abstract

Rapid urbanization has significantly transformed land cover patterns and intensified the Surface Urban Heat Island (SUHI) phenomenon in many tropical cities, posing increasing environmental and public health challenges. However, comprehensive long-term assessments integrating land cover dynamics, land surface temperature (LST), and SUHI using cloud-based geospatial platforms remain limited, particularly in rapidly developing cities of eastern Indonesia. This study investigates the spatiotemporal relationship between land cover change and SUHI dynamics in Manado City, Indonesia, between 2000 and 2023 by integrating Landsat imagery, Google Earth Engine (GEE), and a GeoAI-based Random Forest classification approach. Landsat 7 ETM+ and Landsat 9 OLI/TIRS datasets were processed to generate land cover maps and retrieve LST, while SUHI intensity was derived from spatial thermal anomalies. Classification accuracy was evaluated using confusion matrices, achieving Overall Accuracy of 95.28% (Kappa = 0.915) for 2000 and 92.00% (Kappa = 0.870) for 2023. Results reveal a substantial decline in vegetation from 10.844,523 ha (75,69%) to 9.724,045 ha (67,87%), accompanied by an expansion of built-up land from 3.374,629 ha (23,55%)  to 3.939,957 ha (27,49%). These land cover transformations corresponded with an increase in average LST from 33.79°C to 37.08°C and a spatial expansion of high-intensity SUHI zones from the urban core toward developing suburban districts. Subdistrict-level analysis further shows considerable spatial heterogeneity in thermal conditions, with the greatest warming occurring in the most intensively developed areas. The results confirm that urban expansion and vegetation loss are the principal drivers of increasing SUHI intensity in Manado, supporting climate-responsive urban planning and sustainable land-use management

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model on the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in IPAS at SDN 002 Pulau Komang. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 35 fifth-grade students selected using total sampling. Data were collected using a 20-item multiple-choice learning achievement test and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the Paired Samples t-Test with the assistance of IBM SPSS. The results showed an improvement in students' IPAS learning outcomes after the implementation of the TGT model, with the mean score increasing from 52.00 in the pretest to 81.14 in the posttest. The Paired Samples t-Test showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Therefore, H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. These findings indicate that the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model has a significant effect on students' IPAS learning outcomes. The TGT model can provide an active, collaborative, and enjoyable learning environment that supports student engagement and learning achievement. Thus, TGT can be considered an alternative innovative learning model for IPAS instruction in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of interactive IPAS learning multimedia in improving the critical thinking skills and science literacy of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Pakel Yogyakarta. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a pretest–posttest control group design was employed. The participants were divided into an experimental class, which used interactive IPAS learning multimedia, and a control class, which received conventional instruction. Data were collected through validated and reliable tests measuring critical thinking skills and science literacy. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, Independent Samples t-tests, and N-Gain analysis. The results indicate that the interactive multimedia significantly improved students' critical thinking skills and science literacy. Before the intervention, no significant differences were found between the experimental and control groups in critical thinking skills (p = 0.523) or science literacy (p = 0.482). After the intervention, the experimental class achieved a significantly higher mean posttest score in critical thinking skills (72.61) than the control class (55.56) (p < 0.001), with an N-Gain of 0.4832 (moderate) compared to 0.1651 (low). In science literacy, the experimental class also outperformed the control class, obtaining a mean posttest score of 74.08 versus 68.92 (p = 0.001). The N-Gain values were 0.4945 and 0.4060, respectively, both classified as moderate, although the experimental class demonstrated greater improvement. These findings demonstrate that interactive IPAS learning multimedia is an effective instructional tool for enhancing elementary students' critical thinking skills and science literacy.

Abstract

This study examined the user-perceived practicality of a student worksheet integrating Riau Malay songket motifs into fourth-grade geometry learning. A descriptive quantitative approach was embedded in a limited formative trial involving 14 fourth-grade students and one classroom teacher. Data were collected using a 15-item student response questionnaire, a 20-item teacher response questionnaire, open-ended teacher feedback, classroom observation, and documentation. Both questionnaires used a four-point scale. Student responses reached 829 of 840 points (98.69%), while the teacher response reached 78 of 80 points (97.50%); both were categorized as very practical. Aspect-level student results ranged from 97.62% to 100.00%, indicating strong perceived usability, readability, visual appeal, learning support, motivation, and cultural relevance. The teacher identified four targeted revisions: adding space for drawing plane figures, relocating a measurement label to the triangle height, simplifying a fan illustration, and providing complete length and width information. The findings indicate that the worksheet was highly accepted in the limited trial and can proceed to a broader field test after minor revision. Because the study relied on a small group, one teacher, and post-use responses, the results demonstrate practicality and user acceptance rather than effectiveness in improving achievement.

Abstract

Previous studies on village financial management have produced inconsistent findings regarding the roles of knowledge, competence, and accounting system utilization, leaving a research gap that requires further empirical examination. This study aims to analyze the influence of knowledge, competence, and utilization of accounting systems on village financial management in Purwoasri District, Kediri Regency, Indonesia. A quantitative approach with a causal associative design was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to village officials involved in financial management across 23 villages, yielding 83 valid responses selected via purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) software. The results indicate that knowledge and competence have a positive but statistically insignificant effect on village financial management, whereas the utilization of the accounting system has a positive and significant effect (β = 0.611; p < 0.05). Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence village financial management, explaining 60.2% of its variance (R² = 0.602; F = 39.809; p < 0.05). The key contribution of this study lies in confirming that the utilization of the accounting system, specifically SISKEUDES, is the most dominant determinant of village financial management quality, surpassing individual human resource factors. These findings imply that village governments and local authorities should prioritize the optimization of accounting system implementation, supplemented by targeted technical training for village apparatus, to realize transparent, accountable, and effective village financial governance.

Abstract

Natural disasters not only cause physical damage but also generate psychological trauma among students, disrupting their learning process, social interaction, and emotional development. This study developed puzzle game media as a means of post-disaster trauma recovery for students through guidance and counseling services, using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The subjects consisted of one material expert, one media expert, one guidance and counseling (BK) teacher, and nine students of class X-1 at SMA Swasta Dwi Tunggal, with data collected through expert validation sheets and user-response questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The puzzle game media achieved highly valid scores from the media expert (90%) and material expert (88.3%), and highly practical scores from the BK teacher (88%) and students (88.8%). These findings indicate that the puzzle game media is feasible as an alternative medium in guidance and counseling services, offering BK teachers a low-cost, easy-to-implement tool for supporting students' post-disaster trauma recovery and providing a foundation for developing similar psychosocial interventions in other disaster-affected school settings.

Abstract

The banking industry in Indonesia is currently facing increasingly high operational demands, ranging from the achievement of business targets and pressure to deliver excellent customer service to the need to adapt to rapid digital transformation, all of which require employees to consistently perform at an optimal level. Under these conditions, employee performance becomes a critical element in maintaining operational effectiveness and service quality within the banking sector. At the same time, high job demands have the potential to induce work stress among employees, which, if not properly managed, may adversely affect their psychological well-being and lead to an overall decline in performance. This study examines the effect of work stress on employee performance, with mental health serving as a mediating variable, among employees of Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) at the Bandar Lampung Branch Office. The data used in this study were primary data obtained from respondents' answers collected through the distribution of questionnaires. The sample consisted of 230 respondents, selected using a non-probability sampling method with a convenience sampling technique. This study employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis with the assistance of IBM AMOS, along with the Sobel test to examine the mediating effect. The findings support the hypothesis that work stress has a negative and significant effect on employee performance, and that mental health partially mediates the negative effect of work stress on the performance of BTN and BSI employees at the Bandar Lampung Branch Office. Based on the results of the descriptive analysis, this study recommends the need to review the distribution of workload and to arrange working hours and rest periods more proportionally, to provide psychological support programs and stress management training, and to offer appreciation or incentives as a form of recognition for employees' efforts and dedication in performing their work to the fullest extent.

Abstract

Teacher professional development is essential for improving the quality of teaching, yet its implementation is strongly influenced by school context and leadership. This study aims to examine: (1) how principals develop teacher professional development in schools; (2) the support received by principals; and (3) the obstacles encountered in its implementation. A qualitative multiple case study was conducted in three public junior high schools in Yogyakarta City. Participants were principals and teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis and analyzed using thematic analysis through within-case and cross-case analysis. The findings show that principals developed teacher professional development through needs identification using discussion, reflection, classroom observation, academic supervision, and educational report data, followed by school-based activities such as learning communities, school MGMPs, academic supervision, in-house training, and workshops. Implementation was supported by internal school stakeholders, funding, facilities, parents and school committees, and external partnerships. However, limited time due to workload and school schedules and low motivation among some teachers remained major obstacles. The study contributes to understanding school-based teacher professional development as a context-dependent process in which leadership, collaborative learning, resource support, and sustained follow-up are essential for strengthening teachers’ professional growth.

Abstract

The high divorce rate in Indonesia highlights the importance of preparing prospective couples for the challenges of married life. This study aims to examine the implementation of pre-marital counseling at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Panai Hulu District and explore prospective couples' understanding of the concept of a sakinah family following their participation in the program. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Informants consisted of Islamic religious counselors and five prospective couples selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation and analyzed using an interactive data analysis model. The findings indicate that, based on the experiences and perceptions of informants, pre-marital counseling helps prospective couples develop a better understanding of the objectives of marriage, the rights and obligations of spouses, family communication, and strategies for resolving domestic conflicts. The implementation of counseling was supported by the competence of religious counselors and administrative support from the KUA. However, limited time, inadequate instructional media, and participants' reluctance to express their opinions remained challenges. The study suggests the need for more participatory and practical counseling approaches, including discussions and case studies, to better address the needs of prospective couples in preparing for a harmonious, resilient, and sustainable sakinah family.
