Abstract

Microplastics are plastic waste in the environment which, over a long period of time, will decompose into micro particles or smaller sizes. Microplastics have various types of shapes, sizes and colors which are influenced by various factors. Over time, microplastics in river waters will pollute the biota in the river. Humans who consume microplastics indirectly by consuming fish from rivers that have been polluted with microplastics have the potential to cause side effects. This research aims to identify microplastics in fish biota in the waters of the Musi River in Banyuasin Regency. This research is descriptive analytical in nature with a sampling technique, namely random sampling, namely the technique of taking fish at random. The sample research went through several stages, namely sample preparation, digestion, filtration and research with a trinocular microscope. Abstract

Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera), a valuable source of bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, phenolic acids, tannin, and terpenoids. These compounds provide significant benefits to the skin, due to their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. The chemical composition of these leaves has been demonstrated to enhance dermal hydration and provide protection against environmental stressors. By balancing Moringa with other natural ingredients such as coconut, olive, and palm oil, the efficacy of skincare formulation can be optimized, resulting in improved texture, stability, and consumer appeal. This research aims to optimize the soap's effectiveness by enhancing its properties, such as cleansing, moisturizing, and antimicrobial functions, using the unique characteristics of Moringa oleifera. The initial step involved of an ethanol extract of Moringa leaves, which was then subjected to analysis using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The analysis revealed that Moringa leaves contain eight key compounds, including 2.4(1H,3H)-pyrimidineodione, glycerol, 2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl-, 4,3-allyl-6-methoxyphenol, epoxylinalool, 1H-pyrrole, 2-(2,4,6-heptatrienyl), tetradecanoics acid, and hexadecanoic acid. The aforementioned compounds were used to formulate a soap base containing Moringa leaves. The resulting soap exhibit a pleasant fragrance, a dense texture, yellow slightly white in color, and a pH of 10, as confirmed by organoleptic and pH test. The recent focus resulting in the development of Moringa-based skincare product that are not only effective but also eco-friendly. Abstract

Neuropathy is a common chronic complication in people with diabetes. Neuropathy refers to diseases that affect various types of nerves, including sensory, motor, and autonomic nerves. Diminished foot sensitivity and structural abnormalities may impede the patient's ability to perceive foot injuries, increasing the risk of more serious complications. Foot exercise is an effective method for people with diabetes mellitus to prevent injury and improve blood circulation in the feet. It improves blood circulation, strengthens the small muscles of the foot, and prevents foot deformities. This study aimed to determine the effect of diabetic foot exercises on foot sensitivity and motor deformity in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with neuropathy. Method:This study employed a quantitative method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with 35 respondents based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data were collected through interviews and assessment of sensitivity and foot deformity. Sensitivity was measured using a 10-gram Monofilament Test, while foot deformities were evaluated with a deformity observation sheet. The statistical analysis test revealed that right foot sensitivity obtained a p-value = 0.001 (<0.05) and left foot sensitivity had a p-value = 0.013 (<0.05). The foot deformity signified p-value = 1.000 (>0.05). Diabetic foot exercise has a significant effect on foot sensitivity.
