As-Sabiqun Journal is an interdisciplinary publication of original research and articles on Islamic Studies and Educational Sciences. This journal was published by Pendidikan Islam Anak Usia Dini (PIAUD) STIT Palapa Nusantara Lombok - NTB which was published twice in a year (biannualy), March and October with a minimum of 5 articles. The journal aims to provide a forum for scholarly understanding of the field of education and plays an important role in promoting the process that accumulated knowledge, values, and skills. Scientific manuscript dealing with Islamic Studies and Educational Sciences topics are particularly welcome to be submitted. The journal encompasses research articles, original research report, and scientific reviews in education in any fields including: 1. Early Childhood Education Theory; 2. Early Childhood Education Learning Practice; 3. Early Childhood Development includes Religious and Moral, Cognitive, Language, Social-Emotional, Physical-Motoric, and Art Values; 4. PAUD Policy; 5. Parenting; 6. Teacher Education and Training; 7. Learning Strategy. Editorial Team invites academics, lecturers and researchers to contribute according to the scope above. Articles can be submitted online, by registering as a author (Online Submissions). Every article that goes to the editorial staff will be selected through Peer Review Processes. This journal is an open access journal which means that all freely available content is used. Abstract

The low level of social-emotional development among early childhood learners at PAUD Al-Ibad, particularly in the areas of self-awareness, social responsibility, and prosocial behavior serves as the background for this study. The research aims to examine the effectiveness of the Hole of Rainbow media in developing the social-emotional aspects of children aged 4–5 years. A quantitative method was employed using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 18 children from Group A selected through total sampling. The research instrument consisted of observation sheets, and the data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test. The results show a significant increase in social-emotional scores from the pretest (mean = 22.2) to the posttest (mean = 48.3), with a significance value of ρ = 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating that the Hole of Rainbow media is effective in enhancing early childhood social-emotional development. These findings are supported by previous research demonstrating the effectiveness of picture story media in similar contexts. The study concludes that educational play-based learning media can positively contribute to the development of children’s social-emotional skills. The implication is that early childhood educators are encouraged to incorporate this media into structured and enjoyable play activities. Furthermore, the study opens opportunities for the development of similar media combined with elements such as music or storytelling to enrich children's learning experiences holistically.

Abstract

Character development in early childhood, particularly in the dimension of independence, is a critical aspect of shaping the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (Pancasila Student Profile). However, studies examining the relationship between parenting styles and the development of independent character in young children remain limited. This study aims to analyze the correlation between parenting styles and the independence dimension of early childhood development. Using a quantitative correlational approach, data were collected from 92 parents in Cipedes District through standardized and validated questionnaires measuring parenting styles and children's independence outcomes. The data were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation test. The results show a significant positive relationship between parenting style and child independence (r = 0.590, p < 0.001). The majority of respondents (89.1%) applied a democratic parenting style, and 90.2% of children were categorized as "Developing Very Well" in terms of independence. These findings align with Baumrind's theory, emphasizing the role of democratic parenting in fostering independence in early childhood. This study contributes to the literature on family-based character education and offers practical insights for parents and early childhood educators in adopting parenting approaches that promote children's autonomy.

Abstract

The low level of fine motor skills in early childhood has become a concern in early childhood education, particularly due to the limited use of varied, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate learning media. This study aims to determine the effect of using loose part media on the development of fine motor skills in young children. A quantitative method with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed, involving 10 Group B students at RA Assalam, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument consisted of monitoring documents based on indicators of fine motor development in early childhood, aligned with developmental achievement standards. The results showed an increase in the average score from 27.40 before the intervention to 42.50 after the intervention. The Wilcoxon test yielded a significance value of 0.005 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. Thus, the use of loose part media proved effective in enhancing the fine motor skills of early childhood learners. These findings highlight the importance of implementing flexible, exploratory, and child-friendly media to create enjoyable learning experiences and support children’s holistic development.

Abstract

The limited implementation of the deep learning approach in early childhood education, particularly in Cijeungjing, Ciamis Regency, has become a key concern in efforts to improve the quality of learning. This approach is believed to enrich the learning process by integrating mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning. This study aims to assess kindergarten teachers’ readiness to implement the deep learning approach, based on four dimensions of the readiness for change theory: appropriateness, change efficacy, management support, and personal benefit. A quantitative descriptive method was employed using a survey involving 68 teachers from various early childhood education institutions. The analysis revealed that all readiness dimensions were categorized as high: management support (76.4%), appropriateness (74.6%), change efficacy (74.2%), and personal benefit (70.0%). These findings indicate that early childhood teachers in the region possess both psychological and structural readiness to adopt deep learning-based instructional innovations. The study implies the importance of continuous training and mentoring to holistically strengthen teachers' readiness in supporting 21st-century learning transformation.

Abstract

The scarcity of research on English-speaking skills among children aged 5–6 years, particularly regarding vocabulary mastery, underlies this study. The research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Gelpitas technique in assisting children aged 5–6 years in speaking English. A pre-experimental design with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest model was employed, involving 15 group B students selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through observation and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon test in SPSS 25. The results indicate that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted, with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 < 0.05. These findings demonstrate that the application of the Gelpitas technique significantly improves the English-speaking skills of children aged 5–6 years.

Abstract

Stoichiometry is a fundamental topic in high school chemistry education that often leads to misconceptions among students. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital curation in enhancing students’ understanding of stoichiometric concepts, while also fostering critical thinking skills and the values of gotong royong. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design was employed, involving 64 Grade XI science students at MA Hidayatussibyan NW Sengkerang. The results indicate that the experimental group experienced a significant improvement in stoichiometric understanding, with an N-Gain score of 0.84, categorized as high. Students' critical thinking skills also showed consistent improvement across multiple assessment tools, including CCTST, CTMS, and CTS. Moreover, collaborative dimensions such as teamwork, collectivism, and the spirit of gotong royong demonstrated significant positive development. Qualitative data further support these findings, highlighting increased active participation in discussions, more equitable role distribution, and stronger peer support. These results suggest that generative AI can reduce misconceptions through adaptive visualizations, while digital curation enhances critical evaluation and culturally grounded collaboration. Overall, this learning model presents an innovative strategy well-suited to address the challenges of 21st-century chemistry education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze medical students’ perspectives on abortion from multiple dimensions, including religion, health, and legal regulations. A qualitative method was employed, involving 55 medical students from the 2024 cohort at the University of Mataram as respondents. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires to measure levels of agreement with abortion-related statements, as well as open-ended questions for in-depth analysis. The results show that the majority of respondents support abortion only in cases of medical emergencies that threaten the mother’s safety, while rejecting abortion on economic grounds. Reproductive health education was perceived as effective in preventing unethical abortion practices, while Indonesia’s abortion regulations were generally considered fair, though subject to varying interpretations. The findings also indicate that religion significantly influences decision-making, though the extent of its influence differs across individuals. Key factors considered by students in evaluating abortion include medical, economic, psychological, legal, and religious aspects. The study concludes that a holistic approach is essential in addressing abortion issues, balancing medical, social, and ethical dimensions to support health policies that are responsive, inclusive, and respectful of societal values.

Abstract

The limited number of studies evaluating the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum in Islamic Psychology programs forms the background of this research, despite its crucial role in ensuring the sustainability, effectiveness, and quality of MBKM implementation in religious higher education institutions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the implementation of the MBKM curriculum in the Islamic Psychology Study Program, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Da’wah, UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product). A qualitative case study approach was employed with six purposively selected participants. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, analyzed using Atlas.ti 8, with data reliability tested through source triangulation and double coding, yielding a Krippendorff’s Alpha value of 0.979, which indicates very high reliability. The results show that in terms of context, MBKM is relevant to student competency development; in terms of input, the program expands access to learning experiences but still faces obstacles in socialization and infrastructure, including the ‘Merpati’ application system. In the process dimension, internship and student exchange activities provide significant benefits but remain constrained by course conversion and differences in academic culture. In terms of product, MBKM contributes to enhancing students’ skills, although learning outcomes are not yet evenly distributed. The study concludes that the implementation of MBKM in the Islamic Psychology Study Program has had a positive impact, but requires continuous improvement in socialization, academic administration, and technological system utilization. The theoretical implication of this research enriches the literature on MBKM evaluation in the context of Islamic Psychology, while the practical implication provides a basis for recommendations to study program managers in formulating adaptive and contextually relevant strategies for improving MBKM implementation.
