The bad news seemed to have become a daily dish in a variety of Indonesian media today. Meanwhile, positive news and impressive achievements of Indonesia are often masked, or only displayed in a tiny part of the whole story. Furthermore, the effects may have an impact on the sense of nationhood. The matters about a country are reflecting on how the media plays the role as news platform in creating the values of nationalism in the content. This essay examines the roles of Good News From Indonesia (GNFI) news platform and social media movement in Indonesia in helping to engender a sense of nationhood. This research uses qualitative methods, including media observation, in-depth interview, and also completed with literature review to acquire data to support the analysis. The essay focuses on three primary roles of GNFI, which are fulfilling the needs of useful information, restoring the optimism of Indonesia, and rebuilding confidence and citizen’s optimism.

Abstract

At SMKN 49, Marunda, digital literacy activities are carried out to fulfill school assignments. Assignments must be uploaded to social media, one of which is Instagram, and must be tagged by the teacher so that the teacher can see and assess the assignment. According to data from the 2016 Most Littered Nation in The World study, interest in reading in Indonesia is very low. Now that the digital world is growing rapidly, all information is comprehensive by accessing it on gadgets. People are increasingly not interested in print media, as well as with high school students, where teenagers are very enthusiastic about using the internet. This study uses Eschet Alkalai's theory regarding 5 digital literacy skills and analysis of media literacy programs, namely, the dimensions of motivation, knowledge and skills. Using a qualitative case study methodology with a constructivist paradigm. The results of this study are that the new media literacy activities carried out by SMKN 49 are quite good by using social media as a medium for literacy. Giving assignments that 'force' students to read from the internet, which can trigger students to read and search for information from the internet and increase studentcreativity

Abstract

This article discusses the dialectical communication model between structure and agency in realizing the conversion of Bank Nagari from Conventional Bank to Bank Nagari Syariah. It employs a qualitative research method through interviews and informant triangulation. Communication plays a crucial role in achieving the conversion of Bank Nagari from a conventional model to a Sharia model. The Governor has the opportunity to communicate explicitly and implicitly with regional heads in implementing the conversion process. The dynamics of the relationship between structure and agency also influence different communication patterns depending on specific situations and conditions. The lack of understanding regarding the significance of converting Bank Nagari into a Sharia bank is related to cultural elements, values, beliefs, and individual interests, leading to diverse perspectives. Marsh and Smith's theory emphasizes that the interaction between structure and agency should be seen as entities with variations in terms of culture, values, beliefs, attitudes, behaviours, and interests. The conclusion of this article is the presence of implicit and explicit communication in the conversion of Bank Nagari, the role of Datuk as an opinion leader, and OJK communication with the Governor.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed the business structure of the music industry. The presence of social media and music streaming services adds to the size of the music industry itself, starting from the intersection of various actors (music labels, artists/musicians, music streaming service applications, music consumers), interests (business and state regulations), to power (distribution networks), especially in the perspective of the political economy of communication. In the context of this research, the object of research is the independent music label Sun Eater. This study uses a qualitative research method with an intrinsic case study approach. In line with that the data collection used is observation, in-depth interviews and documentation studies. The results of this study indicate that the content commodification carried out by Sun Eater as a music label is not focused on the music itself. But it wraps up the issues of today's youth and makes them like lyrics, pictures and videos. In audience commodification, Sun Eater does not put the audience as mere music fans. However, with a consumer-centric and data driven approach, Sun Eater treats their audience (music fans) like mass media, by “selling” back on advertisers on various digital platforms. Finally, the Commodification of Workers, that musicians are not just music workers. Moreover, Sun Eater places musicians as workers who have other responsibilities, ranging from filming digital content, interacting with fans on social media, to photo shoots with advertisers.

Abstract

This study delves into the nuanced intersection between morality and populism in West Sumatra, specifically examining the emergence of Islamic populism post-Reform. In contrast to prevailing studies that predominantly scrutinize economic inequality and immigration within populist discourse, this research delves into the lesser-explored realm of moral and religious dimensions.
