Abstract

Literacy is an essential competency in responding to rapid technological advancements. Mathematical literacy enables students to understand, analyze, and apply mathematical concepts in various real-life contexts. This community service program aimed to strengthen students’ mathematical literacy through computational thinking assistance implemented in a study camp format. The activity adopted a Community-Based Research (CBR) model consisting of four stages: laying the foundation, planning, information gathering and analysis, and acting on findings. The study camp was conducted in a laboratory setting, beginning with the introduction of basic programming concepts and continuing with computational thinking exercises integrated into mathematical literacy problems. This approach is expected to foster students’ critical thinking skills and enhance their mathematical competencies through interactive and technology-based learning experiences.

Abstract

School committees play a strategic role in community-based educational governance. However, many school committees still lack a comprehensive understanding of their roles, functions, and mechanisms for building partnerships with schools and the wider community. This community service program aimed to empower school committee members through training in institutional management and school-community partnership strategies. The activity was conducted at SD Negeri Jatingaleh 01 in Semarang City, representing the Candisari District area. The approach employed was Participatory Action Learning (PAL) and Capacity Building, comprising several stages: needs assessment, training, assistance in preparing annual work plans, and the formation of a school-community partnership forum. The results showed a significant improvement in the understanding and skills of school committee members, the successful development of annual work programs, and the implementation of collaborative school-community initiatives. This intervention aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The program is recommended for replication in other school clusters with policy support from local governments)

Abstract

The coastal areas of Aceh Besar have high fisheries potential, but traditional fishermen using bagan boats in Gampong Lhok Layeun are facing declining catches due to technological limitations. The conventional lights used have limited light coverage and high fuel consumption. This service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of fishermen through education on energy-efficient underwater Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology as an alternative solution. The implementation method includes four stages: initial survey, socialisation, discussion, and evaluation and monitoring. The activity involved 25 participants consisting of fishermen, Panglima Laot, academics, and village officials. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding of underwater LED technology, with an average pre-test score of 57 increasing to 84 in the post-test. A total of 100% of participants expressed interest in adopting this technology, and showed high enthusiasm during the socialisation and discussion. This activity proves that participatory and educative approaches can strengthen traditional fisheries innovation at the local level.

Abstract

Excellent public service is a mandate of the Village Law No. 6 of 2014 to accelerate the achievement of general welfare in village communities. Standards of superior service that are transparent, accountable, effective, and efficient can be realized through the utilization of applications and information and communication technology (ICT), commonly referred to as e-government. The digital village program is one initiative to implement village information systems. This community service activity applied a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, fostering collaboration and enhancing stakeholders’ understanding of the importance of digital villages. The program was conducted by lecturers from UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi under the Kukerta Mandiri MBKM–Internship–Lecturer Community Service Conversion program, focusing on “Digital Village” in Simpang Sungai Duren Village, Jaluko District, Muaro Jambi Regency. As an initial implementation step, villages were assisted in activating and managing official websites with the desa.id domain, as well as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube accounts as channels for information and village profile video updates, serving as digital-based information and service media. The results indicate that, despite existing limitations, the potential for villages to evolve into digital villages remains vast and can be further developed toward greater progress.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide digital marketing training to traders mentored by the Trade Office of Salatiga, offer digital marketing assistance, and create a minimum of 3 digital marketing contents for 2 traders fostered by the Trade Office of Salatiga. This activity was carried out in 3 stages (training, socialization, and mentoring). Digital marketing training activities have been done for all traders fostered by the Salatiga Trade Office. The socialization of mentoring activities was carried out through WhatsApp chat, and then followed up by visiting traders who responded positively. The results of the mentoring successfully encouraged the SM Snacks owner to try digital marketing using Business WhatsApp, and the manager of the Ribs Corner food outlet wanted to try the boost feature on her Business Instagram. Community service activities also help complement SM's Business WhatsApp snack with product catalog features, Anyflip-based digital catalog, and promotional posters, as well as creating 2 video contents to be uploaded to the Ribs Corner business Instagram. Because the team in the mentoring process has developed two social medias, each with minimum of 2 contents for two traders, then it can be concluded that the team has achieved the objectives of the activity.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide education on the importance of attractive marketing content for improving the Yama Roti Depok West Java business. The results of identifying problems in the field found that Yama Roti still sells products in a simple way so that consumers are less interested in the bread and cake products being sold. Knowledge of social media as a promotional medium is also limited, which has an impact on Yama Roti's income. The community service program was carried out through site visits to the business location and implemented in the form of training, mentoring, and consultation on marketing content development. Through this activity, it is hoped that it can provide new insight and understanding to owners and employees about the importance of marketing content for product marketing. This activity can have a positive impact on increasing marketing of Yama Roti. Business owners and employees will gradually create more interesting and creative marketing content. However, this has not been done consistently so a lot of assistance is still needed so that the results of the extension activities can be carried out well.

Abstract

Grand Watu Dodol (GWD) is one of the major tourist destinations in Banyuwangi Regency and attracts a large number of visitors. Tourism activities in the GWD area are accompanied by various trading activities, which inevitably generate organic waste. This waste mainly consists of food residues from visitors, including fruit and vegetable scraps, leftover rice, and uneaten side dishes. At present, this waste is disposed of only at temporary waste disposal sites (TPS), resulting in environmental problems such as unpleasant odors and limited waste-handling capacity.Organic waste generated in the GWD area has considerable potential to be utilized as raw material for compost production and as a growing medium in aquaponic systems or BUDIKDAMBER (Fish Cultivation in Buckets). Leftover rice, fruits, and vegetables can be processed into compost with the assistance of maggot larvae, while root and stem residues can be used as planting media in aquaponic or BUDIKDAMBER systems. Composting not only produces organic fertilizer but also generates maggot larvae that can be utilized as poultry feed. In addition, aquaponic systems can produce vegetables and fish as by-products, which may contribute to nutritional fulfillment and provide additional income for local business actors operating in the Grand Watu Dodol tourist area.

Abstract

Efficient waste management becomes a key factor in reducing negative environmental impacts while improving the operational efficiency of livestock farming. This community service activity aims to enhance young livestock farmers' understanding and skills in Tani Bhakti Village, Loa Janan Subdistrict, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, in applying zero-waste, circular-economy principles in livestock waste management. This activity involved 20 young farmers from diverse backgrounds and genders. The activity included socialization, extension services, technical training, and direct demonstrations in processing livestock waste into value-added products, such as organic fertilizer and bioenergy. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involved farmers as active participants at every stage of the activity. Evaluation was conducted through pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure improvements in knowledge, as well as direct observation of the application of waste management techniques. The results showed that 90% of participants successfully improved their understanding of the circular economy, and 85% applied the acquired waste management techniques. The main constraints identified were limited technical understanding and access to technology. This community service activity successfully enhanced the operational sustainability of livestock farming and reduced environmental impacts.
