Abstract

Edible bird's nest (EBN) or swiftlet's nest has recently been used extensively in regenerative medicine. This study aims to give a more thorough overview on the efficacy of EBN as a wound-healing agent. Method: We searched literature through several databases: Google Scholar, PubMed, Proquest, JSTOR, EBSCOhost, and SAGE. The keywords used were "bird nest, scar, wound healing" and their synonyms. The inclusion criteria were original articles written in English and assessed the effects of EBN in the wound healing process. We found 9 in vitro studies and 4 in vivo studies reporting wound healing effect of EBN, both macroscopically and microscopically. EBN could increase wound healing process through several mechanisms, such as cell proliferation, anti-oxidants, anti-inflammation, increased collagen synthesis, and tissue hydration. EBN has the potential to be used as a natural bioactive agent to increase the wound healing process.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major cause and risk factor for death worldwide. Nonpharmacological therapy of hypertension to reduce blood pressure of hypertensive patients, one of which is marjoram aromatherapy and deep breathing techniques that have proven effective in hypertensive patients. Objective: The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of marjoram aromatherapy and deep breathing techniques on blood pressure of hypertensive patients. Methods: This type of research is a quasy experiment with a one group pretest-postest design without control group approach, the number of samples was 20 respondents using total sampling. The data collection technique used is observation through blood pressure measurement. Hypothesis analysis is normality test, One Way Repeated Measurement (ANOVA), and multiple linear regression. Results: There is an effect of marjoram aromatherapy and deep breathing techniques on blood pressure of hypertensive patients (p-value <0.05). Conclusion: There is an effect of marjoram aromatherapy and deep breathing techniques on the blood pressure of hypertensive patients. Marjoram aromatherapy interventions and deep breathing techniques can be socialized in hospitals and can be done independently at home to reduce blood pressure in people with hypertension.

Abstract

Australasian Triage Scale (ATS) is a tool used by emergency department nurses to assess a patient's health status and prioritise services based on the severity of the patient's condition. Clinical Reasoning skills are cognitive processes in the form of theoretical applications and clinical abilities of a nurse in evaluating, diagnosing, and providing nursing care for patients based on information and condition. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using learning tools by using media Disc Triage Assessment to improve clinical reasoning skills using ATS triage. Method: The research method used was quasi-experimental without control group design. A total of 193 nursing diploma students who passed the Emergency Nursing course were selected using purposive sampling. Therefore, the sample is 35 students. Data analysis was performed using Wilcoxon test. Result: The results were significant improvements across five domains of Nurses Clinical Reasoning Skills (NCRS): Assessment, Diagnosis, Intervention, Implementation, and Evaluation, all with p-values < 0.05. Conclusions: This has a significant positive effect on improving students' clinical reasoning skills in determining triage ATS. This shows can be effective in improving the ability of students to determine triage levels and make informed clinical decisions.

Abstract

Career ladder systems are an important mechanism in supporting the professional development of nurses and have been implemented in various models in a number of countries. Effective management support is critical to the successful implementation of career ladder systems in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the description of management support in the implementation of career ladder system in Local Government Hospitals. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design conducted in May-June 2024. The study population was all nurses who applied for competency assessment and credentialing/recredentialing as many as 76 people who also became samples with total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including frequency distribution and percentage. These questionnaires have undergone validity and reliability testing, with Cronbach's alpha values of 0.905 for the Management Support Questionnaire and 0.927 for the Nursing Career Path Questionnaire. The results showed that the majority of executive nurses were female (92%) with vocational education (84%) and were in early adulthood (26-35 years old). Most of them had between 8 to 15 years of service and almost half of them were at the Pre PK level (43%). Management support in implementing career ladders was mostly categorized as good (54%). This study concludes that management support in the implementation of the career ladder system in Local Government Hospitals is mostly good, but there are still some aspects that need to be improved. Optimal management support includes the provision of adequate resources, structured training programs, and continuous feedback to ensure the successful implementation of the career ladder system.

Abstract

A common problem among ex-drug users is relapse. Addiction in former drug users can be caused by self efficacy factors. This study aims to get a clear picture of the factors that influence the self-efficacy of former drug addicts to stop using drugs. Methods: Researchers used the scoping review method. The literature search was conducted using the search keywords "self efficacy" AND "relapse" OR "abstinence" AND "drugs". The databases used were Sciencedirect, Scopus, and Pubmed. The inclusion criteria were articles reviewed from publications in the last 5 years (2019-2023), articles that were in English, quantitative and/or qualitative research with a study population of former drug addicts who experienced relapse, and the full article was accessible. Stepwise screening was conducted and documented according to the PRISMA flowchart. Results: based on identification, there are 212 articles from search engines from sciencedirect, scopus, and pubmed. The final results obtained are 6 articles that match the criteria after going through the selection process. Self efficacy has many factors that can affect it such as negative emotions, apathy, shame and guilt, psychological, and delay factors predicting recurrence, as well as age. The researcher used the PEO (population, exposure, outcome) question format to find related research articles. Based on the analysis of 6 literatures, it can be concluded that former drug addicts have more serious challenges to stop using drugs.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a long-term metabolic disorder caused by insulin function insufficiency, with many etiologies characterized by hyperglycemia accompanied by problems with carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism. More than 90% of DM patients experience neuropathy complications and 50% experience peripheral neuropathy. DM patients with peripheral neuropathy experience decreased peripheral nerve perfusion so that neurovascular care is needed. Objective: This study was conducted to provide an overview of neurovascular care in improving peripheral perfusion in DM patients. Method: This study used a descriptive case study design using the nursing process. This study focuses on improving peripheral perfusion in DM patients with Neurovascular Care interventions to 2 respondens. The intervention carried out on two respondents according to the evidence base was foot exercises with diaball, foot spa, and ROM for 3 x 8 hours. The research instrument used is The Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument (MNSI) in assessing the complications of peripheral neuropathy which focuses on data on decreased peripheral perfusion and monofilaments to measure foot sensitivity. Results: Nursing activities start from assessing the patient's circulation needs and continue to data analysis. The data analyzed showed that >80% of the major and minor data listed in the guidelines for raising nursing diagnoses, namely the Indonesia Nursing Diagnose Standards (SDKI). From the data obtained, the diagnosis that can be raised is that peripheral perfusion nursing is ineffective with peripheral perfusion nursing outcomes with increased expectations. On the last day of the nursing evaluation, there was an increase in peripheral perfusion from a decreasing level to a moderate level in the respondents. Conclusions: Neurovascular Treatment can be applied to improve peripheral perfusion in DM patients.
