Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of implementing the SQ3R strategy assisted by text ulustration media on students’ reading comprehension skills in the Indonesian language subject for Grade V at SD Katolik Geliting. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample consisted of 22 Grade V students. Data collection techniques included test and observation, with instruments in the form of test items and obsrvation sheets. Data analysis wa conducted using the normality test and hypothesis testing through the paired sample t-test. The result showed that the mean pretest score of 62,27 increased to 79,55 in the posttest. The percentage of students’ learning mastery also increased from 22.73% to 68,18%. The normality test results indicated that the data were normally distributed, thus meeting the requirements for hypothesis testing. Furthermorw, the paired sample t-test resilts showed a significance value of less than 0,05 ( Sig. < 0,05), indicating that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. These findings demonstrated that the implementation of the SQ3R strategy assisted by text illustration media had a significant effect on improving students’ reading comprehension skills. Therefore, the SQ3R strategy supported by text illustration media can serve as an effective alternative in enchancing reading comprehension skills, particulary in learning factual and opinion texts at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris konvensional di tingkat sekolah dasar seringkali memicu kebosanan dini pada siswa, sehingga penerapan strategi berbasis kelompok interaktif menjadi sangat penting. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi partisipasi aktif dan dinamika interaksi sosial siswa dalam penerapan Diskusi Pembelajaran Kolaboratif (CLD) yang dibantu media Wordwall sebagai instrumen pendukung pembelajaran untuk materi Bilangan Ordinal. Dengan menggunakan desain studi kasus kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini mengamati proses pembelajaran alami yang melibatkan 41 siswa kelas lima dan seorang guru bahasa Inggris di SD Negeri 01 Wiradesa. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik observasi non-partisipan murni dan dokumentasi kelas, yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi CLD berhasil merangsang interaksi dinamis antar siswa dan mendorong komunikasi dua arah yang efektif dengan guru sebagai fasilitator kelas. Penggunaan Wordwall secara konsisten sebagai media pendukung terbukti efektif dalam memicu diskusi kelompok, meningkatkan motivasi belajar, dan mengkonkretkan materi abstrak bilangan ordinal menjadi aktivitas pembelajaran berbasis permainan yang menyenangkan. Namun, kendala yang dihadapi di lapangan meliputi beragam tingkat kepercayaan diri siswa secara individual dan tantangan dalam mengelola kelas besar yang membutuhkan bimbingan intensif dari guru. Secara keseluruhan, studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa metode Diskusi Pembelajaran Kolaboratif yang dibantu oleh teknologi Wordwall interaktif layak direkomendasikan sebagai strategi alternatif untuk menciptakan iklim pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang komunikatif dan berpusat pada siswa di tingkat sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low creativity in mathematics learning among elementary school students. This is indicated by students’ lack of ability to solve problems in various ways, limited ability to develop new ideas, and low participation during mathematics learning activities. One effort to improve students' creativity is by implementing Project Based Learning This study aims to determine the effectiveness of project-based learning on elementary school students’ creativity in mathematics learning. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students of SDN Tenggilis Mejoyo Surabaya. Data collection techniques included tests, observations, and documentation. The results showed that project-based learning was effective in improving students’ creativity in mathematics learning. Students in the experimental class showed better improvement in creativity compared to students in the control class. This can be seen from the indicators of creativity including fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration which increased after the implementation of project-based learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe students’ learning outcomes in solving problems involving arithmetic sequences and series. The method used is a case study with a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects included 13 students from the 11th grade, selected using purposive sampling, with 3 students chosen to represent each of the three ability categories (high ability, moderate ability, and low ability). The data were analyzed using the theory proposed by Miles et al. (2014), which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that students in the high-ability category demonstrate strong comprehension and analytical skills. Students in the moderate-ability category were found to be quite capable of explaining their choice of strategies and providing sound solutions. Students in the low-ability category struggled with understanding, solving, and analyzing problems involving arithmetic sequences and geometry.

Abstract

RIZLAHANI, 2026. The Implementation of Mobile Learning Technology (Powtoon) to Improve the Learning Outcomes of Fourth Grade Students at MI Muhammadiyah Buntu Barana. Thesis. Supervisor I: Imam Akbar, S.Kom., M.Kom., and Supervisor II: Fuad Danindra, S.Kom., M.I.Kom. Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang. This study aimed to determine the process of implementing mobile learning technology (Powtoon) to improve the learning outcomes of fourth grade students at MI Muhammadiyah Buntu Barana. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted through the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were all fourth grade students. The data collection technique was carried out through tests to measure students’ learning outcomes during the learning process. The results of the study showed that the implementation of mobile learning technology (Powtoon) was able to improve students’ learning outcomes. This can be seen from the increase in students’ learning mastery in each learning cycle. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of mobile learning technology (Powtoon) is effective in improving students’ learning outcomes in the Indonesian language subject, particularly on conjunction material, at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of watchkeeping duty on AHTS AMBER in order to prevent the risk of collision during voyages. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, with data collected through interviews with ship officers, direct field observation, and document review during sea practice on board. The findings show that watchkeeping practice has not been fully optimal according to STCW 1978 as amended in 2010, particularly regarding crew discipline in handing over the watch, coordination among watch personnel, and understanding of safety procedures. Navigational aids such as Radar and ARPA have also not been fully utilized to support collision avoidance, mainly because several officers were not yet familiar with the newer radar unit. These conditions are influenced by limited crew skill, insufficient understanding of standard operating procedures, and inadequate oversight from ship management. Improved training and familiarization, consistent enforcement of standard operating procedures, and better use of modern navigational equipment are recommended to increase vigilance and early hazard detection, so that the risk of collision can be minimized.

Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum requires teachers to design student-centered learning through integrated planning, strategies, and assessment. Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) play an important role in developing students' critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and contextual understanding of natural and social phenomena. However, several challenges still exist in practice, such as the limited availability of teaching tools, differences in student characteristics, and the complexity of implementing assessments in accordance with the principles of the Independent Curriculum. This study aims to analyze the planning, strategies, and assessment in designing IPAS learning implemented by teachers at Gulun 3 Elementary School. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that teachers develop learning modules based on Learning Outcomes (LI) and Learning Objectives Flow (ATP) of the Independent Curriculum. The learning strategies implemented are student-centered through the use of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Based Learning (PJBL) models, group discussions, and the use of digital media. Assessment is carried out comprehensively through diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments, which cover cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. However, challenges remain, including limited technological resources and differentiated learning management. Therefore, it is necessary to improve teacher skills and strengthen teaching resources to optimize the implementation of science and knowledge learning models in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the news text writing skills of grade XI.3 students at SMAN 19 Makassar through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles based on the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model, covering the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 26 students, with data collected through writing tests and classroom observation and analyzed qualitatively. The results show that Discovery Learning significantly improved students’ writing skills. In the pre-cycle, the average score was 68, with only 27% of students reaching the minimum mastery criterion (KKM ≥ 75). After Cycle I, the average score rose to 80, with 81% of students achieving mastery, and in Cycle II it reached 88, with all students (100%) meeting the standard. The greatest improvement occurred in the completeness of the 5W+1H elements, followed by gains in text structure, linguistic rules, and news content. It is concluded that the Discovery Learning model is effective in improving students’ news text writing skills.Keywords: Discovery Learning, writing skills, news text

Abstract

This classroom action research was motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes regarding the topic of 2D shapes among fourth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri Latsari Tuban, as evidenced by suboptimal achievement of learning mastery. This situation highlighted the need to implement a learning model capable of enhancing student engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. The study aimed to improve mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of 2D shapes through the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design was employed, conducted over two cycles, each comprising the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The study took place in the fourth-grade class at UPT SD Negeri Latsari Tuban. Implementation occurred in two cycles: Cycle I on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and Cycle II on Friday, April 24, 2026. The results indicate that the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model successfully improved student learning outcomes. In Cycle I, the percentage of students achieving mastery was 64.29%, while 35.71% did not achieve mastery. In Cycle II, the percentage of students achieving mastery rose to 92.86%, while 7.14% did not achieve mastery. The percentage of learning mastery increased by 28.57%. These findings demonstrate that the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model is effective in improving mathematics learning outcomes regarding 2D shapes by fostering collaborative, competitive, and enjoyable learning activities.

Abstract

This course has long been considered by students to be quite intimidating. This is because the material is mostly calculation-based. For students with low quantitative abilities, this course becomes uninteresting. As a result, student learning outcomes in this course are low. Based on the results of the analysis of student answer patterns, it is clear that most students are able to answer theoretical questions. However, for applied questions, most students are unable to answer correctly. This indicates that student abilities are still at a purely theoretical level, while students' ability to apply the theoretical concepts they receive is still lacking. Data collection techniques used in this study were documentation, tests, and observations. This study is a classroom action research by exploring problems that occur in students' classes and then identifying these problems to find the main problems in learning. After the main problems in learning are identified, the appropriate method or approach is determined to overcome these problems. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in Engineering Physics courses can improve student learning outcomes. This improvement is evident in the increase in students' average grades in each learning cycle and the increase in the percentage of learning completion. In addition, student learning activities have also increased, as indicated by student activity in discussions, expressing opinions, and students' ability to solve problems related to Engineering Physics material.
