Journal of Vocational and Career Education
Journal of Vocational and Career Education [p-ISSN 2339-0344| e-ISSN 2503-2305] is a peer-reviewed journal which welcomes submissions involving a critical discussion of policy and practice, as well as contributions to conceptual and theoretical developments in the field. It includes articles based on empirical research and analysis (quantitative, qualitative and mixed method) and welcomes papers from a wide range of disciplinary and inter-disciplinary perspectives. The journal embraces the broad range of settings and ways in which vocational and professional learning takes place and, hence, is not restricted by institutional boundaries or structures in relation to national systems of education and training. It is interested in the study of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment, as well as economic, cultural and political aspects related to the role of vocational and professional education and training in society.

<![CDATA[Conservation – Minded  Behavior of  Field Practice Participant On Automotive Engineering Education Program. This study was aimed at figuring out: 1) conservation – minded behavior, 2) knowledge conservation, 3) achievement motivation, and 4) the support of conservation knowledge and achievement motivation simultaneously or independently to the conservation – minded behaviour of the field practice participants on automotive engineering education program, Engineering Faculty. This study was conducted in Mechanical Engineering Department, Engineering Faculty, UNNES and industry in Semarang in the year of 2017. 33 students were involved as the samples of this study. The conservation – minded behavior data were gathered using observation sheet, conservation knowledge data by test and achievement motivation data were gathered using questionnaire. The data were then analysed using descriptive statistics,  multi regression   and   communality. The descriptive analysis showed that: conservation-minded behaviour of the field practice participants was mostly high, the conservation knowledge was mostly low and achievement motivation was mostly high. The multi regression analysis showed that the knowledge conservation and achievement motivation contributed 35.4% to the conservation – minded behavior. The communality analysis showed that conservation knowledge of the field practice participants contributed 15% to the conservation – minded behavior, and achievement motivation distributed 17.8% to the conservation – minded behaviour. The suggestion from this study was that the automotive engineering education should make an effort to improve the conservation – minded knowledge.]]>

<![CDATA[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) Pengaruh model pembelajaran proyek berorientasi Ecopreneurship terhadap hasil belajar praktik pengelasan di SMK; (2) Pengaruh motivasi terhadap hasil belajar praktik pengelasan di SMK; (3) Pengaruh interaksi model pembelajaran proyek berorientasi Ecopreneurship dan motivasi belajar siswa secara bersama-sama terhadap hasil belajar praktik Pengelasan di SMK. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan teknik Simple Random sampling yang dilakukan kepada 60 siswa. Pengambilan data diperoleh melalui angket dan tes serta dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji statistik anava dua jalan dengan interaksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada taraf signifikasi 5% : (1) Ada pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran proyek berorientasi Ecopreneurship terhadap hasil belajar praktik Pengelasan di SMK (2) Ada pengaruh motivasi belajar terhadap hasil belajar praktik pengelasan di SMK. (3) Ada pengaruh interaksi model pembelajaran proyek berorientasi Ecopreneurship dan motivasi belajar siswa secara bersama -sama terhadap hasil belajar praktik Pengelasan di SMK. This study is motivated by low of student activity, lack of understanding on environmental problem and non maximum learning outcome of welding practice in class X TKR students in Vocational High School. This study aims to determine (1) the effect of Ecopreneurship-oriented project learning model on the learning outcomes of welding practice in Vocational High School; (2) The effect of motivation on the learning outcomes of welding practice in Vocational High School; (3) The interaction effect of Ecopreneurship-oriented project learning model and student learning motivation simultaneously on learning outcomes of welding practice in Vocational High School. This study was an experimental study using Simple Random sampling technique performed to 60 students. The data were collected through questionnaire and test and analyzed using descriptive statistic and two ways ANOVA statistical test with interaction. The results showed that at 5% significance level: (1) There was an effect of Ecopreneurship-oriented project learning model on the learning outcomes of welding practice in Vocational High School (2) There was an effect of learning motivation on the learning outcomes of welding practice in Vocational High School. (3) There was an interaction effect of Ecopreneurship-oriented project learning model and student learning motivation simultaneously on learning outcomes of welding practice in Vocational High School. This study has an advantage to add insight about the learning model/strategy to improve student learning outcomes, as well as a contribution of scientific work for the development of useful science for society.]]>

<![CDATA[Assessment instrument is one of the important parts of a research, it should be suitable with the things that are going to work with. This research is purposed to test the validity and reliability of the instrument that is going to use to examine the visual aid media electric power steering. The validity analysis model used in this test is Content Validity Ratio or CVR to asses the validity of the instrument. Meanwhile, the reliability instrument is tested trough Intraclass Correlation Coefficient; ICC). The result showed that the points of the instrument reach the CVR number of 0.99 which means that the instrument is valid. Furthermore, the number of ICC is 0.835 (media expert instrument), 0,815 (material expert instrument) and 0,732 (user response instrument). From the findings, it can be concluded that the instruments for media and material experts are in high stability category, while the user response instrument can be categorized as adequate. Finally, these instruments are valid to asses the suitability of the electric power steering media.]]>

<![CDATA[Competency test material is an integral part of an assessment in learning process. What is to be measured in learning and the availability of instrument. The purpose of the study is to analyze the validity of competency test material, the reliability of the test material, and to determine the effectiveness of competency test material. This study employed research and development (R & D) method. The product developed in this study was the daily make up competency test material validated by using expert validation, and has been tested on students of the beauty program in vocational high school in May 2018. The validity of the product was achieved by using validity test, reliability by reliability test and effectiveness of competency test material using normalized-gain test analysis. The results of the study on the development of daily makeup competency test materials for vocational school students in beauty program showed that there were 3 aspects of assessments: knowledge, attitudes and skills. The effectiveness of knowledge competency test material was 20%; attitude 35%; and skill 85%. The testing material was proven to be able to assess students effectively and objectively.]]>

<![CDATA[PAUD (Play Groups) Tunas Bangsa and PAUD Jati Asih are institutions that position parents as partners in the preparation and personal development from an early age, providing guidance to play groups and kindergartens in the Ngaliyan area of Semarang. Two institutions of Early Childhood Education that will become partners in the Community Partnership Program (PKM). Dra. Tri Edi Mhanani as the principal of Tunas Bangsa PAUD school and Ibu Sri Lestari Raahayu P., A.Md as the principal of Jati Asih PAUD school have the same topic, namely not having education related to environmental goals. Educational props of the ladder snake game (EGUT) can help improve children's cognitive and psychomotor abilities. Children will learn to analyze colors, recognize letters, socialize, jump, throw, all of which are positive things in children's development. The material and features provided can help children to love the environment.]]>

<![CDATA[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: Menguji keefektifan, kelayakan dan kepraktisan model yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode research and development (R&D). Model yang dikembangkan yaitu pembelajaran pengelolaan usaha boga. Studi pendahuluan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa diperlukan tindak lanjut terhadap pembelajaran pengelolaan usaha boga untuk meningkatkan kompetensi wirausaha siswa. Model PPUB terbukti efektif dari adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa sebesar 0,371% kreteria “sedangâ€. Terbukti layak dari respon guru dengan rata-rata 3,25 kriteria “sangat layakâ€. Terbukti praktis dari respon siswa dengan rata-rata 3,4 kreteria “praktisâ€. Dengan demikian model PPUB dapat meningkatkan kompetensi wirausaha siswa jasa boga. Saran agar hasil penelitian model perlu disosialisasikan kepada guru SMK Jasa Boga agar dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran pengelolaan usaha boga.This study aimed to determine: Testing the effectiveness, feasibility and practicality of the catering business management learning model which was developed. This study used Research and Development (R&D). The model that developed was the learning of catering business management. The preliminary study in this study indicated that follow-up to the learning of catering business management is required to improve the students’ entrepreneurship competence. The development stage of catering business learning model included product design from learning media development and the strategy of learning model. The PPUB model proved that it was effective from the improvement of student learning outcomes by 0,371% with “medium†criteria. The PPUB model proved that it was feasible from the teacher responses with an average grade of 3.25 with “very feasible†criteria, and the model proved that it was practical from the student responses by obtaining an average of 3.4 with “practical†criteria. Thus, the model could improve students’ entrepreneurs catering services competence. The suggestion from result of this study is model of PPUB needs to be socialized to the teachers of SMK Jasa Boga in order it can be apply in management of catering business learning]]>

<![CDATA[One of the problems employing learning media is the incompetence in operation and application procedures. An apparent lack of using the audio video as a learning media causes by the teachers themselves. The purpose of the study is to arrange a model of self-directed learning (SDL) with audio-visual media to measure students’ result in terms of independence and proficiency that are valid, reliable and effective. Research and Development (R&D) method was employed to conduct the research with Four-D model of Thiagarajan. The eligibility of SDL model was tested with CVR in the aspect of validity, meanwhile the reliability was measured with Kappa statistics. The effectiveness of SDL was tested with t-test of dependent variable in terms of students’ independence and proficiency in operating the audio/video devices as learning media. The result showed that the validation of audio/video media, according to the three evaluators, was categorized into valid, the reliability was marked substantial, and the effectiveness of improvement related to students’ result in terms of independence and proficiency using SDL showed t-posttest 5,342, significantly, was effective to be employed. The conclusion of this study was that the SDL model with audio video media to acquire basic competence in analyzing video, animation and/or digital music production were reliable, eligible and effective, therefore could be applied.]]>

<![CDATA[Combining Cooperation-Cooperative (Co-op Co-op) and Make a Match model can stimulate students to be active in online learning. Students were able to construct their knowledge independently by using the Co-op Co-op model. Learning atmosphere became attractive with finding the partner games during the class used the Make a Match model. This combination model made students more active and did not quickly feel bored. This research aimed to know the effectiveness of the Co-op Co-op and Make a Match model in online learning for based competency in operating survey tools and mapping to improve students’ achievement. The current research used quasi-experiment research. The experiment class consists of 35 ten grade students of Building Information Modeling (DPIB) one, while the control class consists of 36 ten grade students of Building Information Modeling (DPIB) two. Pre-test and post-test were given by using Google form to both groups. The average score of N-Gain achieved 75,9%, which means the implementation learning model was effective to advance students’ achievement. Independent sample T-test got T count = 4,59 > T. It can be said there was a significant difference in average score between experiment and control group. Furthermore, the students’ interest questionnaire achieved 84,5. In conclusion, Co-op Co-op and Make a Match model in online learning by using supporting tools (Google Meet, WhatApp group, etc.) not only effective to improve students’ achievement but also got positive responses from the participants. The teacher can use this combination model to improve students’ interest and achievement in online learning.]]>

<![CDATA[Entrepreneurship Learning is expected to be one of the answers for education in Vocational Schools to overcome the problem of the number of unemployed graduates. The lack of entrepreneurs in Indonesia opens up great opportunities for vocational graduates to become entrepreneurs. In line with this, the Directorate of Vocational Education Development (PSMK) pays special attention to strengthening entrepreneurship learning at Vocational Schools by creating a School of Entrepreneurship program. The CIPP (Context Input Product Process) evaluation model is implemented to analyze the level of success of the School of Entrepreneurship program implementation in Vocational Schools that receive this assistance program. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of the School of Entrepreneurship program from the evaluation aspects of context, input, process, and product. The results of the evaluation analysis show that the School of Entrepreneurship program based on the context aspect has a formal foundation, which is Government Regulation No.15 of 2018 (Article 9 B), the input aspect has human resources of students and teachers who have entrepreneurial backgrounds and have good infrastructure, aspect of process of activities is carried out in accordance with a manual that has been determined by the Directorate of Vocational Education Development (PSMK) and is well implemented, product aspects consist of : (1) The formation of the School of Entrepreneurship team; (2) Socialization of the School of Entrepreneurship program in the school environment; (3) Exhibition activities of products of School of Entrepreneurship program; (4) Fostering entrepreneurial activities; (5) Increase in student competence in digital marketing; (6) The creation of independent student entrepreneurial activities; and (7) Evaluation of the continuation of School of Entrepreneurship program.]]>

<![CDATA[The development of vocational practice learning must adapt to the needs of contemporary industry competencies. Vocational practice learning innovations must be carried out appropriately, systematically by taking into account the needs of the environment. The selection of the right learning model affects the process, learning outcomes, and student learning experience. This study aims to analyze the process of learning industrial product-based machining practices. The research approach used an experiment with a static group comparison design. The design of this study used two groups consisting of an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group is the group that gets treatment using industrial product-based practical learning, while the control group uses practical learning based on assignment job sheets. The choice of the two groups was done randomly. Each group consists of 20 respondents. The research respondents were students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Universitas Negeri Semarang who met the requirements and had passed the Machining Process 1 course. The results revealed that there were differences in the process of implementing the learning practice of industrial product-based machining and learning the practice of machining based on job sheet assignments. The difference in the learning process between the two groups is about the process of giving apperception and motivation, mastery of learning materials, implementing learning strategies, choosing the application of learning resources or learning media, involving students in learning, and closing learning activities.]]>
