Abstract

In its presentation, the mass media use various language tools to package environmental discourse, one of which is euphemism. This study highlights the phenomenon of the use of euphemisms contained in the environmental discourse of moving the country's capital city in the mass media in Indonesia. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data was taken from online news portals, namely Kompas.com, Okezone.com, and Detik.com using the listening method with an advanced technique in the form of note taking. The data is limited only around the context of the transfer of the country's capital. Data analysis is done interactively and continues continuously until complete. The euphemism expression unit used by the mass media in Indonesia in the discourse of the transfer of the country's capital is divided into four, namely words, phrases, clauses, and sentences. Units of expression in the form of words, namely in the form of the basic words noun and adjective nits of expression in the form of derivative words are divided into three, namely noun, adjective, and drab. Euphemism units of expression take the form of phrases, namely noun phrases and adjective phrases. Units of expression in the form of clauses and sentences found only one variation. The euphemism categorization found in ten data, namely one for one subtitutions, flippancy, generale for specific, remodeling, colloquial, understatement, circomlucation, acronym, metaphor, and clipping. Euphemism.

Abstract

This study aims at analyzing banking risks and performance during the COVID-19 pandemic which will affect the soundness of the bank. In this study, the researchers applied the qualitative method by examining the condition of natural objects, positioning the researchers as the key instrument, applying triangulation (combination) in the data collection, and analyzing data inductively. The analyzed data in this study was collected by implementing library research, which is a study carried out by collecting data from books, journals, articles, magazines, and internet sources related to research problems. The collected data from internet sources were in the form of stock price data and transaction volume at banks on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Those data were obtained from idx.co.id and ojk.go.id. Results of this study indicate that all banks tend to experience a decline in the value of risk-weighted assets, capital adequacy ratios, and interest income at each bank and sectoral level. Moreover, larger banks are relatively more vulnerable. The decrease in those three dimensions is predicted to increase disproportionately if the NPL shock becomes larger. The findings further suggest that a 10% NPL shock can force the capital adequacy of all banks to fall below the BASEL III minimum requirement, while a shock of 13% or more can turn it into zero or negative at the sectoral level. Apart from that, the call to stay at home has an impact on many sectors, especially the banking sector, so that financing growth slows and non-performing financing increases because many people have lost their jobs. This non-current financing definitely will have an impact on banking financial performance, leading to non-performing financing (NPF).

Abstract

The mention of ethnic group in the North Sumatra was constructed by outsiders. The concepts of "Batak" and "Malay" are given by the outside world as labels. When used to refer to the population combined with this unity, these labels become evasive identities. Architecture is based on natural, cultural and religious fortresses and the social changes surrounding them. Although unification was rejected, it still appeared in various social science literature. This fact had an impact on the truth and error that was considered essential, especially in the second decade of the third millennium. Recent studies and various empirical evidence confirm that mentioning the ethnic groups in North Sumatra and stigmatizing them is an external construction, avoiding identity, and it is now widely rejected.

Abstract

State auditors have an important role in assessing whether public sector entities are doing what they are supposed to do and work to detect and prevent public corruption so that better management of nation finances can be achieved. Looking at several cases involving financial administrators, the big responsibility in realizing a clean and free nation from corruption, collusion and nepotism leads the auditor to a level of work stress which is estimated to affect the auditor's performance. This study examines the effect of work stress on auditor performance using the “Big Five Personality Traits” model which consists of five factors: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness to experience and neuroticism/emotional stability as moderating variables. The study is conducted by surveying 36 auditors who work for the Supreme Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia representative in Bali Province (BPK RI Perwakilan Provinsi Bali) and using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The result show that work stress level negatively affects auditor performance. The big five personality model also plays a role in moderating the effect of work stress on auditor performance with the following results: 1) openness to experience significantly strengthens the relationship between work stress level and auditor performance, 2) conscientiousness insignificantly strengthens the relationship between work stress level and auditor performance, 3) extraversion significantly weakens the relationship between work stress level and auditor performance, 4) agreeableness insignificantly weakens the relationship between work stress level and auditor performance and 5) emotional stability significantly weakens the relationship between work stress level and auditor performance.

Abstract

This article tries to analyze the threats and risks of Transnational Organized Crime (TNOC) that occurred during the pandemic, especially in the smuggling of narcotics, psychotropics, and precursors (NPP). The closure of borders between countries due to the prevention of the spread of the Covid-19 virus, directly reduces the findings/actions of violations at the Indonesian border. Using a qualitative approach by analyzing data from the literature and documents related to TNOC. This article aims to analyze the data, so that the reduction in the number of prosecutions at the border does not cause bias in interpretation in concluding the threat of TNOC (narcotics). Did TNOC really decrease during the pandemic, or did it just change shape/mode. The results showed that there was no impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on TNOC activities in the circulation of NPP. The data found indicate that there is an equally large threat and risk from TNOC in Indonesia. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on TNOC's activities is only in changing the modus operandi of smuggling NPP into Indonesia.

Abstract

Previous studies have supported the notion that Economics and Business students are more likely to have higher scores for psychopathic traits, but research has not been conducted to support whether this inherited trait has direct implications for the future likelihood that these students will take on an important role in the survival of the company, or whether their choice to study economics and business at the undergraduate and graduate levels has something to do with their inherited psychopathic traits. The question that this study aims to answer is whether the influence of psychopathic traits on acceptance of fraud is relatively higher when their financial resilience is better. A quantitative approach with SEM AMOS 22 and SPSS 22 was used to conduct the research. Respondents are active accounting graduate students in various universities with minimum accreditation B. The results of this study support both hypotheses, the first hypothesis is that psychopathic traits will affect acceptance of accounting fraud, and the second hypothesis is that the interaction between financial resilience and psychopathic traits affects the relationship between psychopathy and acceptance of accounting fraud.
