Abstract

The phenomenon of obesity has become a serious problem in various countries, especially in Indonesia. According to WHO in 2016 there were 2.8 million people who died due to the problem of obesity, while according to the Indonesian Ministry of Health the prevalence of overweight and obesity in Indonesia in 2018 reached 13,6% and 21.8%. One of the factors that cause obesity is socio-economic status. However, there are often differences regarding the effect of socioeconomic status on obesity in developing and developed countries. This study aims to identify the determinant factors of socioeconomic status on overweight and obesity. The data used comes from the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) 5 in 2014 with samples are aged more than 18 years. The analysis was conducted by using the Ordered Logistic Regression model. The results of this study indicate that statistically, individuals with higher socioeconomic status have a higher chance of experience overweight and obesity. Therefore, the socialization of health care programs needs to be improved, especially in the community and schools to increase knowledge, awareness, and change lifestyles to be healthier.

Abstract

In dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccination is one of the essential strategies in ending the pandemic. However, amid vaccination efforts, various hoax information spread on social media with messages of fear and anxiety. Therefore, this study aims to reveal messages of fear, anxiety, and efficacy in spreading vaccine hoaxes through the theory of fear appeal. This study found that the most prominent communication fears were death and death threats through a content analysis approach. Anxiety communication is about vaccine impact, vaccine quality, vaccine content, and feelings of sin. Meanwhile, the efficacy communication relates to the vegetarian lifestyle, chemical treatment, and natural methods. Communication of fear and anxiety about vaccinations spread through hoaxes is intended to prevent people from vaccinating. The spread of vaccine hoaxes about fear and anxiety is part of terror communication with various labels created and also builds a discourse of distrust of the government. This research has implications for mapping vaccine hoaxes and can be a reference for the government in planning communications for the success of the vaccination program.

Abstract

Since both inflation and economic growth are not a new concept rather their relationships are waited still now as a debatable issue among macro-economists, policy makers, policy analysts, politicians and even the population itself by giving their own analysis by conduct a research and assumption based on the trend as before. Basically, the aims of this seminar paper are to review the relationship between inflation and economic growth as well as to review the causes, sources, determinants and impacts of Ethiopian inflation. Most of the studies indicated above shown that, higher and volatile inflation is bad for the economy. On the other hand, lower and stable inflation is considered as a promoter of the economy. Then the question should focus on what level of inflation is harmful to economic growth? Many economists have made researches on estimating the threshold level of inflation using panel data for a number of countries and time-series data for single country cases and these researchers fix the threshold level of inflation for both developing and developed country. But in this seminar paper, quantifying or fix the exact number of threshold level of Ethiopian inflation and decide below this level inflation has a positive effect on growth and beyond this level it has negative impact on growth is very difficult by simply review previous literature without conducting actual research and make a deep analysis. Even if it is the case, based on the literature it is surely possible to conclude the inflation rate has a serious negative effect on the growth of one country’s economy especially in Ethiopia, if inflation has a double digit of an annual growth.

Abstract

Not all of the verses in the Al-Quran that are historical and normative can be understood only textually, because many of the verses in the Al-Quran still have broad (universal) meanings and need to be interpreted deeper, so that a law or wisdom that can be understood and practiced by all humans in general and Muslims in particular. From the peel of this verse several conclusions can be drawn, including namely; Al-Quran is the source of Islamic communication. Because all the elements of Islamic communication are contained in the Al-Quran, among these elements are misage or message. There are so many terms in the Al-Quran that relate to misage of communication. Among them as contained in Surat At-Tahrim verse 6; where the message of Islamic communication in the verse is, Allah reminds the believers to protect themselves, their families from the fires of hell. In addition, the message of Islamic communication contained in Surat Al-Baqarah verse 208; the Al-Quran orders every believer to practice the teachings of Islam perfectly. In other words, Muslims must apply Islamic law in every aspect of their lives.
