Abstract

Education plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of human resources by improving intellectual and character development. In the context of religious education, the teaching of Aqidah Akhlak is vital for shaping students' moral character in accordance with Islamic values. However, traditional teaching methods, such as lectures, often lead to passive learning and reduced student engagement. This research investigates the effectiveness of the Snowball Throwing learning model, a more interactive approach, in enhancing the learning outcomes of students in Aqidah Akhlak at MTs Roudlotul Muta’allimin Simbar Cluring Banyuwangi. Using a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group, this study involved 44 students selected through cluster sampling, divided into an experimental group (class VIII A) and a control group (class VIII B). Data were collected using observations, interviews, tests, and documentation, and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and T-tests (paired sample t-test). The results showed a significant improvement in the learning outcomes of the experimental group, with a t-count of -22.363 and a significance value of 0.000, indicating that the Snowball Throwing model is more effective than traditional methods. The correlation coefficient of 0.845 further confirms the high effectiveness of this model. Thus, the Snowball Throwing learning model can significantly enhance students' engagement and learning outcomes in Aqidah Akhlak.

This research analyzes the use of English Discoveries (ED) platform as a media of technology embedded learning. Survey is used to collect what students perceive of using this such technological media learning in three different aspects such as accessibility, utility and affective behavior. Involving 265 students from education and teacher training faculty, the result shows positive attitude towards the implementation of ED. Abstract

Denotation and connotation in Arabic vocabulary play an important role in conveying rich and varied meanings, which can be analysed through a semantic approach to understand the nuances of the language more deeply. Although many studies have been conducted on the grammatical and phonological aspects of Arabic, there is a lack of in-depth research on analysing the denotation and connotation of Arabic vocabulary using a semantic approach. This study aims to explore and identify the denotative and connotative meanings of various vocabulary in Arabic and understand how context affects the interpretation of these meanings. The research method used is a literature study by analysing relevant literature, both in the form of books, journal articles, and digital sources, which focus on the theory and application of the semantic approach in Arabic vocabulary analysis. The findings of this study show that the semantic approach can reveal the complexity and diversity of meanings in Arabic vocabulary, as well as provide new insights into how denotation and connotation can contribute to a richer understanding of Arabic texts.

Abstract

Students' cognitive abilities play an important role in determining the success of the learning process. In learning Arabic, especially nahwu material, students often have difficulty understanding and applying nahwu concepts. This can occur due to various factors that affect their cognitive abilities, resulting in a lack of in-depth understanding of the material. This study focuses on Arabic Language Education students of Institut Agama Islam Al-Zaytun Indonesia (IAI AL-AZIS) from two age categories (19-24 years and 33-56 years) to find out how their cognitive abilities are in nahwu material through working on questions related to i’râb based on Bloom's taxonomy concept and exploring the factors that affect their cognitive abilities, as well as seeing efforts to develop their cognitive abilities. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. The results of the study showed differences in cognitive abilities between students aged 19-24 years and students aged 33-56 years, where younger students have higher abilities in the aspects of remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, assessing, and creating. However, both age groups showed a higher percentage at the LOTS (lower order thinking skills) level than HOTS (higher order thinking skills). Factors that influence students' cognitive abilities include interest, motivation, mood, anxiety, age, learning methods, learning environment, social support, educational background, and time constraints. Efforts to develop cognitive abilities through social interaction, independence, communication, learning experiences, and responsible attitudes have a positive impact on understanding in both age groups.

Abstract

Private schools such as Islamic boarding schools are described as schools where students study the Al-Qur'an by studying Arabic, because before studying the Al-Qur'an, students are expected to be able to understand Arabic letters and how to pronounce them. This is in line with the stereotype that has developed in society that Islamic boarding school graduates have good Arabic language skills. However, in reality, many students who attend Islamic boarding schools or some who have graduated have not yet actively communicated using Arabic. In one study, this was caused by students not practicing enough Arabic language learning during school. The aim of this research is to analyze and determine the problems experienced by students in applying the language environment and the various efforts of teachers in meeting students' needs in applying the language environment, especially in the school environment. This research method uses a qualitative approach with descriptive techniques. Data collection used observation techniques and in-depth interviews with students and Arabic language teachers at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ma'had Al-Zaytun, with a total of 42 informants. The results of this research show that the majority of students when interviewed used Arabic, they were able to answer simple questions about greeting and identity, a small percentage were unable to answer simple questions due to a lack of vocabulary, this is one of the problems experienced by students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Ma'had Al-Zaytun.
