Abstract

The purpose of this Community Service is to apply the research results of the proposer team's research for community empowerment in Pante Ceureumen District, West Aceh. Research results are applied to the activity program MERDEKA 74 "(Minapadi Together with Local Fish 7 Species and 4 Legowo) which is a system of planting rice by cultivating fish in one rice field simultaneously. This program aims to increase farmers' income with high rice yield productivity and increase local fish production. The activity was carried out for 6 months at the Pante Ceureumen District, West Aceh. The results observed included rice production and fish production in the Minapadi system. The production of 2: 1 legowo planted rice has a significant effect on the parameters of rice production, namely (16.17 kg /Ha). Meanwhile, the production of cultivated fish (7 species) are catfish, bileh fish, tilapia, goldfish, catfish, catfish and giant prawns. The 7 species are able to develop and be cultivated well.

Abstract

Corona virus (COVID-19) is a type of deadly virus with a fast spreading process. This virus infects the human respiratory tract. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, all activities must follow the health protocols published by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, such as social distancing, wearing masks and washing hands. The aim of this study is to provide understanding to the Kuala Bubon fishing community regarding health protocols as an effort to prevent COVID-19 and to provide touchless hand washer assistance to make it easier for people to do health protocols. This study which is a part of community service activity was conducted by using the lecture/mentoring method. The output of the activity is an increase of public awareness to always follow health protocols to every activity. The activity received a positive response from the local community. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of the community in participating in this community service activity.

Abstract

Damage to coral reefs has resulted in decreased habitat and fish populations in the waters of Staring Bay, therefore an environmentally friendly coral rehabilitation program is needed by community engagement. The objective of this work is to rehabilitate coral reefs through the environmentally friendly bioreeftek technology application based on the Community Working Group (POKJAMAS) in the waters of Staring Bay South Konawe. The method of implementing the program is training to strengthen the capacity of Community Working Groups, manufacture of bioreeftek technology and application of bioreeftek technology in waters. The result of this activity was the formation of 2 group POKJAMAS at the location of community service, The total number of POKJAMAS members who are actively involved is 50 people (33 male and 17 female) POKJAMAS members actively participate in training activities and technology demonstration plot (Demplot). POKJAMAS has succeeded in making 800 units of environmentally friendly bioreeftek. Bioreeftek technology has been deployed in Staring Bay waters at 2 locations are Puasana village and Wawatu village. The technology demonstration plot has contributed to strengthening the capacity of POKJAMAS and enhances community responsibility within improving the condition of coral reefs in the waters of Staring Bay in south konawe.

Abstract

The major problem in fishing production activities faced by fishermen in Wawatu Village is the limited fishing ground area caused by unfriendly-environmentally fishing activities, unorganized spawning and nursery areas so that the availability of fish stocks in their habitats is insufficient for fishermen and traditional fishery businesses. The main focus of this community dedication activity was to further optimize FADs functions as a fishing tool, attracting squid and crabs to gather inside the FADs area. This activity can be one of the solutions to increase fish production during the COVID-19 pandemic in Wawatu Village, North Moramo District, South Konawe Regency. There were two approaches in this activity, namely 1) approach of participatory training to partners, 2) technology applications at the demonstration plot (demplot) location. The result showed that the community was quite enthusiastic in participating in all activities including training and discussion activities as well as the application of environmentally friendly FADs technology, including active participation in material preparation, making of FADs and installing FADs in the water.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with high-risk potential for various types of disasters because Indonesia is located between three large tectonic plates of the earth, namely the Eurasian Plate, the Indo-Australian Plate and the Pacific Plate.  West Aceh  Regency  is  one  of  the  districts  included  in  the  level  of  high  hazard classification for tectonic earthquakes that can cause Tsunamis.  The stage of empowerment community includes conducting the survey, the coordinating with principal of MTSS Nurul Huda, socialication of tsunami disaster and the simulation of tsunami disaster alert. In conducting the community empowerment, the students are enthusiasms to follow the socialization and the simulation of tsunami disaster aler.

Abstract

The province of Aceh is known for its coastal area which has enormous potential for the development of aquaculture of aquatic biota, both freshwater and saltwater communities. The potential for production from freshwater and saltwater fish businesses will be even more exciting in 2021. This is because the amount of fish consumption per capita of the world's population reaches 19.6 kg per year. This value is obtained from the results of estimates through the United Nations Food Agency in 2011. For this matter, various matters relating to the cultivation system must be prepared, starting from the stage of the enlargement process to the stage of feeding or baiting which is more regular and has precise calculations. The purpose of making this automatic feed machine product is to make it easier for aquatic biota cultivators the process of feeding aquatic biota in ponds and ponds through the development of an automatic feed distribution system equipped with systematic timing. With this equipment, the perpetrators of cultivating aquatic biota are able to provide feed easily and regularly so that it helps avoid aquatic biota experiencing a lack of feed which ends in death. The biggest benefit is that cultivators have time savings as well as labor cost savings. The results of this equipment manufacture in the form of a feed control system and feed spreader automatically assisted by the supply of solar power directly to the solar panel so that it is able to convert light energy and sunlight into electrical energy. The output of this product is expected to be able to provide the right solution to cultivators in increasing income and making it easier to use easy and efficient tools.

Abstract

The coastal area of Gampoeng Peunaga Raryeuk has a lot of potential for pandanus plants and is good for use as raw material for making pandanus woven. The people of Gampoeng Peunaga Rayeuk generally have weaving skills that have been passed down from generation to generation. However, so far the weaving activities have temporarily dimmed due to less varied product yields, thus affecting weak market power. In connection with the phenomenon in the field, training and community empowerment were carried out. The aim is to train people to make various plaits using pandan leaves that are around. This training activity uses demonstration and lecture methods. It is hoped that new jobs will be created, especially in the economic and agricultural fields for the people who live in Peunaga Rayek Village, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency.

Abstract

Income of fishers in West Aceh District usually fluctuating, indicate by the small of number of catches of fisherman. Another thing that has a negative impact on the economy fishermens households is the Covid-19 pandemic. Limited land is a problem for fishermen’s families, previously fishermen’s wives drying salted fish to increase their income. One of the tips is to apply fish cultivation technology on limited land with the Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) system. The purpose of this activity is to provide knowledge to a group of fishermen’s wives about fish farming based on the IMTA system. The method used is the socialization of IMTA system fish farming, IMTA system fish pond construction training, production management guidance, training on production performance analysis and marketing strategy, monitoring and evaluation. Integrated fish cultivation training activities for groups of fishermen’s wives received positive support and response from group partners. This activity is very beneficial for houswives because they get new skills to increase economic income. This program is a solution for fishermen’s families during uncertain economic conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This group activity will be an inspiration and model for other fishermen’s wives to do fish farming in limited land and water sources.

Abstract

Plastic waste in the sea is a global problem that directly harms the marine environment (damaging marine ecosystems and threatening the lives of marine organisms), and can indirectly interfere with human health and life. This activity aims to provide knowledge to students at State Elementary School 6 Meulaboh West Aceh about the impact of plastic waste on the marine environment and human life indirectly, as well as instilling an awareness of the importance of keeping the sea clean from an early age. This activity was carried out using the lecture method and interactive discussion with the students of State Elementary School 6 Meulaboh West Aceh. The output of this activity is to increase the awareness of elementary school students about the importance of keeping the marine environment clean and not littering. At the end of the activity, the distribution of tumblers and trash cans was carried out to minimize the use of plastic and provide a garbage disposal container at State Elementary School 6 Meulaboh. With this educational activity, students have been provided with knowledge from an early age about the importance of keeping the marine environment clean from plastic waste, so that in students there is a passion not to throw garbage into the sea or that ends up in the sea because of the large environmental impact that will arise if the polluted sea.

Abstract

Anak-anak di daerah pesisir harus memahami dampak dari pencemaran sampah plastik ke laut. Sampah plastik merupakan jenis sampah yang paling banyak ditemukan di laut. Sampah yang bermuara di bibir pantai telah menjadi masalah komplek yang dihadapai oleh masyarakat sekitar pesisir. Penumpukan sampah ini berasal dari beberapa sungai yang bermuara ke laut. Sosialisasi dilakukan di Gampong Peunaga Rayeuk kecamatan Meurebo kabupatan Aceh Barat bertujuan untuk meminimalisir dampak dari pencemaran sampah plastik terhadap lingkungan laut. Melalui kegitan sosialisasi ini, anak-anak yang berada di kawasan pesisir Peunaga Rayeuk dapat memahami dampak dari cemaran sampah plastik itu sendiri.
