Abstract

This community service program implemented a participatory approach through the Participatory Development Real Work Lecture (KKN-PM) to revitalize the potential of Mekarjadi Village, Ciamis Regency. The comprehensive assessment revealed several critical challenges, including limited digital marketing capabilities among MSMEs, suboptimal post-harvest agricultural product management, inadequate disaster preparedness, and traditional administrative systems. The methodology employed participatory rural appraisal techniques, including direct observation, focused group discussions, and collaborative planning with village stakeholders. Implementation strategies encompassed digital literacy training for MSMEs, sustainable agricultural practices using environmentally friendly pest control, participatory disaster risk mapping, development of village profile websites, and school literacy movements. The results demonstrated significant achievements: 75% of MSME participants successfully adopted digital marketing tools, comprehensive disaster risk maps were established across three hamlets, a functional village website was launched, and student literacy engagement increased by 80%. The program successfully enhanced community capacity in local resource management, although longitudinal mentoring remains essential for sustainable impact. The participatory methodology proved highly effective in ensuring community ownership and designing contextually appropriate interventions that addressed genuine local needs while fostering sustainable development principles.

Abstract

Non-biodegradable plastic waste is a primary environmental problem at the household level, often ending up littering the environment and polluting rivers due to the lack of an effective waste separation system. This program aimed to provide dedicated plastic waste facilities in every hamlet, while also educating the community on the importance of sorting waste at the source to reduce environmental pollution. The implementation method involved the manufacture and distribution of simple and durable plastic waste bins to every hamlet, complemented by active socialization to residents on waste separation procedures and the potential economic value of the collected plastic waste. A total of 5 waste bins were successfully distributed. The visible impacts include a cleaner village environment, increased resident awareness in waste sorting, and the accumulation of plastic waste ready to be recycled or sold, opening up new economic opportunities. This plastic waste bin program has proven to be a practical and sustainable step. It not only directly addresses the cleanliness issue but also builds the foundation for an integrated waste management system that empowers the community economically and environmentally.

Abstract

Community service activities through the Real Work Lecture (RWL) program in Tanjungjaya Village, Tasikmalaya Regency, were carried out to optimize existing potential. Tanjungjaya Village boasts favorable agroclimatic conditions and a rich cultural heritage, exemplified by the reog dog-dog art form. However, this potential has not been fully utilized due to technological limitations, low practitioner retention, and a lack of innovation. This activity uses a participatory approach with methods of community education, training, and mediation. The programs implemented include counseling on clean and healthy lifestyles, education on plastic waste recycling, socialization of disaster mitigation and tree planting to prevent landslides, and assistance to farmers to optimize agricultural cultivation as well as bridging the gap between farmers and extension workers and village officials regarding limitations in the field of agriculture. This activity also strengthens the partnership between universities and village governments and provides students with practical experience in applying their knowledge in the field. Overall, the community service program in Tanjungjaya Village has proven effective in encouraging community empowerment based on local potential towards independent and sustainable village development.

Abstract

The potential of bioenergy in the northern coastal region of Lamongan offers significant opportunities to support sustainable development through the utilization of abundant local natural resources. The development of bioenergy in this area depends heavily on the availability of raw materials, applied technology, and supportive government policies. This paper aims to analyze the factors influencing the competitiveness of the bioenergy industry in Lamongan using Porter’s Five Forces model. The analysis finds that the threat of new entrants is relatively low due to high investment barriers (about 30–40% of total initial costs) and limited technological capacity. However, policy incentives for renewable energy and market access could reduce these barriers within the next 5–10 years, in line with the National Electricity Supply Plan (RUPTL) 2021– 2030 targeting a 23% renewable energy share by 2025. Buyer power is strong, driven by a 15% annual increase in renewable energy demand, while supplier dependence on agricultural and fishery biomass creates production instability. Although substitute energy sources such as solar and wind present challenges, limited competition and growing policy support provide strategic opportunities. Strengthening cross-sector collaboration, innovation, and technological investment is essential to enhance Lamongan’s bioenergy competitiveness and contribution to SDG 7 and SDG 13.

Abstract

MSMEs often face limitations in reaching a wider market. Generally, micro and small business actors have not been adaptive in using digital technology as an effort to increase profits for the businesses they manage. This socialization program is designed to provide understanding and practical skills regarding digital marketing that can help MSMEs expand their markets, encourage innovation in marketing strategies. In addition, this program is expected to increase the competitiveness of village MSMEs and encourage the community's economy in a sustainable manner. The results of the community service activities from this socialization activity are that MSME actors gain increased knowledge and motivation for business actors in utilizing digital media for promotion. However, in this activity, there are obstacles encountered, namely in the process of mentoring MSMEs, it was found that some business actors experienced difficulty in understanding the material, especially related to the use of digital technology. One of the main factors influencing this is the age of the MSME actors. Older MSME actors tend to have limitations in keeping up with technological developments.

Abstract

Soil erosion in the Parangonan area is a primary concern, threatening land fertility and environmental balance. The available vacant land has great potential to be managed as a conservation effort that can also provide added value for the community. This activity aimed to utilize vacant land by planting trees as a concrete step to prevent erosion, while also greening the environment and creating a resource with sustainable economic value for the residents. The method used was participatory action, where the service team worked directly with the local community to plant avocado tree seedlings in the land provided by the village. A total of 15 avocado tree seedlings were successfully planted. The presence of these trees not only functions to bind the soil and prevent erosion but is also expected to become an economic asset for the community when they bear fruit, as avocados have a fairly high market value.

Abstract

Household waste management in rural areas remains challenging due to limited facilities, inadequate education, and the absence of source-separation habits. This community engagement program was implemented in Jayapura Village, Cigalontang Sub-district, Tasikmalaya Regency, to develop a participatory waste management system through education, provision of organic–inorganic waste bins, sorting training, and establishment of a waste bank. The program included initial observation, 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) socialization, technical training, and installation of educational media on waste decomposition times. Conducted over 35 days, the program actively involved local residents. The results indicated significant improvement in community knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward waste management. Residents began sorting waste, processing organic waste into compost and liquid fertilizer, and utilizing the waste bank to manage recyclable inorganic materials. The provision of facilities and direct mentoring fostered sustainable environmental behavior. The program also contributed to household food security and promoted village-scale circular economy practices. This model demonstrates strong potential for replication in other rural areas to achieve cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments.
