Parents of thalassemia adolescents are the ones who care for and are always involved in the process of caring for their children, this condition can affect the quality of life. This study aims to identify the relationship between the quality of life of adolescents with thalassemia major and the quality of life of parents at RSUD Dr Slamet Garut. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique was consecutive sampling. Respondents of this study were 64 adolescents with thalassemia major and parents. Data collection was carried out at the time before the patient had a blood transfusion using the TranQol questionnaire and WHOQOL-BREF. TranQol to measure the quality of life of adolescents that has been tested for validity and reliability with a value of r=0,112-0,743 and α=0,806. WHOQOL-BREF to measure the quality of life of parents that has been testet for validity and reliability with a value of r=0,5-0,7 and α=0,41-0,77. The data analysis used was univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the spearman rank correlation test. The results of this study found that the quality of life of adolescents with thalassemia major at RSUD Dr. Slamet Garut as many as 53 respondents (82.8%) was good, as many as 11 respondents (17.2%) was bad. While the quality of life of parents as many as 61 respondents (95.3%) is good, as many as 3 respondents (4.7%) was bad. Based on the results of the spearman rank test, the results obtained p=0.001 (p<0.05) which means that there is a significant relationship between the quality of life of adolescents with thalassemia major and the quality of life of parents. So it can be concluded that the better the quality of life of adolescents with thalassemia major, the better the quality of life of parents.

Abstract

Yellow pumpkin has a very high fiber content. Fiber is very good when used in making a soft diet in maintaining health and can launch metabolism The use of yellow pumpkin as flour in making steamed sponges has not been done much research on its nutritional value and advantages. Yellow pumpkin can be processed into free gluteen flour so that it is safe for consumption by the public, facilitates storage and can increase selling value. One bakery product that allows to add or replace some of the flour is steamed sponge. With the creation of the innovation of steamed sponges, yellow pumpkin flour is expected to be a healthy snack high in fiber. This study aims to obtain organoleptic test results and fiber content from steamed sponges made from yellow pumpkin flour. The method used was a true experiment with the Posttest Only Control Group design, which was then analyzed descriptively. This research consists of three stages, namely product development, product acceptance testing by panelists, and fiber content testing at the Organic Chemistry laboratory of FMIPA University of North Sumatra. The results of organoleptic tests obtained a very liking level for color by 48.0%, very liking for aroma by 36.0%, liking texture by 44.0% and a very liking level for taste by 36.0%. The results of the fiber content test were obtained at 55.14% from the mass of 33.58 grams of steamed sponge yellow pumpkin flour. The conclusion that based on the overall results of organoleptic tests of steamed sponge yellow pumpkin flour can be accepted by the public in terms of color, aroma, texture, and taste.

Abstract

Death marks the conclusion of the disease trajectory. Prevention of fatality in patients facing acute and chronic diseases requires the competence of reliable health workers, with nurses playing a crucial role in delivering proficient care. Aiming for early detection of patients' clinical deterioration, nurses use an early warning system. Objective: to determine the effectiveness of EWS training in-tray method on knowledge and practice of EWS. We conducted a quasi-experimental study using one group pretest-posttest without a control group. The sample of this study was 70 executive nurses with consecutive sampling techniques. The research was held at the Inpatient Installation of Sulianti Saroso Infectious Disease Hospital (SSIDH) in June 2023. Observation sheets were utilized to assess Early Warning System (EWS) practices, and we employed valid and reliable questionnaires to gather information on respondents' knowledge. We performed univariate analysis using frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Most respondents were in the late adult category (52.9%), female (80.0%), graduate Diploma III in nursing education (54.3%), and the most working period of 5 years (78.6%). The knowledge of participants increased significantly from 7.00 (2.00-13.00) (pretest) to 11.50 (5.00-20.00) (posttest) (p-value = 0.000). There was an increase in nurses' EWS knowledge and practice (p-value <0.05). Efforts to improve nurse competence in caring for patients with critical conditions are necessary. This can be achieved through coaching and regular training with the priority target of implementing nurses in the intensive care room.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of workload on the labor productivity of oil palm harvesters. The research method used quantitative research with Cross Sectional design and data analysis on univariate tests using frequency distribution tables and Paired tests on pulse samples with sig. < 0.05 values. A sample of 48 respondents who were oil palm harvesters at PT. Merbaujaya Indahraya, Aek Kuo District, using total sampling. The measurements in this questionnaire use the Likert scale, and check the pulse on the arteries in the respondent's wrist, and see the results of the achievements obtained by the respondent. The results showed that the workload had a positive and significant effect on the work productivity of oil palm harvesters at PT Merbaujaya Indahraya, Aek Kuo District, with a significance value (sig) of 0.000 < 0.05. This study came to the conclusion that the work productivity of oil palm harvesters at PT Merbaujaya Indahraya is in the good category, but there must be improvements to increase the work productivity of oil palm harvesters to remain stable and increase for the success of a company.

The results of the analysis showed that there was a relationship between age and work fatigue (p-value = 0.000) r = 0.607, there was a relationship between length of service and work fatigue (p-value 0.000) r = 0.526, there was a relationship between length of work and work fatigue (p-value 0.010) r = 0.078, there is a relationship between workload and work fatigue (p-value 0.012) r = 0.647, there is no relationship between nutritional status and work fatigue (p-value 0.353) r = 0.049. This research concludes that there is a relationship between age, length of service, length of work, and workload on work fatigue, there is no relationship between nutritional status and work fatigue in oil palm farmers. Advice for workers is that they should pay attention to their health while working to avoid work fatigue which could pose a risk of work accidents.

Abstract

Nutritional problems in toddlers are still a major problem in the population order, one of which is stunting which is still a major nutritional problem in developing countries such as Indonesia and even still a serious global problem. The purpose of the study was to determine the factors causing stunting in toddlers in the working area of the Puskesmas Terjun, Medan Marelan District. This study used analytical survey research using a case-control design. The population of cases is mothers who have toddlers <5 years old who are stunted in the working area of the Puskesmas Waterfall Medan Marelan District, which has 23 stunting cases. Sampling is done by total sampling technique. Case and control samples were taken based on a ratio of 1: 2 with a total sample of 69 respondents. The results showed that there was a relationship between birth length (p-value 0.000), exclusive breastfeeding (p-value 0.000), maternal height (p-value 0.000), and maternal education (p-value 0.001) on the incidence of stunting. There was no relationship between birth weight (p-value 0.081) and birth distance (p-value 0.085) with the incidence of stunting in toddlers. This study concludes that there is a relationship between birth length, exclusive breastfeeding, maternal height, and maternal education with the incidence of stunting in the work area of the Puskesmas Waterfall, Medan Maryland District. It is recommended that researchers conduct further research by adding direct causal variables to enrich information about the factors that cause stunting in toddlers.
