Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of Self-Efficacy, Management Ability, and Internal Communication on Teachers’ Organizational Commitment at Dwi Warna Senior High School Medan. The amount of population is 52 people and the sample is 30 people. The distribution data shows that 62.30% is included in the Fair category and 37.70 in the less category.  The data distribution of Self-efficacy categorizes that 65.90% is included in the fair category and 34.10% in the less category. The distribution of Management Capability data shows that 64.40% is included in the high category and 35.60% in the fair category. The distribution of Internal Communication data shows that 68.20% is included in the high category and 31.80% in the fair category. The results obtained from the calculation are 50.394. The F table is calculated with the provisions of the significance level of 95% and alpha 5% and degrees of freedom with provisions n - 1 = 29. With these provisions obtained lift Ftable = 2, 85 Thus the value of Fcount = 50.394, and Ftable = 2.85. Because Fcount > Ftable which means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant simultaneous influence between self-efficacy, Management Capability, Internal Communication on Organizational Commitment.

Abstract

Research data were analyzed through reflective studies in each cycle. The results of data analysis shows that in the first cycle there had been an increase in students learning interest with a success percentage of 38.10% compared with students learning interest before being given action in the first cycle (23.91% of students were successful). However, in this cycle there are still some shortcomings because most students are not familiar with the learning conditions through the recitation method. The shortcomings in the first cycle are seen from the low level of students learning interest in the learning process with an average percentage of 67.26%, lecturer activities 75.05%, and the ability of students with an average score of 71.90 with a success percentage of 54, 35%. In the second cycle, student learning interest and the way lecturers teaching is run better. The activity of students and lecturers in learning has increased with a percentage score of 71.88% and 83.77%, with a graduation rate of 58.70%. Student mastery of the material also increased with an average score of 74.40%. The implementation of the third cycle starts from the problem at the stage of action II. The average score of students' ability to mastery of the material obtained in action III is 85.83, with a graduation rate of 91.30%. The average score of student activities in PBM is 78.80%. Meanwhile, lecturers' activities in learning also improved well, with a percentage of 87.70%.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low learning achievement of Pancasila and Citizenship Education. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of learning styles on the Learning Outcomes of Pancasila and Citizenship Education. The type of research used is a 2x2 factorial design study. The population of this study amounted to 60 students and the sample was taken as a whole from the total population of 60 people consisting of 30 from class Va and 30 from class Vb Elementary School Experiment in Medan. Data collection techniques using questionnaires (questionnaires) and tests. Data analysis techniques used product moment correlation and Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) programs. The results obtained indicate that the value of students who have a visual learning style has a difference with students who have auditory learning styles with a sig value of 0.000 and a mean difference of 4.5756. Between students who have a visual learning style, have a significant difference with students who have kinesthetic learning styles, with a sig value of 0.002 and a mean difference of 4.4940. Between students who have auditory learning styles did not have a significant difference with students who have kinesthetic learning styles, with a sig value of 0.998 and a mean difference of only 0.815. The results showed that there was a significant effect between learning styles on the learning outcomes of Pancasila and Citizenship Education in the fifth grade students of SD Negeri Experiment City Medan

Abstract

The increasing usage of creative writing strategy in a poetry writing classroom can nevertheless answer the question which has been empirically explored throughout the decade; Can second language learner write a poem in their non-native tongue? This study aimed to answer whether the creative writing strategy can facilitate novice writers who are the third year of English Department undergraduate students to be able to write an English poem. The strategies cover written prompts dealing with their personal experience and memory. After conducting two series of creative writing workshop, the result conveys that second language novice writers demonstrate the ability to communicate their personal experience dealing with their significant others. Repetition of words and grammatical error exist, yet most writers can produce longer poems with complexities. Also by providing the novice writers with written prompts, students find themselves more enthusiastic and eager to write.

Abstract

Higher order thinking skills is important to apply in learning, particularly in making questions tested to studernts. Higher order thinking skills is a cognitive process which encompasses; analysis, evaluation, and create. In accordance with the 2013 curriculum, the questions made for the high school level must achieve the stage of create of the cognitive process. This research found that the teachers’questions did not include evaluation and create of the cognitive process.

Abstract

This research deals with The Effect of Learning Strategy and Education Background on Student Learning Outcomes of Islamic Junior High Public School (MTsN 1) Simalungun. One effort that can be done to improve learning outcomes is to improve the quality of learning by implementing better learning strategies.The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method. The results show that there is an interaction between learning strategies with educational backgrounds, where students with an educational background in islamic elementary school (MI) are better taught using generative learning strategies compared to using expository learning strategies, while students with educational background in elementary school (SD) is better taught by using expository learning strategies compared to generative learning strategies. This is evidenced by the price of Fcount 35.48> Ftable 3.984.

Abstract

This study is aimed to improve the students’ vocabulary acquisition through derivational suffixes strategy. The subject of this study is the students of Class IX-1 of SMP Santo Petrus Medan in the academic year of 2017/2018. This study is conducted by applying Classroom Action Research (CAR), which have been conducted in two cycles (cycle 1 and cycle 2) and each cycle consisted of four meetings. The results of vocabulary test shows that the progressing mean score of the pretest is 34.66, post test in cycle 1 is 93.46, and post test in cycle 2 is 97.33. In cycle 1, the comparison percentage of nominal is 88.83%, verbal is 77.46%, adjectival is 40.74%, and adverbial is 84.14%. In cycle 2, the comparison percentage of nominal is 100%, verbal is 95.45%, adjectival is 65.84%, and adverbial is 94.91%. The percentage of the students who pass Minimal Criterion Mastery in each cycle is 100%, with the improvement 169.64% in cycle 1 to 180.81% in cycle 2. These indicate that there is a significant improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery through affixation strategy of Class IX-1 of SMP Santo Petrus Medan in the academic year of 2017/2018.

Abstract

the aim of this research is to get a student learning result of citizenship education in internet learning media with high interpersonal communication get solustion for problems about the teaching and learning process in Civics learning in this school, the researcher conducted a direct interview with the teacher who took care of the subjects to the location/ object of research, namely class XI teacher Al-Azhar High School Medan. This research was conducted at Al-Azhar High School Medan, in class XI, both for conducting instrument trials and conducting research. This research will be carried out in the even semester of 2018/2019 Academic Year, namely in April 2019, with the treatment given in 6 meetings.  The result is Interpersonal communication is communication between communicator and communicant and Citizenship learning outcomes of students who have high interpersonal communication are higher than citizen ship learning outcomes of students who have low interpersonal communication.

Abstract

This article explores the importance of education and schooling precisely, as the catalyst for the development and transformation of citizens within, the African context. Historically, intellectual and citizenship education has always been seen as a western concept within the African continent. Hence, this exacerbated the myopic view that intellectual education is new as its approach in schools is often western oriented. Drawing from post-colonial theory, this study opines that though education and learning in particular have played a pivotal role in the enhancement and transformation of citizens in Africa as a whole during the post-independence era, citizenship education is not a new concept. Further, I expound and interrogate the African governments’ efforts and initiatives in fostering citizenship through learning. More so, this study points out that if we do move beyond any labelling essentialities, intellectualism has always been part and parcel of the nucleus of education among these nations and schools have also served as catalyst of social change. This is clearly reflected in various tasks and projects found in educational policies and frameworks which include enhancing the provision and access to education, language policies, indigenous knowledge systems and the indigenisation of the school curriculum  to enable it to be relevant to the current national ideals and vision. Conclusively, these programmes and initiatives were obviously implemented towards citizenship development aimed at empowering pupils with specific kind of education ideal for intellectual and national development within the countries of the Global South. Thus, the paper opines that the teaching of new learning areas through heritage studies in secondary schools, national and strategic studies in tertiary institutions should further be reconceptualised to reflect the local context and their ways of understanding and deconstructing the colonial narratives and mind set.

Abstract

The use of the internet is a part of our daily lives. Most of us spend a large part of using quotas on social media applications, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube as social media channels . Covid-19 has bridged the rapidly increasing use of social media / internet, the existence of a distance learning system (online) proving that this pandemic has focused on learning shifting from conventional to distance or online (in the network). The writing method uses a qualitative paradigm with a descriptive approach. Discussion 1. Covid-19 Era Digital Activism 2. Covid-19 Effects on Learning Systems 3. Health Effects of Distance or Online Learning Models (in network). Conclusion: COVID-19 spread in Indonesia in early March 2020. The spread of this virus causes losses to many countries, especially in the economic field. In the field of education, COVID-19 also changed the learning model drastically; all learning activities are carried out online starting from elementary school level to university level. Health effects need to be considered in the present, so it is hoped that every social actor understands and overcomes the effects of the use of media in distance learning.
