Abstract

In the modern era filled with the influence of less educational media, moral problems in early childhood are increasing. Many children exhibit behavior that deviates from Islamic values such as honesty, helpfulness, and politeness. Therefore, faith and moral education from childhood is very important to build children's character based on Islamic teachings. This study aims to examine the application of faith and moral learning in Husna Jaya Kindergarten, Semarang City and assess its influence on the formation of Islamic character in children. The method used is qualitative descriptive research with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study revealed that learning faith and morals through daily routines, teacher examples, Islamic stories, and parental involvement were effective in fostering positive attitudes such as honesty, mutual help, forgiveness, and good use of language. With a fun and consistent approach, moral education has proven to be the main foundation in shaping Islamic personality from an early age.

Abstract

This article discusses the dynamics of interaction between Islam and the local wisdom of the Karo people in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Tanah Karo is known for its strong customary system and distinctive social structure, but in recent decades it has also experienced the growth of the Muslim community, both from native converts and immigrants. This research aims to examine how Islam adapts and forms harmony with local culture through the process of acculturation, cultural da'wah approaches, and collaboration between religious and traditional leaders. The methods used are literature studies and qualitative analysis of socio-religious practices in the Land of Karo. The results of the study show that the success of Islam in integrating with the Karo culture lies in a non-confrontational approach, respect for local values, and the use of traditional languages and symbols in religious activities. This study confirms that Islam and local culture are not opposing entities, but can synergize in building social cohesion and harmonious diversity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model and social skills on the critical thinking skills of grade V students of SDN 101901 Lubuk Pakam in Mathematics subjects. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a 2x2 factorial design, involving 44 students who were divided into an experimental group (using PBL) and a control group (using an expository model). Data was collected through critical thinking ability tests and social skills observations, then analyzed using the two-path ANOVA test. The results of the study showed that: (1) The PBL model was effective in improving the critical thinking skills of students, both those who had high and low social skills, with the highest average score in the PBL group and high social skills (83.00). (2) The expository model is also influential, but it is more effective in students with high social skills (80.50) than in low (68.93). (3) There is a significant interaction between learning models and social skills in influencing critical thinking skills (p < 0.05). The implications of this study emphasize the importance of applying the PBL model to develop critical thinking skills, especially when supported by adequate social skills. Teachers are advised to design collaborative learning that not only focuses on problem-solving, but also trains students' social skills. These findings contribute to the development of Mathematics learning strategies in primary schools, especially in the face of the demands of 21st century skills.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the professionalism of elementary school teachers, the relationship between economic burdens and the level of teacher professionalism, and what economic burdens are wrapped around and most wrapped around teachers in rural areas located in the Modoinding sub-district, South Minahasa district, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. A total of 92 teachers were selected as the sample of this study varying between levels D-II, D-III, and D-IV/S1. In-depth interviews were conducted in this study, and the identification results found that 30 teachers belonged to class IIIa with working periods varying between 10 to 16 years and a salary range between IDR.3,252,900 to IDR.3,570,100. The research results found several types of financial burdens experienced by teachers, and the most wrapped around them are limited salaries, incentives, and debt. It showed that instructors deal with a variety of financial difficulties, the most common being inadequate pay, little incentives, and excessive debt. Their inability to pay for necessities is hampered by these financial difficulties, which also have a negative effect on their concentration and commitment to their work-related obligations. Particularly when it comes to debt, teachers are frequently compelled to look for other means of money, which takes them away from their core responsibility as educators. As a result, these financial constraints may have a negative impact on the standard of instruction underscoring the need for more focused interventions to address these problems.

Abstract

This study explores the formation and development of practical theology as a sub-field within the Faculty of Theology at Universitas Kristen Indonesia Tomohon (UKIT), under the auspices of the Yayasan Gereja Masehi Injili di Minahasa (GMIM) Dominee Albertus Zakarias Runturambi Wenas. Employing a qualitative and interpretive approach, informed by Osmer's four tasks of practical theological interpretation, the research examines how practical theology is conceptualized, structured, taught, and experienced within the institution. Data were collected through interviews with faculty members and students, document analysis, participant observation, and focus group discussions. Findings reveal that while there is growing awareness of practical theology's importance, its implementation remains inconsistent across the curriculum. Practical theology is often viewed more as a set of ministerial skills than as a reflective academic discipline. Structural limitations include minimal credit hour allocation and poor integration with foundational theological fields. Pedagogical approaches remain largely lecture-based, with limited use of experiential learning strategies. Field education experiences are valuable, but lack consistent theological supervision and reflection. Despite these challenges, UKIT demonstrates a strong commitment to contextual theological education, though deeper incorporation of indigenous theological resources is needed. The study concludes that meaningful reform requires a multi-dimensional approach involving conceptual reorientation, curricular revision, pedagogical innovation, strengthened field education supervision, and deepened contextual engagement. By adopting an integrative and reflective model of practical theology, UKIT can better equip theological leaders who are not only knowledgeable but also spiritually attuned and contextually responsive.
