Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of reflective abstraction of prospective teacher students in solving Bayes' theorem problems in the opportunity theory course. Using a qualitative approach, this research data was taken from prospective 5th semester mathematics teachers, as many as 56 students. The subjects of the study were then selected 5 subjects using purposive sampling techniques. The instruments used are problem-solving tests and interview guidelines have been validated by experts. Documentation data in the form of written test results, videos when doing test questions, and videos during interviews. Qualitative analysis is carried out by data reduction, data presentation, data interpretation, and conclusions. The validity test of the data in this study used triangulation of data collected through various sources, namely comparing the results of student answers and in-depth interviews. The results of this study show that there are differences in the level of skill or capacity of students in solving problems regarding Bayes' proposition. This difference was observed based on the way students thought when given a problem in the form of a story problem.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the student’s problem-solving-ability using Polya stages in solving Improper Integral questions in online Integral Calculus Learning through zoom applying Student-Centered Learning. It is very rare to find the research that examines students' problem-solving abilities in solving improper integral problems. The research method used in this study was ex-post facto research. The research subjects were 14 students from class B in the third semester of the Mathematics Study Program FKIP UNIB 2020/2021 getting grades A and A- in Integral Calculus Learning. The analysis in Polya stages consisted of Understanding the Problem (P1); Devising a Plan (P2); Carrying out the Plan (P3); and Looking Back (P4. The instruments used to collect data were improper integral test sheets, analysis guide sheets, and open questionnaires. The result showed the mean score of the student’s problem-solving ability was 74.02. The mean value in each stage: P1 = 79.91; P2 = 79.46; P3 = 72.77; and P4 = 65.18. It was concluded that students already had good abilities in understanding problems and planning solutions.

Abstract

Instilling an attitude of religious moderation in State Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKIN) can be done using teaching materials based on religious moderation. Unfortunately, there are still few teaching materials that can be used for this purpose. This study aims to produce valid and practical digital-interactive teaching materials for Real Analysis based on religious moderation for PTKIN students in Indonesia. This development research combines the ADDIE model with the 4D model. Several experts were involved as validators and while fifth-semester students in the Mathematics Education Study Program were involved in the trial of the research product. Based on the validation results of material and language experts, teaching materials, and learning technology experts, mathematics learning design experts, and religious moderation experts, it was found that the teaching materials produced were very valid (3.39%). Based on small group trials, large groups, and lecturer responses, it was found that the teaching materials produced were very practical (83.22%). Thus, the digital-interactive teaching materials for Real Analysis based on religious moderation are very suitable for use by PTKIN students in Indonesia.

Abstract

Algebraic thinking skills need to be developed through learning mathematics, this is necessary to improve understanding of algebraic concepts. The ability to generalize experiences about numbers and calculations is a component of algebraic thinking abilities. It is important to know the student's algebraic thinking process. By knowing the student's thinking process, you can find out where the student's difficulties are and the causes of these difficulties. This research aims to analyze students' algebraic thinking processes based on students' cognitive levels. This research is qualitative research with an exploratory method. The subjects of this research were 21 Semester II Mathematics Education students at STKIP Kusuma Negara Jakarta. The data collection technique begins with giving algebraic thinking questions. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results showed that students in the high and medium categories met the indicators for all algebraic thinking, while students in the low category did not meet the algebraic thinking indicators. At the cognitive level, S1 subject meet all cognitive levels, S2 subject do not meet the cognitive level of knowledge utilization, and S3 subject only meet the cognitive analysis knowledge level.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Student Worksheets (LKPD) that utilize contextual problems in teaching plane geometry (quadrilaterals & triangles) while considering students' critical thinking abilities. The study adopts a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4D development model, which includes the Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate phases. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Batanghari with a sample of 10 students from class VII.3. The research instruments used in this study include expert validation questionnaires to assess the validity of the LKPD, student response questionnaires to measure the practicality of the LKPD and six essay-type test items to measure the effectiveness of the LKPD. The research findings indicate that the developed LKPD has high quality in terms of validity. The overall average scores from material and media expert validation were 3.675 and 3.275, respectively. Furthermore, the student response questionnaire showed that the LKPD meets the practicality criteria with an overall average score of 2.95. Regarding effectiveness, the test results demonstrate that the LKPD is effective with, a learning mastery rate of 60%, which falls into the category of reasonably good.

Abstract

Entering the 21st century, having 21st century capabilities is very necessary to be able to answer all the challenges that are present in this century. One of the abilities of the 21st century is the ability to think critically. One of the factors that influences critical thinking skills is gender. Therefore, this research aims to use qualitative descriptive research techniques to describe students' mathematical critical thinking abilities, especially in the material on binomial probability distribution. The research subjects were taken using a purposive sampling technique, namely 4 students were selected, namely 2 male students and 2 female students in class XII MIPA 1 MAN 1 Semarang City. Considerations for selecting research subjects are seen from students' daily mathematics scores, students' gender, students' responses when learning mathematics. The data collection technique used in this research is the test method. The form of test used is an essay test. The data analysis technique is carried out through data reduction followed by data presentation and drawing conclusions. The data validity test was carried out through triangulation of data sources based on gender, namely male and female. The results of this research show that there are significant differences in analysis and inference indicators related to mathematical critical thinking abilities between male and female research subjects.

Abstract

Mathematical creative thinking ability is an important aspect in facing the era of disruption. Based on the results of PISA and TIMSS studies, the mathematical creative thinking ability of students in Indonesia is still low. Challenge Based Learning (CBL) presents an alternative solution to address this problem. On the other hand, ethnomathematics and instagram will bring their own meaningfulness to students' learning. The innovation of CBL with an ethnomathematics nuance, supported by instagram, becomes one alternative in developing mathematical creative thinking abilities. This study aims to describe the effect of CBL with an ethnomathematics nuance supported by instagram on mathematical creative thinking ability through a literature review. The literature review analysis was conducted on relevant national and international studies. The facts show that the use of CBL models makes students more creative and innovative, thus developing their mathematical creative thinking ability. The CBL framework integrated with ethnomathematics supported by instagram will provide a unique learning significance for students. The results of the literature review indicate that the innovative CBL model with an ethnomathematics nuance supported by instagram can have a positive impact on students' mathematical creative thinking ability.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning and literacy abilities are abilities every person must have today to keep up with current developments. These two abilities are honed through learning mathematics at school. In learning, appropriate media is needed. This research aims to develop mathematical reasoning and literacy skills through student worksheets. Research and Development research uses the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The data collection technique in this research uses tests. Data analysis techniques use the multivariate normality test, covariance matrix homogeneity test, Hotelling  test, and post-Hotelling  test. Before use, student worksheets are validated by media experts and material experts. The results were  for media experts, and  for material experts, so the student worksheet was suitable for use. Student responses regarding using student worksheets in the experimental class showed , which means the student worksheets are practical. The final data analysis (posttest) shows that the average mathematical reasoning and literacy abilities in classes that use student worksheets are better than in classes that do not.

Abstract

Effective classroom management can improve the quality of learning. However, there are still problems in teaching mathematics teachers related to classroom management, especially in teaching algebraic material. Therefore, this research aims to describe the teacher's teaching profile regarding mathematics classroom management in algebraic forms material. The type of research used was a descriptive study using a qualitative approach through data collection using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The participants of this research were one mathematics teacher and 30 grade 9 students at MTsN 1 Kota Malang. Data analysis techniques were carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that the teacher's teaching has implemented a student-centered learning approach and supports good classroom management. Teachers have been able to implement Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) in teaching and classroom management for effective learning. Therefore, the results of this research can contribute to knowledge regarding technology-based mathematics classroom management for students.

Abstract

This research aims to apply problem-based learning with a teaching props to improve the problem-solving abilities of polyhedron. This type of research is Class Action Research (PTK) that is carried out in three cycles. The subjects of this research were 32 students in class VIII 5 of SMP Negeri 4 Bengkulu City in the 2022/2023 Academic Year. Data collection is carried out through a problem-solving ability test that is structured with reference to Polya and competence achievement indicators on the cube, beam, prisma, and limas. The student understands the problem on the LKPD, then discusses the determination of their respective tasks for the work of the LKPD, the student solves the problem using the help of the teaching props according to the learning indicators, students present the results of the discussion, and the student works on the KPM using the stages of problem solving. In the indicator of understanding the problem, the average score increased from 61 (cycle I) to 88.49 (cycle III); in the indicator of planning problem-solving, the average score increased from 39 (cycle I) to 86.11 (cycle III); in the indicator of implementing the problem-solving plan, the average score increased from 40 (cycle I) to 85.12 (cycle III); and in the indicator of reviewing and drawing conclusions, the average score increased from 39 (cycle I) to 91.67 (cycle III). Students' problem-solving skills in cycle III have reached the "very good" criteria for each indicator. This improvement is also reflected in the N-gain results, showing a score of 0.53 from cycle II to cycle III, with a moderate level of improvement.
