Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a leading cause of death, with the majority of symptoms such as cough, dyspnea, and sputum production causing increased airway resistance. Breathing exercises are an important part of the pulmonary rehabilitation program, including box breathing. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of box breathing on breathing frequency and oxygen saturation in patients with COPD at Idaman Banjarbaru Hospital. Method: research design Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample of this study was 20 respondents divided into 2 groups, namely the first group was the intervention group which was given Box Breathing treatment for 3 consecutive days with a duration of 15 minutes a day and the second group was the control group which only received therapy according to what was given by the hospital with purposive sampling. The research instrument was an observation sheet-bivariate data analysis using a Paired t-test and an Independent t-test. Results: There is a significant difference in the intervention group with the control group after being given box breathing on breathing frequency with an effectiveness value of 99.17%, but there is no significant difference in the intervention group with the control group after being given box breathing on oxygen saturation. It is recommended that the intervention of giving box breathing be used as one of the nursing interventions in patients with COPD as a management action for complaints of tightness.

Abstract

Trichoepithelioma is a rare benign tumor of the skin adnexa, of the pilosebaceous unit, especially of the hair follicle. This tumor is characterized by the appearance of lesions in the form of papules or nodules that are the color of the skin, with a size of 2-8 mm which can have solitary or multiple distribution. Trichoepithelioma has a psychosocial impact for sufferers, because trichoepithelioma lesions are often found on the face so that many sufferers feel embarrassed. This study is a retrospective descriptive study with a cross-sectional design that aims to determine the profile of trichoepithelioma based on age, gender, clinical picture, predilection site, duration before therapy, histopathological examination, treatment modality, and recurrence after therapy. From the 15 samples studied, it was found that the age group 11-19 years was the age group with the most trichoepithelioma patients (66.7%) with the highest gender being female (66.7%). All patients had clinical features of multiple trichoepithelioma (100%) with the greatest predilection for the nose (34.1%). Most of the patients had the same family history as the patient (66.7%). The duration of most patients 6 years (53.3%). Most of the patients did not perform histopathological examination (53.3%). The modality of therapy given to all patients was electrocautery with curettage (100%). Most of the patients did not follow up again regarding their recurrence (60%). Meanwhile, the most patients who did follow-up related to recurrence were <1 year (33.3%).

Abstract

The anxiety experienced by the elderly in Indonesia is very high. The causes of anxiety in the elderly usually include physical changes, degenerative and chronic diseases, loneliness, fear of losing freedom, fear of facing death. Some nursing management to reduce anxiety levels can be treated with pharmacological therapy such as anti-anxiety drugs (Anxiolytics) and non-pharmacological therapy such as spiritual therapy and relaxation therapy. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to relieve anxiety is to carry out dhikr therapy using dhikr readings (remembering Allah). The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of implementing dhikr therapy to reduce anxiety levels in the elderly at Wisma Wukiratawu. Method: The research design used by researchers is a case study. Data collection in this research was carried out through interviews and observations. The research subjects were 10 elderly people at the Tresna Werdha Abiyoso Social Home. The research was conducted at the Tresna Werdha Abiyoso Social Home in May 2024. The instrument used was the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. Results: From the pretest, the respondent's anxiety level was measured before the therapeutic intervention was carried out. Subjects were asked to fill out an anxiety scale that had been created by the researcher. Of the 10 subjects who were respondents in this study, 7 of them had moderate to severe levels of anxiety. In the posttest, the level of anxiety is measured again after the intervention is carried out. The aim of measuring anxiety levels after intervention is to determine the extent of development that has occurred after therapy. After the therapy was implemented, the majority of respondents' anxiety levels were in the mild and no anxiety category. Conclusion: Subject 10 people felt more calm and grew in self-confidence, were more enthusiastic and had more positive thoughts about themselves and others. No longer feel excessive anxiety.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a significant global health problem, with the number of cases and deaths rising every year. Patients with cervical cancer often experience symptoms such as bleeding, vaginal discharge, and pain, which significantly affect their quality of life. The aim of this study to conduct a comprehensive assessment, including physical, psychological, and social aspects, in managing patients with cervical cancer cannot be ignored. In patient management, in-depth evaluation of physiological factors such as bleeding, hydronephrosis, and electrolyte imbalance, as well as psychological and social factors, is essential to reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality. Nursing theories, such as Theory of Unpleasant Symptoms (TOUS) and Roy's Adaptation Model, can be used to conduct a comprehensive assessment and provide optimal care to cervical cancer patients. Social support also plays an important role in helping patients and their families adapt to the changes faced due to this disease. With a holistic and collaborative approach, it is hoped that morbidity and mortality rates for cervical cancer patients can be reduced both globally and in Indonesia.

Abstract

One of the causes of maternal death is uncontrolled complications of severe hypertension. In preeclampsia, the risk to the fetus is very high, such as delayed intrauterine growth, prematurity and intrauterine death. Signs and symptoms of severe preeclampsia should be used as an "alarm" by pregnant women with severe preeclampsia to prevent eclampsia. The aim of monitoring symptoms in severe preeclampsia is to avoid unwanted maternal or fetal complications. Case Mrs. M. age 33 G3P1A1 gravida 31 weeks 0 days, Patient is known to have had high blood pressure since 7.5 months of pregnancy, history of eclampsia, BP 153/105 mmHg, Potassium (2.2), Calcium ion 4.52. Based on this study case, the patient experienced hypokalemia and hypocalcemia, the concept of Orem self-care theory can be applied in identifying or assessing cases of severe preeclampsia in monitoring signs and symptoms of severe preeclampsia by recognizing the signs and symptoms. Orem's self-care theory makes individuals responsible for their own care which is part of awareness of the importance of maintaining the health of themselves and the fetus in their womb. Based on symptoms, patients can use assessment with a self-care approach to prevent eclampsia and HELLP syndrome.

Abstract

Adaptation is a process of self-adjustment. Students' inability to adapt can cause mental health problems, especially among out-of-town students. Based on the initial survey conducted by researchers on 33 respondents, the results showed that most respondents had difficulty adapting, were disappointed with the new environment because they were far from their parents, had language and cultural differences, and had trouble finding friends with the same frequency, task demands, and different learning processes. Objective: This research aims to determine the corellation between adaptation and the mental health of first-year out-of-town students. Method: This quantitative research uses an analytical correlation design with a cross-sectional method. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 198 first-year out-of-town students. The research instrument used the SACQ (Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire) questionnaire for adaptation and the DASS (Depression Anxiety Stress Scale) as a mental health measuring tool. Researchers used univariate and bivariate analyses using the Spearman-Rho test. Results: The research shows a significant corellation between adaptation and the mental health of out-of-town students, with r = 0.488. Conclusions: Several factors, including age, gender, region, and ethnic origin, can influence the correlation between adaptation and mental health. Future researchers can develop this research by examining other variables or factors that influence student adaptation, mental health, and the coping strategies students use in their studies.
