Abstract

Comics as a popular visual communication medium are potential to carry sensitive discourses flexibly and freely. The nature of comics that involves the reader in filling out messages, as well as forms of multimodal communication through images and texts also support that potention. Serious, sensitive, and critical topics, such as religion, are often found in comics. One of the actual comics with a critical religious theme is the comic by Aji Prasetyo. This journal will analyze critical religiousity discourse in Aji Prasetyo's comics through a multimodal approach. The analysis was using the analysis method by Kress and Van Leeuwen, with the help of McCloud's comic theory. The results show that the interweaving of signs in visual mode and verbal mode in comics is related to each other to form discourse. Signs in the visual mode in the form of icons play an important role as a representation of characters and ideas. While in verbal mode, the caption dominates the comic as a representation of the author's critical opinion. The interweaving of signs in this fashion hybridity constructs a critical discourse about the contradictions of religious expression between formalism and substantialism.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Ecoprint Girly Lestari is a small business that sells fashion and accessories products with ecoprint patterns. This MSME is one of the MSMEs that sells its products at the Surabaya Kriya Gallery. Established in 2019, Ecoprint Girly Lestari does not have a conceptual and consistent visual identity. It can be seen through the differences in logo usage in each media. This condition makes consumers difficult to recognize their products. Therefore, this study aims to describe the visual identity design process for Ecoprint Girly Lestari MSMEs. This research is qualitative with interview, observation, documentation, and literature study data collection techniques and uses the STP and the SWOT analysis methods. The result of visual identity design is a logo with a design concept that has been adapted to the uniqueness and target audience of MSMEs. The logo is applied to several media such as hang tags, clothing labels, paper sleeves, paper bags, business cards, neon box and stationary. There are also supporting media such as brochures and x-banners. Guidelines for logo usage are written in Graphic Standard Manual (GSM).

Abstract

In this digitalization era, people tend to use smartphones more and surf the internet in many activities. The internet also makes it very easy for people to do activities such as shopping, communicating and sharing information, one of which is by using chat applications and websites. Until now, the Covid-19 pandemic is still sweeping the world. The Indonesian government has also appealed to the public to always comply with health protocols when doing activities outside the home to minimize the increase in patients in Indonesia itself. Although many couples who are getting married still want to hold a wedding reception, they still have to limit guests to carry out health protocols. This online invitation application can be used for someone who wants to hold a celebration, such as a wedding, to distribute invitations at a lower cost. Only by using an online or digital invitation in the form of website information related to the event can be conveyed and disseminated more attractive, practical and innovatively. Application development follows the Waterfall paradigm, which designs, implements and tests the product in stages.

Abstract

The development of times and technology requires each individual to be able to do their activities more easily, practically and quickly. This phenomenon does not only affect people with normal physical condition, but it also affects people with disability. Therefore, there are many designs focusing on and orientating towards solution to facilitate people with disability do their daily activities, especially when they are in in public facilities. One of the most frequently visited public facilities is shopping center (traditional market, mini market and supermarket). The researcher found that people with disability, especially those with visual impairment find difficulties to do shopping independently. Based on this problem, the researcher offers solution by designing icons for product sold in the market and the focus was on the staple food products consumed every day. This was qualitative research with design thinking method. The results showed that icon design on staple food packages can help people with visual impairment to identify staple food products.

Abstract

This study describes the effectiveness of promotion through the film Aman Bos, a film that is shown in cinemas and YouTube. The aim is to promote Bank Sulselbar, the methodology by conducting case studies and literature studies to review this case. Using the scalpel of Kotler's theory with the 4 product mix marketing approach, price, promotion and place. The research results show that through the media YouTube for promotion is very effective in expanding audience reach, this promotional media is quite effective as a medium to attract consumers, as a conclusion from research describing the level of effectiveness of films for very effective promotional media.

Abstract

Abstract Animation Media has a very important role in improving the ability to read early in the 1st grade of SDI Wolomarang. This research aims to find out the extent to which an animation medium can be used and measure the development of reading skills in elementary class students. At an early age, students are more familiar with media that are visually more interesting and memorable than boring verbal presentations. This research uses quantitative research methods with data collection techniques including tests and observations, analyzed using the T-test test. From the results of the calculation of the T-test there is a calculation of 2,410 and t table with dk = 15 and a significant level = 0.05 is 1,753. it can be concluded that t calculate > ttabel (2,410>1,753) so that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. From these results, it can be seen that there is an influence on the use of animation media on the ability to read early in the 1st grade of Inpres Wolomarang Elementary School. Thus it can be concluded that the student's initial reading ability and first grade student learning outcomes changed in a better direction after using animation media in experimental classes.

Abstract

The development of social media has become a new axis in the process of marketing a product to the public, the ability of social media to gather millions of users attracts the attention of business people to do marketing for their products more easily, quickly and cheaply compared to conventional marketing media such as placing billboards or do television advertisements. Even though social media offers various conveniences for doing business, there are still many small business actors who have not used social media or have difficulty using it to promote their products, the unfamiliarity of using technology is a big obstacle for those who are not used to it. The design thinking method is used to really understand the problems in the field and plan solutions based on the most appropriate and easy to understand approach. The existence of a template that can be directly used by business actors encourages the desire to start carrying out promotions to increase their sales, even though using templates makes it easier for business actors to promote, more alternative templates is needed to avoid the potential for design similarities during promotions.

Abstract

Social media is a means to share information, communicate media, build networks and compete with other competitors through content on the Instagram platforms. The role of Social Media Specialists in companies such as PT Aseli Dagadu Djokdja is significant because it has an essential role in handling social media, starting from determining ideas, producing, and publishing content, to activation and collaboration. The work method used by Social Media specialists consists of four stages, namely pre-production (preparation), production (manufacture), post-production (finishing & distribution), and weekly report (data analysis). The data collection techniques are interviews, field observations with participation and non-participation observations, documentation, and literature studies. The project produced include: 'Earth Day 2022' posted on April 22, 2022, on collaborators' Instagram reels @dgdindonesia with @yogyatourium. Therefore, this study focuses on "Earth Day 2022" Content Production On Instagram Reels @dgdindonesia and @yogyatourium.

Abstract

Balinese script as the traditional script of the Balinese people is now increasingly being eroded by the times, especially in the field of education. Balinese script learning methods that are still conventional seem serious and monotonous and tend to get boring quickly. So we need learning support media that are more interesting and according to the needs of children aged 6-8 years. Utilizing the positive value of video Games and puzzle type Games, it is hoped that through the creation of Balinese script puzzle Games it can attract children's interest in learning. As a product in the form of a CD, packaging is needed that aims to protect, increase sales value and show the identity of the product inside. This study uses the method of collecting observational data, documentation and literature study. The design method used is Exploration, Improvisation and Formation of Alma Hawkins. This design produces a Balinese Script puzzle Game packaging that utilizes Ntal leaves as a media application to write information on the Game and add a Balinese identity to the packaging.

Abstract

ABSTRACTExhibitions can be one of the artistic patterns in presenting works, which are personal or individualistic. These artistic patterns can continue to be carried out by artists in strengthening their existence in the midst of the existing art field. The Mandalika art exhibition carries the theme Besiru as a representation of locality in covering various locality approaches that exist in the tribes of West Nusa Tenggara. Besiru is a social pattern that many people are starting to forget in the midst of modernization.The type of approach used is qualitative research with a naturalistic approach. Qualitative research or also known as naturalistic research. Data analysis techniques are carried out through the activities of collecting data, reducing data, classifying data, analyzing and drawing conclusions. The theoretical study used in this paper is Stuart Hall's representation theory.The conclusion of this study is that all components of design publication, work concept and exhibition management have a common thread with the exhibition theme, namely Besiru. The theme is present as a shared representation of a traditional activity that has begun to be forgotten. The relevance of the Besiru tradition as part of the Mandalika art can be found in the design of the publication and several other things. The illustration of the poster design for the Mandalika art exhibition, taken from several images done by the artists in collaborative installations and individual works. Apart from the exhibition design concept, the philosophical theme of Besiru is also implemented through a curatorial design written by the curator. Besiru's concept and philosophy also became the framework for the artists in creating three collaborative works that they worked on together.Keyword : Besiru, Design, Poster, Fine Art Exhibition
