Abstract

This paper is intended to explore the holistic philosophy of al-ʿālamīn in al-Qur’an as the basis for Universal Rights, Hak Asasi Alam Semesta (HAAS), for the lack of comprehensiveness of Human Rights, Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM), which tends to be anthropocentric-materialistic-secularistic. This research is qualitative research relying on the literature review method. The analytical tool used in this research is the Hermeneutical-philosophical paradigm of human rights and international law contained in the al-ʿālamīn concept. Al-ʿālamīn, God Sustainer of Humans, has been, is, will always be translated and interpreted with the embodiment in the form of Human Rights. Not only human rights, it also needs to be conceptualized and implemented in the discourse of Universal Rights where God is the Custodian of the Universe. HAM does not necessitate human religiosity. It is just the fulfillment of human rights to one creature, named human. HAAS, in addition to fulfilling human rights religiously and spiritually, is also primarily a blessing for the universe, including the fulfillment of human rights for all forms of natural resources, such as plants, animals, jinn, earth, planets, galaxies and so on. Therefore, the five main things that make up maqashid al-shari'ah, namely protecting religion, soul, lineage, property and mind, which have an anthropocentric tendency, become more holistic when fulfilled by protecting the universe, hifz al-ʿālamīn. Tulisan ini dimaksudkan untuk mengeksplorasi filosofi holistik al-ʿālamīn dalam al-Qur'an sebagai dasar Hak Asasi Universal, Hak Asasi Alam Semesta (HAAS) karena kurang komprehensifnya Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM) yang cenderung antroposentris-materialistik-sekularistik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang mengandalkan metode kajian pustaka. Alat analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah paradigma hermeneutika-filosofis hak asasi manusia dan hukum internasional yang terkandung dalam konsep al-'ālamīn. Al-'Ālamīn, Tuhan Pemelihara Manusia, telah, sedang, dan akan selalu diterjemahkan dan ditafsirkan, dengan pengejawantahannya dalam bentuk HAM. Tidak hanya HAM, HAM juga perlu dikonseptualisasikan dan diimplementasikan dalam wacana HAAS, Tuhan Pemelihara Alam Semesta. HAM tidak mengharuskan adanya religiusitas manusia. HAM hanyalah pemenuhan hak asasi manusia terhadap satu makhluk, yaitu manusia. HAI, selain memenuhi hak asasi manusia secara religius dan spiritual, juga utamanya adalah menjadi rahmat bagi alam semesta, termasuk pemenuhan hak asasi manusia terhadap segala bentuk sumber daya alam, seperti tumbuhan, hewan, jin, bumi, planet-planet, galaksi, dan lain sebagainya. Oleh karena itu, lima hal utama yang membentuk maqashid al-syari'ah, yaitu menjaga agama, jiwa, nasab, harta, dan akal, yang memiliki kecenderungan antroposentris, menjadi lebih holistik ketika dipenuhi dengan menjaga alam semesta, hifz al-ʿālamīn.

Abstract

This research discusses the transformation of Jathilan art in Yogyakarta as a form of cultural da'wah that integrates Islamic values into traditional Javanese art. Jathilan, which was originally known as a magical and mystical performance, has undergone an adaptation process to conform to Islamic teachings without losing its aesthetic essence and local cultural values. This transformation involves changes to performance elements, such as narration, music and costumes, by replacing magical elements with educational Islamic values. The role of the arts community, religious leaders and local communities is very important in this process, making Jathilan a relevant and easily accepted medium for preaching, especially by the younger generation. This research is a descriptive qualitative research using a phenomenological approach to understand in depth the transformation process of Jathilan art through the integration of sholawat elements. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this research is data reduction, presenting data in narrative form, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that Jathilan art is not just a performance that functions as entertainment, but also as a forum for conveying moral and spiritual messages that have a positive impact on the people who watch it. Elements of da'wah are instilled through prayer poetry, prayers and moral values contained in the performance. The existence of prayer poetry in Jathilan art provides the benefit of peace of mind and soul so that a person can avoid mental illness. Penelitian ini membahas transformasi kesenian Jathilan di Yogyakarta sebagai bentuk dakwah kultural yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Islam ke dalam seni tradisional Jawa. Jathilan, yang awalnya dikenal sebagai pertunjukan bernuansa magis dan mistis, telah mengalami proses adaptasi untuk menyesuaikan dengan ajaran Islam tanpa menghilangkan esensi estetika dan nilai budaya lokalnya. Transformasi ini melibatkan perubahan pada elemen-elemen pertunjukan, seperti narasi, musik, dan kostum, dengan mengganti unsur-unsur magis menjadi nilai-nilai Islami yang mendidik. Peran komunitas seni, tokoh agama, dan masyarakat lokal sangat penting dalam proses ini, menjadikan Jathilan sebagai media dakwah yang relevan dan mudah diterima, terutama oleh generasi muda. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi untuk memahami secara mendalam proses transformasi kesenian Jathilan melalui integrasi unsur sholawat. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini yaitu dengan reduksi data, penyajian data berbentuk narasi, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan seni Jathilan tidak hanya sekedar pertunjukan berfungsi sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai wadah penyampaian pesan moral dan spiritual yang memberikan dampak positif pada masyarakat yang menontonnya. Unsur-unsur dakwah ditanamkan melalui syair sholawat, doa, dan nilai moral yang terkandung dalam pertunjukan. Adanya syair sholawat dalam kesenian Jathilan memberikan manfaat ketentraman hati dan jiwa sehingga seseorang terhindar dari penyakit mental.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Islamic Mentoring learning model in developing the religious character of students at SD IT Amanah Sungai Penuh City. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, involving principals, Islamic mentoring teachers, and students from grades 4–6. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that planning is carried out by preparing lesson plans, grouping students by gender, and selecting learning materials from Arrasyad books (Volumes 1–6), covering Qur'an, Aqidah, Hadith, Sirah, Fiqh, Akhlak, and skills. Implementation is conducted weekly in small groups of 10–15 students, starting with greetings, Qur’an recitation, and thematic discussions on Islamic values, supported by teacher role modeling. Evaluation is performed through daily attitude monitoring (mutaba’ah yaumiyah), oral questioning, and observation of behavioral changes. The model effectively improved students’ religious character in terms of worship discipline, polite speech, mutual respect, and environmental awareness. This research concludes that Islamic mentoring, when well-planned and consistently implemented, plays a significant role in shaping students’ religious character in primary Islamic integrated schools.

Abstract

This study analyzes character education values in the Indonesian film Iqro: Petualangan Meraih Bintang directed by Iqbal Alfajri. The research aims to explain the relevance of character education values, the strategies used by the grandfather character to internalize those values to his granddaughter, and the specific character traits depicted in the film. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis, the study applies Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory focusing on denotation and connotation to interpret scenes, dialogues, and symbols. The prim ary data source is the film itself, while secondary data are derived from relevant books, journal articles, and online resources. Findings reveal three main character education values strongly represented in the film: (1) perseverance, as seen in Aqila’s determination to prove astronomical facts and fulfill her grandfather’s requirement to learn the Qur’an before using the observatory telescope; (2) sincerity, reflected in the grandfather’s dedication to nurturing Aqila’s character and defending the Bosscha Observatory from threats of hotel construction; and (3) religious literacy, highlighted through the integration of Qur’anic verses with scientific learning about the universe. The study concludes that the film effectively conveys Islamic character education through relatable narratives, inspiring young audiences to combine knowledge seeking with moral and spiritual growth. These findings imply that films with moral and educational content can be an effective medium for character building in Islamic education contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the communicative character in the communication patterns between students and lecturers through WhatsApp social media, analyze the supporting factors, and reveal the inhibiting factors. This is qualitative field research employing a descriptive approach to understand the observed communication phenomena. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with participants consisting of students and lecturers at IAIN Kerinci. The findings indicate that communicative character plays a crucial role in building effective communication patterns between students and lecturers via WhatsApp. Key elements of communicative character include politeness, proper use of language, openness, message clarity, accuracy, consistency in replying, and mutual respect for time. Supporting factors comprise the ability to convey information, availability of time, awareness to maintain communication ethics, and mutual respect for opinions. Inhibiting factors involve differences in communication styles, unclear communication objectives, lack of response, time constraints, and limited communication skills. These findings highlight the need to strengthen digital communication ethics in academic environments, particularly in utilizing social media as an effective medium for learning interaction.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the decline of moral values in society, as reflected in the increasing number of conflicts among community groups, mass organizations, ethnicities, and cultures, some of which have led to bloodshed and loss of life. Alarmingly, such conflicts also occur among intellectuals. This situation calls for strategic efforts to restore social harmony, one of which is by instilling the values of religious moderation found in the Qur’an—particularly through strengthening the peace-loving character that fosters tolerance in society. The main objective of this study is to uncover the meaning of the peace-loving character in Surah al-Hujurat verses 9–13 and its relevance to religious moderation education. More broadly, it aims to identify the values of peace conveyed in these verses and their connection to the principles of religious moderation promoted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with a library research approach and content analysis technique. The results show that Surah al-Hujurat verses 9–13 contain values such as conflict resolution through justice, respect for differences, and upholding fairness. These values are strongly aligned with the principles of religious moderation, such as tawassuth (middle path), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), i’tidal (justice), and iqtishad (moderation). Therefore, these Qur’anic teachings serve as a vital foundation for shaping moderate and tolerant character through Islamic education.

Abstract

This study is based on the fact that moral decay in society seems to be an inevitable reality in this era of scientific and technological advancement, especially among families. Therefore, the role of BKMT is not only as a non-formal educational institution for acquiring knowledge, but it must also be able to provide learning that encourages the development of strong character. In an effort to internalize character education values, BKMT Hamparan Rawang Subdistrict presents various activities carried out during religious study sessions. This study aims to describe the strengthening of religious character in families through BKMT Hamparan Rawang Subdistrict. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results of this study indicate that the strengthening of religious character in families through BKMT Hamparan Rawang District, through its work programs, includes: weekly, monthly, and annual religious study sessions, conducted consistently, using lecture and question-and-answer methods.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the worship practices and moral improvement of elderly suluk participants in the Naqshbandi Order at Koto Cayo Village, Semurup, and to identify the factors that support or hinder their participation. Employing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that suluk significantly contributes to enhancing elderly participants’ worship quality, as evidenced by their consistency in performing obligatory and voluntary prayers, increased frequency of fasting, and the habitual practice of daily dhikr. Moreover, suluk plays an important role in moral refinement, eliminating reprehensible traits (akhlaq mazmumah) such as miserliness, arrogance, envy, and jealousy, while fostering praiseworthy virtues (akhlaq mahmudah) such as patience, honesty, humility, generosity, and trust in God (tawakkal). Supporting factors include high intrinsic motivation, family support, financial readiness, and effective time management, whereas inhibiting factors comprise low motivation, limited community support, financial constraints, and work obligations. These findings affirm suluk’s dual role as a medium for spiritual and moral development and as a means of strengthening social solidarity within the community. The study recommends implementing religious motivation programs, disseminating the benefits of suluk, providing economic support, and adjusting schedules to improve elderly participation. The implications of this research are not only relevant for elderly guidance in local contexts but can also serve as a model for developing Islamic values-based spiritual programs across various Muslim communities.

Abstract

A common problem that occurs in schools today is the low level of responsibility among students in their studies. This can be seen from students not taking notes during lessons, only doing assignments when told to, being unable to solve problems, and cheating on assignments by copying or asking others to do their work for them. This occurs due to internal factors within the students themselves, while external factors come from outside, one of which is social and economic factors. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of socio-economic factors on students' sense of responsibility at SDN 047/XI Koto Baru. The research design is a mixed-method approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods, using a descriptive analysis with simple regression. The population consists of 152 individuals, with a sample of 60 students from SDN 047/XI Koto Baru. Data collection techniques used questionnaires, while instrument testing employed validity and reliability tests. Qualitative data analysis techniques included data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions, whereas quantitative data analysis involved normality tests, hypothesis testing, simultaneous tests (F-test), and determination tests (R2). The results of the study on student responsibility at SDN 047/XI Koto Baru indicate that, in general, student responsibility is good and aligns with the indicators of responsibility, including: preparing activity reports both verbally and in writing, performing tasks without being told, demonstrating initiative to address issues within their immediate surroundings, and avoiding dishonesty in task execution.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the character education values embedded in the practice of silaturahim (strengthening kinship) within the local wisdom tradition of Hari Rayo Enam in Ujung Pasir Village, Tanah Cogok Sub-district. This tradition is a hereditary celebration with deep social and religious significance. The community uses this moment to strengthen family ties, build communication, and instill values of togetherness and solidarity. Using an ethnopedagogical approach, this research found that the Hari Rayo Enam tradition reflects character education values such as togetherness, cooperation, care, family spirit, and solidarity. Activities such as congregational Tasbih prayers, grave visits, recitation of Yasin and tahlil, and other social activities strengthen the integration of these character values into community life. The roles of community leaders, religious figures, the village head, and traditional leaders are crucial in preserving this tradition. This study concludes that the Hari Rayo Enam tradition is not only a religious celebration but also an important means of building character and strengthening social relationships, which can be used as a model for implementing character education in various aspects of life.
