Abstract

Caring is the core of nursing practice, reflecting a nurse's approach to expressing genuine concern for the patient. Caring behavior of nurses is a form of caretaking that facilitates patients to achieve an optimal improvement in the quality of their recovery and health. Caring is driven by the self-confidence and work motivation of an individual nurse. This study aims to explore the correlation between nurses' self-efficacy, work motivation, and the caring behavior at Military Hospital in South Jakarta. This study used a cross-sectional design to explore the relationship between the variables of self-efficacy, motivation, and caring behavior. The study population included nursing staff from both inpatient and outpatient units. A total sample size was 122 nurses and was collected through a e-questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and bivariate correlation analysis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between self-efficacy (p value 0.001, R = 0.295) and work motivation (p value 0.012, R = 0.236) with nurses' caring behavior. The correlation coefficient showed that both self-efficacy and work motivation had a positive correlation with nurses' caring behavior. Self-efficacy and work motivation significantly influence nurses’ caring behavior, highlighting the need for interventions to enhance these factors among nursing staff to improve patient care.

Abstract

Clinical practice in hospitals is an essential part of nursing education, where students apply the nursing theory they have learned in college. Nurses are among the most crucial professionals in providing services in hospitals. The existing phenomenon shows that there are still many patient complaints about unsatisfactory service quality. Purpose: To analyze the effect of the CEKAT BAIK Lecture Program in the application of Islamic services among hospitalized patientsMethod: A pre-experimental research method with a one-shot case study design. The study population was 100 hospitalized patients, and the sample amounted to 98 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire that underwent construct validity testing using Pearson’s product-moment correlation and content validity testing in collaboration with experts in religion, nursing, and language, as well as reliability testing in the inpatient ward of a private hospital. The data analysis technique uses One-Way ANOVA. Results: The calculated F value of 35.86 and the F table value is 3.091, so the calculated F value <F table (35.86 <3.091) means that there is a good linear effect on Islamic services. Conclusion: It is anticipated that implementing an Islamic service model as an alternative for patient care and nursing will be guided by Islamic principles, incorporating holistic approaches through sociocultural and spiritual services.

Abstract

Perceptors need to be proficient in clinical teaching and assessment in reaching learning objectives while handling client caseload and delivering safe and efficient care. However, evidence to inform best practices for mentor development is limited, as is evidence regarding the efficacy of programs for the mentor role. This study aims to analyse interventions to improve preceptor performance on nursing student competencies. Methods: This study employs a systematic review, with study literature gathered from multiple electronic databases, including Pubmed, Science Direct, ProQuest, and SAGE using a PRISMA flow guidline. Data was collected by searching for research for 2019-2024 and searches were conducted until March 4, 2024. The keywords used are "Intervention" "Improve" "Preceptor" "Student Nursing Performance". Eligible studies require the use of quasi-experiments to identify interventions to improve preceptor performance in the competence of nursing students in different data base sources. Results: A total of 12 articles were analyzed because they provide information about interventions to improve preceptor performance in the competence of nursing students. Five articles on Randomized Controlled Trials, 7 articles using Quasi-experimental design. This article recommends an intervention clinical teaching on One Minute Preceptor because it is effective and can be used in a limited time. Conclusions: Overall, research shows that nursing education should improve recent graduates' readiness to achieve competence. Nurse educators should facilitate comprehensive assistance in order to enable students to acclimatise to the nursing profession’s culture before beginning their clinical education.
