Abstract

In recent years, there have been widespread criminal cases with enormous intensity. With a variety of modus operandi, criminal cases both committed by individuals and collectives, are carried out by ordinary people to the executive, legislative and also the judiciary. The cases that most render the sense of justice ripped apart are the many cases of corruption, bribery and collusion. The judiciary that is trusted often betrays a sense of justice by only giving very light laws for cases of corruption and bribery which are detrimental to the country's finances. Therefore many people, especially Muslims, want the application of Islamic law in the criminal field. With strict legal sanctions and supported by sources that originate from the Qur’an, it is hoped that the existing crime can be minimized.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the role of differences in innovation between Indonesia and sixty selected partner countries in encouraging bilateral intra-industrial trade (IIT) in the 2009-2017 period with the fixed effect model estimation method (FEM). The innovations in other research generally use RnD spending, number of patents, and other cost-based variables. Whereas in this study using the Global Innovation Index score with the hope of capturing the level of innovation of each country more comprehensively. The results showed that the difference in innovation (DGII) was proven positively and significantly in encouraging IIT Indonesia and partner countries. Control variables, Economic openness (OPEN), GDP average (AGDP), differences in per capita income (DGDPC), and foreign direct investment (FDI) are known to have a positive and significant role in driving IIT. While another control variables, trade cost (TC) have a negative and significant effect in encouraging IIT.

Abstract

Logical and rational ways of thinking are the main characteristics of scientific thought, apart from being systematic, measurable, and factual. But in fact, many scientific works such as theses and lecturers' research that use the words influence and correlation both use a correlational approach in their methodology or there is no difference. This is a denial of logical and rational thought, even though it may go unnoticed out of ignorance. This paper is expected to provide a correct understanding of the differences in the use of the word influence and correlation in quantitative research and its implications for research methodology.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to identify the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic on hotel workers’ job stress, well-being and self-assessed mental health at The Nusa Dua luxury tourism complex in Bali. In order to achieve the aim, a survey was conducted on 400 hotel workers from 21 upscale international and local hotel brands at The Nusa Dua by using measurement items that were already tested in several past studies. The data were analyzed by implementing three statistical techniques which were the exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and path analysis. This study found that the Covid-19 pandemic distresses had positively impacted job stress and that job stress had negatively impacted the hotel workers’ well-being. This research also revealed that job stress had positively impacted self-assessed mental health. Moreover, the analysis found that economic distresses were the most concerning issue for the hotel workers at The Nusa Dua during the Covid-19 pandemic. This result was different compared to the past study in Korea which found that physical concerns were the main issue. In accordance with the previous research, this study also revealed that the higher the job stress, the more impact it had on the hotel workers’ self-assessed mental health. Overall, it was found that the social perception distresses and job stress had the highest correlation with other variables. Due to the time limitation of this research, there may have been other indicators relevant to the context of Indonesian hospitality workers that were not identified. Hence, this study recommends future research to conduct focus group discussion or in-depth interviews with suitable key informants to identify aspects that may be more relevant.

Abstract

This research is based on the relatively low literacy or problem solving ability and creative thinking level of students towards the teaching material for the "Calculus" course. In the mathematics education study program, calculus courses are prerequisites for many courses, including advanced calculus, real analysis, mathematical statistics, numerical methods, differential equations, initial values and boundary conditions, and complex number algebra. The purpose of this study is to improve the quality of learning seen from the aspect of the level of problem solving abilities, and students' creative thinking abilities, and to produce teaching materials for Calculus courses in the form of modules that meet the eligibility criteria, namely valid, practical and effective. From the aspect of the learning process the variables observed as indicators or benchmarks of research success are problem solving abilities, and students' creative thinking skills, while from the aspect of learning media the indicators of research success are the validity, practicality and effectiveness of the learning media used. The average value of the problem-solving ability of classically meticulous subjects in solving problems of Calculus learning material reaches 77.2 with a minimum completeness score of 80% (≥75%).

Abstract

Higher education is present as a forum that has a considerable contribution in improving the quality of human resources in a nation according to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education point c reads; that in order to increase the nation's competitiveness in facing globalization in all fields, higher education is needed that is able to develop science and technology and produce intellectuals, scientists, and/or professionals who are cultured and creative, tolerant, democratic, have strong character, and dare to defend the truth for the interests of the nation. Universities as organizations that aim at service satisfaction are currently no longer reliable in terms of competitive advantage in this era of very high competition because other universities are also doing the same thing, so organizations need to emphasize commitment to achieving organizational goals by proactively improving the organization's image and increase student loyalty by looking at the quality of service and the quality of human resources (HR). The research method used is a quantitative approach with a total of 369 respondents with data analysis used through the SmartPLS 3.0 program, while the results obtained in this study are (1) Service Quality on Student Satisfaction has a direct but not significant effect; (2) Service Quality has a direct and significant effect on Organizational Commitment; (3) Quality of Human Resources has a direct but not significant effect on Organizational Commitment; (4) the quality of human resources has a direct and significant effect on student satisfaction; (5) Organizational Commitment has a direct and significant effect on Student Satisfaction; while (6) the quality of service has not been able to directly increase student satisfaction, and Organizational Commitment as a very important mediation needed to be able to increase the influence of Service Quality on student satisfaction; and (7) the quality of human resources can directly increase student satisfaction even without going through organizational commitment, so that the existence of organizational commitment as a mediation is not needed to be able to increase the influence of service quality on student satisfaction
