Abstract

The objective of this research is to ascertain the disparity in the mean learning outcomes between students instructed through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach and those instructed through the Direct Instruction (DI) approach. This study used a quasi-experimental approach, specifically the Posttest-Only Control Group design. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 West Siau during the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The participants of this study were selected from two homogeneous and identical classes: class VIIA, consisting of 14 students who received the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model treatment, and class VIIB, consisting of 14 students who received the Direct Instruction (DI) model treatment. The mean posttest score for the experimental group was 82.64, while the mean posttest score for the control group was 68.85. Conducting a data analysis using the t-test, the calculated t-value is 6.599, which is greater than the critical t-value of 2.056. Therefore, the choice is made to reject the null hypothesis (H0). Therefore, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) paradigm has the potential to enhance the overall academic performance of students in the subject of Bangun Datar

Abstract

Error is a mistake about something that was said to be correct in a previous agreement. Comparison is material that students still find difficult to understand in learning and many errors still occur. Even though the concept of comparative material is applied in everyday life, quite a lot of students have difficulty and do not understand comparative material. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research to select samples with certain considerations. This research uses indicators of the types of Nolting errors, namely errors due to carelessness, errors in understanding concepts, errors in application, and errors in final results. The purpose of this research is to describe what errors experienced by students using the Nolting error type. Based on the results of the analysis carried out by researchers on careless mistakes, students were not careful enough to make mistakes that had an impact on the final results. In conceptual errors, students do not understand the formula so they cannot find a way to solve the problem. In application errors, students can know the formula but cannot apply it to the answer. Meanwhile, the final result is an error where the student is correct in the steps but does not answer what was asked in the question

Abstract

Mathematical representation abilities can be in the form of expressions, ideas or mathematical ideas, which originate from students' thoughts that emerge during learning in an effort to find mathematical solutions. There are three indicators of mathematical representation ability, namely verbal, pictorial and symbolic. The process of developing students' potential and thinking can be done by holding mathematics competitions or olympiads. The approach used in this research is qualitative with descriptive methods. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research to select samples with certain considerations. The aim of this research is to describe students' mathematical representation abilities in solving Olympiad questions. This research used a sample of 3 students each representing each high, medium and low representation ability group. Based on the results of research on visual representation abilities, some students already have high abilities, although there are some who are still medium or low. Meanwhile, in symbolic ability, there are many students whose abilities are high and only a few whose abilities are medium or low. For verbal representation, most students already have high abilities and only a few students have medium or low abilities

Abstract

The role of mathematics is not only to involve students in understanding the material thoroughly, but also to train them to think creatively and logically and to be able to carry out mathematical skills with daily activities, which is known as Concept Understanding Ability. This research aims to describe students' conceptual understanding abilities in solving mathematics problems on fractional numbers based on Florence Littauer's personality type. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data was collected through tests of students' mathematical literacy skills and interviews. The research subjects were two class VII students at MTs Nurul Bahri for the 2023/2024 academic year who were selected based on personality type. The data obtained was then analyzed qualitatively by paying attention to indicators of the ability to understand mathematical concepts

Abstract

Current technological developments have digital money or cryptocurrency which is currently being used as an investment by the world community. here are views about cryptocurrencies, there is a profitable opportunity by involving cryptocurrencies into the economy and monetary system. The aim of this research is to form a cryptocurrency price dynamics model, analyze the stability of the equilibrium point and interpret the results of the model simulation. This type of research is basic or theoretical research. The method used is a descriptive method. This dynamic model takes the form of a system of differential equations consisting of five equations. In the analysis of the dynamic model, it was found that one equilibrium point was unstable because it did not meet the requirements. Based on the analysis of the simulation results that have been carried out, it shows that cryptocurrency prices deviate from fundamental values with the encouragement of liquidity prices resulting in cryptocurrency prices deviating from the equilibrium point

Abstract

Global warming has become one of the big problems being faced in the 21st century. Global warming and depletion of the ozone layer due to excessive increases in Green House Gas (GHG) emissions in the atmosphere have a negative impact on the sustainability of coastal ecosystems. This research aims to describe the impact of rapid GHG emissions on coastal life, and this research also wants to determine the mathematical relationship between increasing GHGs and global warming. Rapid GHG emissions from various sources also drive global warming and cause several natural disasters. The method used in this research is the descriptive method. This research develops a mathematical model using four variables. Based on the results of simulation analysis, it shows that GHG and global warming can be controlled by ehriching coastal forests, but if not, the human population could lose the ability to survive and around one third of the total forest ecosystem will be lost by the end of this century

Abstract

The This research aims to improve students' numeracy literacy skills in algebraic material using a Problem Based Learning model. This Classroom Action Research was conducted at SMP Negeri 3 Suwawa for the 2023/2024 academic year. The research subjects were 30 class VII students and a mathematics teacher. The data collection techniques used were in the form of observations and tests, with research instruments in the form of observation sheets of teacher and student activities as well as tests. This research took place over two cycles. This can be seen from observations of teacher activities increasing by 35.49% from 64.51% in cycle I to 100% in cycle II with good and very good criteria. Furthermore, student activities increased by 50.83% from 49.17% in cycle I to 100% in cycle II with good and very good criteria. Students' numeracy literacy abilities also increased by 15.75% from 69.44% in cycle I to 85.19% in cycle II. Thus, the success indicators for teacher observation activities, student observation activities and students' numeracy literacy skills have increased to reach indicators of success in action

Abstract

Diabetes is a global health problem that is increasing in prevalence worldwide. This study compares the performance of two data analysis methods, namely binary logistic regression and naïve bayes classifier in predicting diabetes risk. This study aims to identify factors that significantly affect diabetes risk and classify diabetes risk using binary logistic regression, then compare the classification with the naive bayes classifier algorithm. Binary logistic regression models the relationship between independent predictor variables and binary dependent variables, while naïve bayes classifier uses the assumption of independence between variables. In this study, both methods were evaluated based on accuracy, sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value. The results show that the factors that influence the risk of diabetes are Age, Gender, Polyuria, Polydipsia, Genital thrush, Itching, Irritability, and Partial paresis. Furthermore, the binary logistic regression results have a higher classification accuracy (92.31%) compared to the naïve bayes classifier (84.61%). Therefore, binary logistic regression was identified as the best method to predict diabetes risk in the context of this study

Abstract

This research aims to determine 1) differences in creative thinking abilities between students who use geoboard teaching tools and students who use conventional ones in class VII, 2) differences in creative thinking abilities between students with high disposition ability and low disposition ability in class VII, 3 ) the interaction of geoboard teaching tools and mathematical disposition abilities on students' creative thinking abilities in class VII. This type of research is quasi-experimental research. Data collection techniques in this research are test and non-test techniques. The data analysis technique in this research uses a two-way ANOVA technique. The research results obtained from testing the hypothesis for each formulation are 1) there is a difference in creative thinking ability between students who use geoboard tools and students who use conventional in class VII with a significant value <0.001, 2) there is a difference in creative thinking ability between students high disposition ability with low disposition ability in class VII with a significant value of 0.020, 3) there is an interaction between geoboard teaching tools and mathematical disposition ability on the creative thinking ability of students in class VII with a significant value <0.001

Abstract

More and more problems cannot be solved without collecting and processing data. Therefore, a data processing science called statistics is needed. There are several statistical abilities that an individual needs to have in order to help an individual in solving problems, one of which is statistical reasoning. A person's statistical reasoning can be seen from how a person solves problems. One of the things within a person that can influence the way a person solves problems is learning style. From these several things, it is suspected that there is a connection between learning style and a person's statistical reasoning. Therefore, researchers developed this research with the aim of finding out whether there is a relationship between learning styles and statistical reasoning. This research uses mixed methods, a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.  The quantitative method used was the One-Way Anova test and the result was that Fratio < Critical F. So all visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles have the same influence on statistical reasoning. Meanwhile, the qualitative method also supports previous results that the statistical reasoning profiles of students with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles are almost the same
