Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a public health problem with high morbidity and mortality rates worldwide. DM is predicted to increase in 2030 by 643 million people and in 2045 by 783 million people. Diabetes is characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels, with frequent micturition and excessive thirst at night which makes diabetics experience sleep disturbances and has an impact on the quality of sleep of diabetics. Objectives: to determine the relationship of blood glucose levels to the quality of sleep of patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods: Quantitative research using a correlational design with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples in this study was 64 people. The research instrument used a questionnaire and a blood sugar level checker as a screening of current blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. Data analysis using the spearman rank test. Results: The majority of respondents were female with an age range of 51-60 years and had high blood glucose levels >200mg/dL by 89.1%, and poor sleep quality by 67.2%. In this study there was a significant relationship between blood glucose levels and sleep quality with a value of ρ value = 0.0001 (<0.05). Conclusion: Symptoms of diabetes mellitus due to increased blood glucose levels can worsen the quality of sleep of people with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients often do not understand a balanced diet. This lack of knowledge has an impact on the high blood sugar of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study aims to analyze the relationship between dietary knowledge and blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and applied the total sampling method, involving 40 respondents who were patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Kartasura Health Center. This study was conducted in December 2024-January 2025. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to respondents who conducted examinations at the Kartasura Health Center Prolanis Clinic. Pearson test was used for data analysis because the data distribution was normal. The results of the Pearson statistical test on type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Kartasura Health Center showed a p-value = 0.001. The results revealed a relationship between dietary knowledge and blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Kartasura Community Health Center. Researchers suggest exploring other variables that affect blood sugar levels, such as physical activity, and diet. Qualitative research methods can also be used to investigate patients taking routine medication and the influence of the surrounding environment, allowing for more generalized findings.

Abstract

Anemia is a significant global health issue, especially among adolescent girls, caused by insufficient iron intake needed for hemoglobin synthesis. This study aims to explore the impact of ePuskesmas-based detection methods and website-based EDUMA on knowledge and adherence to iron tablet consumption among adolescent girls in Indonesia, as an effort to reduce the prevalence of anemia. Method: This study employs a literature review methodology by searching scientific articles through Google Scholar, Proquest, and PubMed platforms. Inclusion criteria encompass quantitative and qualitative articles published between 2019-2024, focusing on the use of ePuskesmas and EDUMA to enhance knowledge and adherence to iron tablet consumption among adolescent girls. Results: Initial identification yielded 622 potential articles, from which 18 articles were selected after inclusion and exclusion criteria. These articles indicate that technology-based approaches, such as Android applications, web platforms, and adherence monitoring systems, are effective in improving knowledge and adherence of adolescent girls to iron tablet consumption. Conclusion: These findings affirm that the integration of information technology in healthcare systems, such as ePuskesmas and website-based EDUMA, can be an effective strategy to enhance understanding and adherence of adolescent girls to iron tablet consumption to address anemia.

Abstract

Anemia is a significant health issue among adolescent girls, often caused by iron deficiency. Compliance in consuming Iron Tablets (Tablet Tambah Darah, TTD) is crucial to address this condition. This study aims to systematically review the influence of WhatsApp, teacher support, and attitudes of adolescent girls on TTD compliance. The method used is a systematic review with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) approach. A search conducted on journals indexed by SINTA and Scopus resulted in a total of 860 journals using the keywords anemia, iron supplement compliance, adolescents, technology WhatsApp, teacher support, and attitudes. Of these, 15 journals met the inclusion criteria and were further analyzed. The results of the study indicate that the use of WhatsApp can enhance awareness and knowledge of adolescent girls about the importance of consuming TTD, although the outcomes vary. Teacher support has also been shown to play an important role in improving compliance, as teachers can provide the necessary encouragement and supervision. Positive attitudes of adolescent girls towards TTD consumption significantly contribute to compliance. In conclusion, the combination of communication technology, teacher support, and fostering positive attitudes can enhance TTD compliance among adolescent girls. This multidimensional approach can be an effective strategy to reduce the prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls.

Data were gathered from a sample of patients within a specified period and analyzed descriptively. The findings indicate the highest satisfaction levels in the empathy dimension (74.6%) and reliability (66%), while the assurance dimension had the lowest satisfaction level (58.33%). Certain aspects, including waiting times and physical facilities, require improvement to enhance service quality. The conclusion highlights the need for improved medical facilities and better time management to ensure higher patient satisfaction levels.
