Abstract

The concept of truth in Islamic educational philosophy lies at the heart of forming knowledgeable and virtuous individuals. This article aims to comprehensively explore the meaning of truth in Islamic educational philosophy through three main dimensions: ontological, epistemological, and axiological. Using a qualitative approach through a literature review of classical Muslim thinkers such as Al-Ghazali, Ibn Sina, and Al-Farabi, as well as modern scholars like Syed Naquib Al-Attas and Seyyed Hossein Nasr, this study analyzes the essence, sources, and purposes of truth within Islamic education. The findings reveal that truth originates from Allah SWT as the absolute reality (al-Haqq), is obtained through the integration of revelation, reason, and experience, and carries moral and social significance for human well- being. Therefore, Islamic education regards truth not merely as an object of knowledge but as a means of spiritual and social transformation toward the realization of insan kamil (the perfect human).

Abstract

Ancient spiritualism philosophy and the ideas of classical Greek philosophers such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle constitute an important foundation in the development of educational philosophy. Ancient spiritualism positions the soul as the deepest essence of human existence and the primary source of truth and moral values, while Greek philosophers developed educational concepts oriented toward the formation of reason, morality, and character. This study aims to describe the concept of ancient spiritualism philosophy and to analyze the educational perspectives of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle within a philosophical framework of education. This research employs a qualitative descriptive library research method by examining classical philosophical sources and educational literature. The findings reveal that ancient spiritualism regards the soul as the highest human essence; Socrates emphasizes moral education through reflective dialogue; Plato views education as the ascent of the soul toward the world of ideas and the highest good; and Aristotle affirms education as a rational and moral process shaped through habituation and experience. These perspectives collectively form the conceptual basis of modern humanistic education, which emphasizes the balance between intellectual development, moral formation, and character building.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the Korean Wave on the disciplinary character of Generation Z high school students at Yayasan Pondok Pesantren Bustanul Makmur. The Korean Wave, or Hallyu, is a global phenomenon encompassing the dissemination of South Korean popular culture—such as music (K-Pop), drama, fashion, and lifestyle—which has gained significant popularity among adolescents, including students in Islamic boarding schools. This phenomenon is believed to exert both positive and negative impacts on character development, particularly in relation to discipline. The research employed a quantitative method with an explanatory survey approach. The sample consisted of 70 female students aged 15–18 years (Gen Z) who are enthusiasts of the Korean Wave. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS 27.0. The findings indicate a significant influence of the Korean Wave on the disciplinary character of Gen Z students at Yayasan Pondok Pesantren Bustanul Makmur, with a significance value of < 0.05. The magnitude of this influence is reflected in the coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.467 or 46.7%, meaning that 46.7% of the variation in disciplinary character is explained by the intensity of engagement with the Korean Wave, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors. The study concludes that although the Korean Wave contributes positively to cultural awareness and creativity, it may also affect students’ discipline if not approached wisely. Therefore, strengthening character education that is adaptive to global cultural developments is essential within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the innovation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in Islamic Religious Education as a strategy to improve student learning achievement in the digital era. The phenomenon behind this study is the low level of student engagement in conventional IRE learning and the need for a more contextual and adaptive learning model in line with developments in information technology. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, through an in-depth analysis of various scientific literature, research articles, and relevant sources that discuss the application of PBL in the context of Islamic Religious Education. The results of the analysis show that the application of the PBL model in PAI learning encourages the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration Pendidikan Agama Islam in students through active engagement in authentic learning situations. Digital innovations such as the use of e-learning, interactive applications, and collaborative platforms strengthen the effectiveness of PBL by creating a flexible and participatory learning environment. These findings contribute to strengthening the PAI learning paradigm, which is not only oriented towards mastery of material, but also towards character building and 21st century competencies. In conclusion, PBL innovation in PAI learning has positive implications for improving academic achievement and developing students' religious values in the digital age. This study recommends the development of a technology-based PBL model and further research using an empirical approach to test its effectiveness in the context of learning at various levels of education

Abstract

Islamic Education Management (MPI) has long been oriented toward technical-administrative aspects and cognitive achievement, while affective dimensions such as love, empathy, and compassion have not been systematically managed within the curriculum. This condition implies that educational practices often lose their humanistic and spiritual essence, despite Islamic education normatively carrying values of mercy and morality. Previous studies mostly discussed Islamic education curriculum from normative, competency, or policy perspectives, but rarely placed “love” as a managerial foundation in curriculum management. The research gap lies in the absence of love values as a conceptual framework that holistically connects spiritual, humanistic, and pedagogical dimensions. This study offers novelty by conceptualizing a “curriculum of love” as a paradigm of education management that is not only ethical-normative but also operational in planning, implementation, and evaluation of Islamic education curriculum. The research questions are: first, how can the concept of a curriculum of love be positioned as a foundation in Islamic Education Management; and second, how can the integration of spiritual, humanistic, and pedagogical values be realized in curriculum management. This study employs library research with conceptual and philosophical approaches, analyzing classical and contemporary literature relevant to MPI, humanistic education, and Islamic values. The findings show that the curriculum of love functions as an integrative framework that strengthens value orientation in education management, encourages student-centered learning practices, and reaffirms the purpose of Islamic education as a process of forming faithful, moral, and holistic personalities.

Abstract

Number sense is a fundamental component of meaningful mathematics learning, particularly in solving arithmetic operation problems. However, many students demonstrate procedural proficiency without adequate numerical understanding. This study aims to describe and analyze students’ number sense in solving arithmetic operation problems in relation to differences in mathematical ability. A mixed methods approach with an explanatory sequential design was employed. The participants were 60 seventh-grade students from MTs Miftahul Ulum Lumajang, who were categorized into high, medium, and low mathematical ability groups based on a mathematics ability test. Quantitative data were collected through a number sense test and analyzed using descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results indicate a statistically significant difference in students’ number sense across different levels of mathematical ability (p<0.05). Students with high mathematical ability demonstrated more developed number sense, characterized by effective estimation, flexible strategy use, and the ability to evaluate the reasonableness of results. Students with medium mathematical ability showed partial development with inconsistent use of estimation and strategies, whereas students with low mathematical ability relied heavily on mechanical procedures and exhibited limited understanding of numerical relationships. These findings highlight the importance of differentiated instruction in arithmetic operations that emphasizes the development of number sense according to students’ mathematical ability levels.

Abstract

Character education is a fundamental aspect in shaping students’ personalities, especially amid the moral challenges of contemporary society. This study aims to analyze the concept of character education in the Qur’anic verse Al-Ahzab 33:21 based on the interpretation of Tafsir Al-Misbah and to explore its relevance and implementation in contemporary Islamic education. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research and content analysis of primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that the concept of uswah hasanah in the verse emphasizes the exemplary conduct of Prophet Muhammad as the primary model for character formation, encompassing integrity, responsibility, patience, and social ethics. Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the concept of digital literacy among students based on Hadith values as a response to ethical and media behavior challenges in the digital age. The phenomenon of low internalization of values such as manners, honesty, and tabayyun in students' digital activities is the main issue behind this study. The research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method, which systematically examines nationally and internationally indexed journal articles, academic books, and relevant scientific documents published between 2020 and 2025. Data collection techniques were carried out through searching, selecting, and thematic analysis of literature sources discussing digital literacy, Islamic education, and Hadith values. The results of the study show several main themes, namely: (1) digital literacy as an ethical and valuable practice, (2) the relevance of Hadith values such as tabayyun, amanah, and adab in the digital space, and (3) the importance of integrating Hadith values in students' digital literacy learning. These findings contribute to strengthening the conceptual understanding of digital literacy in the perspective of Islamic education. This study concludes that Hadith-based digital literacy has the potential to become a normative and practical framework in shaping students' character, and recommends further empirical research to test its implementation in the context of formal education.
